I feel like the main difference is on how the girls handle the pain vs the guys. Even when the girls said it hurt they still kept smiling and sitting normally while the guys cramped up their whole body. As a girl you just have to live with it when you have cramps, you might feel like hell but you still have to do your everyday businesses
True the very first period is seriously painful you be close to crying though overtime your use
To it and it’s more of a cramping sensation than then it is pain, but every girls different.
Period can cause
Dizzyness(depending on how much blood you loss)
Cranky mood
Weakness
Cramps on lower abdomen
Tiredness.
This happens to us every 28 days,so imagine that, while doing labor.
For womens, oestrogenes it's a pain realeve
Yeah I have very bad cramps but I still have to go to school and stuff but one time I couldn't stand up
Women deal with it every month, we're used to it. The men, on the other hand, don't lol. They think they know what it's like, but they have no idea lol
Also girls have it for days rather than a few minutes every month
Period cramps aren't just in the abdomen. It's in your back, pelvic floor, butt, any number of places . I applaud any guy that sees this and then sympathizes with the woman(women) in their lives. Especially those that have serious pain or irregular periods and experience this pain.
Thanx I was going to mention that. I dealt with severe pains and irregularity. Turned out I had a cyst on one of my ovaries.
I was told my whole period experience was normal (I started at nine, which should have been hint number one)
Later on, about age 11 (10 at earliest), I had periods anywhere from 2 to 3 weeks long, along with extra high pain, which is most likely off the scale. We almost went to hospitals for it because I physically couldn’t move. Went on the pill to even it out when i was, like, twelve, but by the time I was thirteen, almost fourteen in January, I had to go off to regulate my body. Two days in, I was feeling what would be a twenty on the simulator. Day three, twenty five/six. Day four, about forty, and refusing to eat unless it was my comfort food, which I was allergic to. There started eating issues ❤️❤️
my legs cramp so bad also
Don’t forget the thighs. My thighs always cramp during periods

Remember that half of the women who customer service you are experiencing this. 1/4 of the smiles you see are smiles through a period cramp.
Why the difference, half of the women, 1/4 of the smiles?
@@puffpasslogic729 I once went to a cashier's counter and I thought her basic facial expression looked like she was having a hard time, but as she was checking out my purchases, a smile broke through three times.
When I worked retail I just went in like this lol. Walking it off kiiiinda helps?? Not really lol. One time I was working either Christmas Eve or New Year’s Eve, I can’t remember. It was the closing shift and my period suddenly came on early and much worse than usual. Since my sis also worked at the same place and was off that day, I called to see if she could fill in just for the next few hours until closing. We even had family over that neither of us liked much, so I figured she’d want to get away anyway. No one else was available. Nope. She just let me suffer for hours dying at work. Even my coworkers pitied me. I have since forgiven her, but I have NOT forgotten.
@KeitieKalopsia What does dying mean if you're alive years later? Did that afternoon of working in severe pain probably shorten your lifespan by hours, days or even months or years? So your coworkers noticed you were in severe pain. How did they notice. Were you unable to smile it away towards them? Did you choose not to smile it away towards them? Were you able to advise a few customers to their satisfaction? Did any customers notice you were in severe pain?
Sweet 😊
My mother never experienced period pains, until she was going thru menopause, so she had very little sympathy for me. But then she had to ask for one of my pills when she went through extreme cramping, and finally understood. I truly appreciated her apology.
OMGEEE I had the EXACT same experience !! She apologized in her later years. When she saw me suffering with horrible bleeding and pain before I had a hysterectomy she just said, I'm so sorry I doubted you.
I too had periods for about 18 months before someone shared that you could take medication for the pain. I was 10 when it started and I was raised by a mom with 2 much older sisters.
I am 49, soon 50, and just past couple of years I have been getting really heavy and painful periods. Before that it has been walk in the park. But I just never understood how some people belittle how others feel their pain. We are not the same and we don't feel things the same.
I am the only woman in my family who has period cramps or any symptoms at all, really. I must have gotten it from my dad. My sister and aunt sympathize and understand and support me, but my mom thinks that I have them because I must be living a bad lifestyle (bad sleep schedule, bad diet, not enough exercise, bad breathing????) and that if I fixed all of that, I’d have no pain and no symptoms. I was not allowed painkillers until my late teens when my complaining finally wore them down and my dad got them for me. It’s truly incredible that my whole family has no period pain. I’m a bit of a masochist, though, so a little pain doesn’t bother as long as I have Midol at hand when I’ve put up with enough of it. It only works like 50% of the time, though.
I don't experience pain now I am worried😭🙏
“It can’t be that bad.” That is exactly the problem when discussing period cramps with those who don’t experience them
Thankfully because of this device, they know that it can be that bad now
It is a really insensitive thing to say without knowing how it feels.
i dont get cramps but ive only had my period maybe 6 or 7 times but i kinda want to experience them to be able to sympathize with people who do

Making it a competition completely changes the vibe. Hollering and having your team cheer you on is completely different from suffering in silence while doing your daily routines.
I was thinking the same thing. On any given day, any female ages 14-50, could be experiencing this pain.... in the grocery store, in the office, classroom, the bank, a news anchor on TV, any number of actresses tv/movies, Olympic athletes, police officers...well, anywhere there are females, somebody's going through pain...and we'd never know.
@@brendamiller5785 I had to do that and do sports at school on sports day because your team is relying on you. Some of the worst experiences
I used to have my mom tell me my pain couldn't be that bad because hers never was. I'm from back in the day you never talked to anyone outside of your mother about how bad you hurt.
The internet can be an incredibly valuable resource for people to learn more than their parents are teaching them (I grew up before computers.) If you’re interested in learning more about the female body and reproduction topics I recommend Mama Dr Jones on TH-cam. Y’all take care of yourselves!
Yes! As entertaining as this video was, it'd be great to see a version where they're in isolation and there's no competitive element. Plus having to do tasks while experiencing it would be more realistic.

I feel anyone who tells women “it can’t be that bad” or thinks we just overreacted should try this out, even if it’s not the most accurate simulation of it. Just so they understand what we go through every month and so they understand what they try to just dismiss. Respect to every guy who recognizes what we go through and tries their best to help ❤☺
Normally they shouldn't be bad. If they are bad, then medical attention is needed. I've had periods from age 11-49. They should not be excruciating, and life shouldn't stop for you in that time
I very much disagree with these period and labor simulators. They make mens bodies do things they aren't designed to do. Of course it's going to be excruciating for them. Periods should NOT be excruciating or debilitating. My first bit of advice to everyone who is experiencing excruciating pain or debilitating pain is to first change your diet. See a nutritionist. Get your vitamins and mineral levels checked. If that's not the problem, see a doctor.

So often other women tell me to quit being dramatic with my endometriosis pains because their period is way less painful.
I agree, I can’t imagine really bad endometriosis. That pain can vary for each women and you don’t get enough support. I don’t tend to get much cramping after the first day so I lucked out and don’t understand how it is for even average peridods! But I have strong hormonal mood swings before and during: people always think that means I just cry ha. I don’t cry much, but I feel very irritated, lonely/depressed, hyper focusing on tasks, insomnia. PMDD has been thrown about lately, but so many drs over the years just said PMS is normal, cuz women are overreacting clearly 🙄 anything related to women’s health is minimized or we are infantilized, even by women doctors and nurses!
I don’t get bad cramps anymore but a few years ago my cramps got so bad I threw up in the red center then I felt better afterwards. Recently I had cramps when I was sleeping It’s hard to sleep with cramps and they were just moderate pain level.I use to get cramps before my period that were really mild like a 1-3 than the closer I got to my period the cramps slowly got more painful until they were a level 6 probably. My best friend in high school had very bad cramps that went to her legs I kept telling her to be tough but I don’t how it felt I didn’t hardly get cramps as a teenager.
Yeah, as someone who has very light period cramps usually, I felt represented by Michaela xD I think the other girls are used to way more pain and I feel very lucky not to be one of them...
Yeah, also have the women Tell what their average Periode pain Level IS really helps making the comparison a valid one!
Lome light cramps do Not compare to those where one faints, IT IS Not a Universal experience!!
My favorite was: "You know, I go for a walk when I have my period."
Oh yes, fine, I sometimes didn't even know how to get from the bathroom to the living room....
Having suffered with endometriosis my whole life, getting a hysterectomy was one of the best decisions I ever made. I was in the ER nearly every month going into shock and nearly losing consciousness from the pain. Doctors STILL were hesitant to do it even though I have 4 kids, and it took a uterine prolapse to get them to do it. Ladies and gentlemen, please don't ever downplay the pain your woman is feeling. It should never be that bad, but it is, and it's very, very real. Kudos to these dudes willing to subject themselves to a piece of the pain.
So sorry to hear that. To be fair, a lot of women don’t fully understand what a hysterectomy does to them hormonally. And It can be really damaging to them psychologically if they are unprepared for the consequences. Because it’s such a life-changing and invasive surgery, doctors will always push back to be sure the patient understands the gravity of it.
@@melindamercier6811 it's just frustrating that men can get a vasectomy with little trouble while some doctors will ask for a woman's husband's permission or they just won't do it
@@melindamercier6811 As long as the woman is appraised of the risks, then it should be her choice.
Sending you huge, but gentle, hugs.
You are *SO FREAKIN' STRONG!* Honestly, I don't know how you managed to get through that kind of pain for such a significant amount of your life. And all while raising four kids!
So many people don't understand what it feels like to get the kind of cramps that you had. A friend of mine once described it as having a hot poker jammed up the rectum. That sounded about right to me.
I was extraordinarily lucky to only land in the ER once from endometriosis cramps. It blows my mind that you had to live with the awful anticipation of having to go through that kind of agony *every month!* In my case, we knew endometriosis runs in the family, so my mom and her ob/gyn took me seriously. The ob/gyn confirmed the diagnosis surgically, started me on birth control, and gave me meds to help take the edge off the pain when the cramps were at their worst (this was in 1995, when doctors prescribed pain meds to those who needed them).
I had a Grade 3 uterine prolapse several years ago. None of my doctors had seen a prolapse in someone so young who had never been pregnant. 😆 We didn't know then that the prolapse was a symptom of the genetic disorder I hadn't yet been diagnosed with. I searched for and found a doctor who would perform a surgery that's used in the UK to repair a prolapse without a hysterectomy or the use of mesh. I would have chosen a hysterectomy if I hadn't gotten acceptable relief from the cramps with my Mirena IUD.
Anyway, the only reason I'm explaining any of this is because I have a very faint inkling of the hell you've survived because of my own experiences. I can also imagine how you were treated in the ER during some of those visits. Hospital staff aren't always terribly compassionate to people who have extreme pain. Though I understand why they become jaded, it's still upsetting to be in agony, need help, and to get punished for other people's choices, instead.
I'm so happy for you that you'll never have to endure another round of endometriosis cramps, but I'm sorry that it took so long and a significant surgery for you to live without that pain. 💙
@@melindamercier6811 well I guess I was a lucky one then! my Dr said 'it's not for me to tell you that you may want children one day, you are a grown woman and if you have decided, then lets get this done!'. No kids, 32 and done. Best thing that ever happened to me.
I ALSO want to mention that some girls get it the moment they turn 10. 10. A ten year old girl is suffering through what grown up men can’t handle, not even FLINCHING. Respect to the rest of the girls who got it at 10, I remember my friend straight up crying when she she got it.

You guys should do a part two making the guys do a day in the life of period cramps, really doing stuff. Women can't just sit around and do nothing, we still have to work, take care of kids, run errands, etc, let's see if you guys can! Excellent video! 👌👍
Why are you mad at men for the fact that you have periods? Blame biology lmao
Yes!!!!!
Some women periods last from 5-7 days! Don't forget that a lot of women have abnormal periods, (that would be me, also with the 5-7 days also), extremely heavy bleeding, so much so that my bleeding caused me to become anemic, I swear I'm not lying! My doctor had to put me on something to stop my periods completely bcuz they were that SERIOUS!
So guys, remember, you get to do this for fun, but for a lot of us women, periods are pure torcher! Imagine hurting so much from this that you can't even get up and being in that much pain for days non stop with blood literally GUSHING out of you at school, at work, wherever etc. And you STILL HAVE TO GET UP AND PARTICIPATE IN YOUR LIFE DESPITE FEELING LIKE YOU'RE LITERALLY DYING... for DAYSSSSSSS???????
IT HURTS LIKE HELL!!!!!!!! PLZ BELIEVE THAT!!!!! (🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔😳😳😳😳😳🤯🤯🤯🤯🤯🤯🤯)
Plzzzzzzzz do a part two to this!!!!!!! Plzzzzzzzz!
Either you have a horrid bf/husband, or you're just straight up evil.
Heck yes!
also dont forget the extreme pain on your lower back, pelvic, thighs, knees, head, bowels, both upper and lower stomach and sometimes even ankles. and then try to go on about your day for 3-7 days a month each month and not being able to stop binge eating, getting tons of acne, mood swings that if someone says something even slightly "irritaing" i start screaming and crying, being nauseaus and waiting to throw up, period cramps like knives stabbing your lower belly making you get diarrhea, & getting called lazy or overly dramatic for not being able to do regular things "properly" and not being in the best mood.
Is that your boyfiend/husband calling you that? Two words: Ditch them. Is it a family member? Cut them out of your life.
It's even worse because my anger issues are bad so I get irritated easily.
Caroline, get checked for endometriosis. I “powered through” period pain that was sharp and no amount of pain killer could dull, thinking all women felt what I did. For YEARS. Turns out it was endometriosis and it got really bad. WHY didn’t I tell my Doc about off-the-charts pain sooner??
@@carolinesmithson7712 I agree with another commenter. Get checked for endometriosis. I had them. I was put on tablets to stop my periods for 6 months. I had normal periods after that. I was lucky though the endometriosis didn’t come back.
Don’t forget the lethargy that comes with it and you have push through that and get your stuff done.
And that's just one PHYSICAL pain we're talking. We experience cramps along with headaches, diarrhea, nausea, back pain, abdominal pain, constipation, acne, tender breast etc. As if cramps is already not enough🥲
And then, MOOD SWINGS! IRRITATIONS! STRESS!
Edit: I felt the need to name them all lol but still these isn't all.
Exactly!!
And the stress and worry of leaking through your clothes and if you use pads or period pants and are unlucky to get clots as long and thick as your finger having to put up with that sitting in your pants til you can go to the toilet to get rid of it.
If you have PMDD, then it’s even worse. I take birth control so I only have 4 periods a year because they’re so bad. Plus this is just the week before. I still have to deal with the cramps the next week.
Look, they're already trying out that simulator. At least be grateful about it and thankfully for you, there's no simulator for you to try that's about what male's life is about.
You forgot the leg pain/fatigue
"Taking it like a champ" means keeping your job.
Exactly. I think that trying this simulator should be required of all male bosses, so that they refrain from the 'you spend too much time in the toilet' schtick.
And then juggling breastfeeding. Working moms are amazing, carrying the world throughout all the pain and discomfort.
The pain used to knock me unconscious while I was lying down. There’s not a lot will power can do to overcome that. I do wish people could understand that. I nearly had to leave university because I was so ill from it. It went on and on relentlessly. I had about one good week a month. One unconscious week a month. And two miserable weeks either side. And then trying to work….yeah, that’s great but I’m unconscious. Or stuck in a bath full of blood and so dizzy I can’t get myself out….true story…….
Fun times.
The worst part is, that the cramps sometimes start a few days prior to the actual period.
Yes. I hate this so much!😢
And then some have small cramps during ovulation 🙃
Hate it
And end a few days after so like half the month is cramps...
Yuuuuuuuup! I think I’m getting them right now, and I’m not supposed to start for three more days!
I asked my tattoo artist this question. He immediately said that women had way better pain tolerance
I once got through an ovarian cyst rupture on 600mg of advil. Woke me up at 3am feeling like someone stabbed me, took some advil, used my hands to take pressure off my abdomen and was back sleeping within an hour. Only found out what it was the next day when I mentioned it to my mother. She and the doctor both lectured me that I should have called an ambulance.
Yes, women have higher pain tolerances simply because we deal with pain so often. We've evolved to, simply out of self preservation.
@@aalikane😮 that’s crazy

@@sieg6635Studies suggest women have higher pain tolerance due to labour.
@@scrimpscromp not true. The overwhelming majority (if not all) studies show men have a higher pain tolerance on average. Just search it up and you’ll see it right in front of you. Also, why would childbirth mean you have a higher pain tolerance? You’re able to give birth because you merely have the anatomy to do so, not because of pain tolerance. Not only is your claim wrong, but so is your reasoning. And studies actually substantiate my claim, and unlike you I could quote them but I’ll give you the chance to do some actual research first.

It does cause bad mood, though? I get that you meant indirectly because of pain and general misery, but there are major hormonal and emotional factors at play too
@@ricksaburai there’s definitely a hormonal hit, sometimes everything feels overwhelmingly bad and I use to feel it physically like a wave in my body. Lots of crying you feel helpless to stop. But I think it’s the pain and the mess for a solid 4-6 days - it’s 24/7, it doesn’t stop, you just get tired of the gross hassle and then yeah, it makes you grouchy. AND you water bloat, so your clothes feel tighter. It kind of sucks all around and it happens for a good 1/5 of your every single month. Every girls period feels different. Some get it extreme with severe pain and others don’t even get any pain at all. It’s not a one size fits all experience
I always had horrendous periods. I had uterus removed due to 5 lb tumor. I'm glad it's done, but the hormones keep you young. Length of periods also vary, I didn't know other women's periods were so short. Threw up first 2 days, clammy and cramps with huge clots, last 14 days, the cramps squeezed the blood into abdominal cavity. Took forever then 18 days later it would happen again.
I think that's why the girl who said "I get bad periods" before starting said all it did was tickle. Every girl does experience them differently. But seeing the other girls made me feel a bit bad for her.
True, mine tend to vary as well. Some months it's not too bad and then all of a sudden I'm almost fainting because of the pain
bruh one month I went from not noticing I had started it, and then the next to thinking I was having severe stomach/intestinal problems unable to even get out of bed. kinda just silently cradling myself debating whether I should get the hell up and go to the bathroom or just stay there and cry. it was the first time that i was relieved to find that it was just period cramps, but damn, what a bitch they can be. my cycles are pretty irregular in intensity. its like spinning a wheel every month.
Yeah before I didn't feel any pain but since 2 years it's horrible I'm like having a gastro I vomit and I even take médoc because it Hurt me too much lol
It's difficult to give a bench mark of normal perod pain because it really depends on the person. The first girl's normal is a 6 but another girl's normal could be an 8. It really varies.

I have never tried this simulator but my periods aren’t painful. I get occasional cramps and my back hurts but definitely not as much as other women.
Watching this video with cramps is a vibe.
I feel like this experience for the people in the video gives the boys a new perspective on how much the girls tolerate, having to, or feeling obligated to act normal, having to hear things like, "this is normal, stop acting weird." I really get mad when the PE teachers force us to run laps, do jumping jacks, or other things like this on the time of the month. And while in this game, you can 'tap out' but in real life if you want to give up, you have to wait 7 (around) days. I still remember my first period, I was in the restroom the whole day, crying my eyes out. I was really unused to it, and at the time I think I remember drinking something cold, so it REALLY hurt... This may come out as offensive, but I really get fired up on these things. Sorry if you feel otherwise! 😅

Then the wet feeling on your ladyparts if you're using a pad, the stupid string getting stuck if you're using tampons, something leaking, blood going up your butt, the general ick every time you go to the bathroom, the loss of appetite and nausea, being hyper sensitive to any stimulus, it's just awful

Just FYI, women get more sensitive at different times of the month. Women's pain threshold goes down significantly the week before our periods. Most beauticians advise against getting waxed that week.
Fun fact: The TENS unit is actually used for moderate to severe back pain relief. Basically, it causes pain so that you don't notice the other pain, I guess. My husband had one when he'd herniated a disk in his back.
TENS machines are great. If you turn it up high enough to cause muscle contractions and keep it there for 10-20 minutes, it can actually relieve knots in your muscles by working them until they loosen up.
Which makes sense because during labor I had my husband "massage" my lower back to the point of pain since it was better than the rest of the pain I was feeling. Lol
@@lauraelliott6909 yup, thats what I use it for.

I must applaud this entire crew. They were so much fun to watch. Every male should have to experience this. Especially if a female has to miss school or work because of so much pain and she has unsympathetic teachers or supervisors.
I used to have extremely bad period cramps, to the point I would have to go home and go to bed with a heat pad. After my first baby though, I don’t even feel when a period comes in. Not sure if having 3 babies naturally increased my pain tolerance or if some bad cells were cleaned out after first baby, but it’s great now!
I have been having bad cramps since my college days. I went to visit an OB-Gyne just this year. I had ultrasound and all, she told me I can take medication or get pregnant. I guess getting pregnant is really helpful
After having my three, I think it’s mostly your body going “ok, now I’ve had worse, so the cramps are nowhere near that pain but is still pain” lol
I hardly have cramps either after having baby's. I've wondered that to if your body has more pain tolerance or your period gets better
My guess is your hormones change.
For me, I had no problems despite having PCOS (the worst is bleeding for 3 weeks straight, heavy af) but after my 2nd, it changed and now the cramps are so bad it makes me feel I'm going to be sick. I end up staying in bed with however many thick towels as I need until I have to change the pad. It's frustrating, but I suppose the good thing about getting older is that I hopefully won't have to go thru this for much longer.
Imagine having to go to office and doing your job with level 6-7 and then there's blood flow too. And then there are male collegues and bosses who give us hard time too.

I thought this was hilarious. You guys actually had it easy. All you had to do was sit there, for a few minutes with that type of pain. If you TRULY want to experience what we women experience with menstrual cramps, try that device on 4-7, THEN GO ABOUT YOUR DAY. Drive with it, run errands with it, vacuum the whole house with it, stand there doing dishes. Go to work and DO your work with that thing on all day. Eat your meals, sit quietly and watch tv, or read, or do whatever it is you do. Have a normal conversation that doesn't include the pain you are in. If you normally run, or go to the gym, then do it with that device on. Don't forget to sleep with it on, too! Use that device, non-stop, for AT LEAST 3 days. ONLY THEN will you have an inkling of what we women experience EVERY MONTH.
I say an inkling, because you are only dealing a part of the pain. You aren't dealing with the bloating, the discomfort that is separate from the pain. You aren't having to deal with the actual discharge, or the slight nausea that can also accompany that pain. You are also not dealing with the hormonal changes that also come with a menstrual period. You aren't dealing with the headaches that can also come with a menstrual period.
These are all things that we women face every month... a lot of times with men making fun of us, thinking our menstrual periods are a joke... making light of them, like it's just an excuse for us to be mean, or get hysterical.
I'm not trying to demean you, please don't think that I am. I just hope to make you understand that the pain simulator you experienced for a few moments does not truly compare to what it feels like to have a menstrual period.
Okay, Okay, you guys win! Women are the tougher sex okay? Just reading that made me eel inadequate.
@@str8apem88 I'm not trying to make you feel inadequate. I never was. What I DID do, I hope, was got you thinking. Not to put too fine a point on it, but using those pain simulators for a few minutes, and thinking they actually understand what it's like to have menstrual cramps?!? It was actually demeaning to women, if you truly think about it, not that I believe that was their intention.
Men do have a tendency to demean and belittle women when it comes to menstrual periods. It can be debilitating for some women, not all of us, and not all the time. If I've made you think about it, and given you some understanding, and perhaps compassion the next time you come across a woman dealing with her menstrual period, then I've accomplished what I set out to do. :)
@@sdmcdaniel2255 Hard to not feel that way when apparently twelve year old girls can go all the way up to level 9 on this thing (as said by one of the comments here) without flinching, meanwhile most guys can barely handle mid level without crying like wussies. I mean damn, are we that weak? Also, never once mocked women on their periods, nor belittled them.
@@str8apem88 I didn't say you did :) But a lot of men out there do. I've been on the receiving end of that mockery many times.
Men are not weak, just because they can't handle the pain we women do. You have to realize, the first time, or even the first few times we women go through a menstrual period... we don't handle it well, at all. I remember my very first. I was in high school, 14, and even though I knew what was happening (after a bit) it scared me witless! I knew what it was, I knew why it was happening, but there were so many things I wasn't told. Like how much it could hurt! The nausea, the headaches, the way my skin and clothes felt tight because of the bloating. How long the pain lasted. But after dealing with it for a few months, I got used to it. That's where our strength lies... we handle it, because we have to, and because we get used to it. Women's strength is the strength to endure. Men's strength is to be proactive. I don't know what kind of work you do, but men have the strength to do jobs that most women couldn't do. We all have our strengths and weaknesses. God made us to compliment each other.... not compete with each other...
@@str8apem88It's not that you're weak, it's just a pain you've never had to deal with before almost every month of your life. That's the difference. At some point for us women, we just have to deal with it even if it hurts like hell.
"It can't be that bad" - Colby's famous last words 🤣
Now imagine having that all day for 4-7 days or even longer every month😭
Edit: 4 months after my comment, I'm writing this edit (more like a novella) because I started tracking my period cramps. About 3-4 days before my period starts, my cramps are usually at their worst. It's not that bad, but I feel like a sharp needle is poking my lower belly every few minutes. When my period starts, the pain isn't unbearable on its own (if I focus on it for like 10 seconds), but the problem is that it DOES NOT stop for at least 5 days. So, while the pain isn't too bad, having it every second of every day makes me want to take my eyes out. Then, on the 6th and 7th day of my period, it's fine. My period has always lasted 7 days, no more, no less.
Now, my sister has endometriosis, and I cannot imagine the pain she must be going through. So, as I like to feel like an impostor (sarcasm of course), I just don't talk about my pain and try to live with it, cause that's what everyone else does.
Cramps don't usually last the whole period time. Only 1-2 days. Plus, there's always Tylenol or so.
@@esval3054 They sometimes last longer for me. But yeah, you're right, there's medicine.
@@esval3054 my mom doesn't ever let me take medicine. Migraine. Deal with it. Cramps. Go lay down.
Those with endometriosis can have much more than 2-4 days pain and it can be extreme for well over 5 to 7 days speaking from personal experience of over 15 years
@@KaivalaJenva Can confirm. I have adenomyosis which is like endometriosis on steroids. My cramps start a few days before I even bleed and its constant. Periods can last anywhere from 5-12 days for me and sometimes I end up getting it twice in the same month. Have been told my level of pain is comparable to giving birth. Adenomyosis made me infertile too so. Yep. I've taken hardcore painkillers given to me by the hospital before and they hardly take the edge off. Most girls/women go undiagnosed like I did with thinks like we mentioned, cysts, fibroids or things like pcos for nearly their entire lives and suffer because we always get told that's how its supposed to be and suck it up. It isn't. If you have heavy periods and your cramps are so bad you throw up and have trouble moving around go to the doctor. Do not listen to anyone trying to tell you its normal. Its not. And they can help you. For me it progressed to the point the only option I have left is to have a hysterectomy. I went undiagnosed until I was 25 and was able to see a doctor on my own. And even then it took me seeing 4 different doctors to be taken seriously.
If you want a true depiction.. You need them low tummy, low back and inside thighs so it radiates thru the groin. You can leave it on 4 so you have consistent low grade pain and then periodically bump it to 7or 8 for half a minute so you can have the sensation of clots moving through tubes. That's no joke. You get used to low grade constant but those clots can make you lose your breath, get dizzy and nauseous... My mom passed out from it a few times when I was a kid.
Omg this is so accurate
If it hurts in the thighs you should def also get checked for a cyst! That’s how I found out 😢
I agree, most of these videos don’t place them accurately enough, def not low enough on the abdomen at least 😂
Yeah, the cramps definitely come in waves. It’ll be fine for a few minutes, and then BAD PAIN, and then okay, and then BAD PAIN.
Mine are also mostly back cramps, but can also be both front and back. It sucks.
I used to work for a chiropractor, and he said he always noticed a difference in pain tolerance between men and women. Even though they experienced similar issues, women would consistently rate it at a lower pain level than men.
The level of pain I felt every month was the same level as the pain I experienced in the 2nd stage labour when giving birth both times. I would take strong pain relief and use several hot water bottles and just curl up with the pain. I didn't have endometriosis. I was always told my pain was 'normal'. I couldn't work while experiencing that amount of pain but almost every manager I had would insist I go to work and would get cross or irritated at me when I tried to explain the amount of pain I was in. I ended up having to lie about the reason I was 'off sick', as I'm sure many women do. This is a great video. Society needs to be more aware of what so many women go through, and being able to call in sick and say you have 'severe period pain' should be seen as acceptable.
I feel like there should have been rounds where you had to do extra tasks while feeling the pain just to see who could complete them better
I happen to have this exact TENS unit, so I tried it. I know my periods can be miserable, but wow... It was at 12, before it was something I would even consider cramping, and 20 was still maybe 20% of my worst cramps.
I will say, those worst cramps lay me out whimpering, because crying might cause more pain 😂
This feels like a pinching tickle. Imagine rather an inch diameter pipe that reaches from lower abdominals to lower back, clamping to parts of your innards pulling it with as the pipe spins... then that pain radiates through your whole body.
Which machine is it?
A period.
Get checked...that sounds like endo type pain....as one who had it...i'm sure i was passed well passed the 20 before my hysterctomy

An accurate test would be to have the guys work while cramping. All sorts of jobs for at least 4 hours straight. Then simulate a learning scenario for another 4 hours where they have to take tests while cramping. It'll be fun to see if the guys can survive the day.
I took my SATs while on day 1 of my period….and I scored a 1220 (I’m old…this was a good score in 1986 lol) yeah, I’d like to see the guys wear that thing for an entire day around a level 4 and see how that feels.
love when one of the guys went "It feels like my abs are just going (makes cramping move with hand)". Yes, yes that's exactly what our womb does when we're in our period. It's pretty much wringing itsself out by cramping together and squeezing the blood out. That's why we feel cramps
And then there's that weird feeling that goes along with the cramps like a gas bubble that's not exactly painful, but it's definitely uncomfy.
Also the "heavy" feeling, like your lower abdomen suddenly weighs more from the bloating and sensitivity, lol!
I was having my period when I had to take a PE exam. Omg literally the worst period ever. Nausea, headaches, backaches, cramps, neck pain, leg pain and shoulder pain. I was supposed to run 2.4 kilometres… thank god my PE teacher excused me from doing that and made me do it after my period stopped ❤️
Yeah, you don't just get to sit around or lie down on your period. You have to go about your day, sometimes lift heavy things, deal with stress etc. Also, periods are not just cramps, there's also acne, bloating, headaches, backaches, diarrhea, breast tenderness, not to mention you always have to worry about pads or tampons, leaking or wearing white. And above it all people will act condescending to you if you act on all those factors.

Ok so just to let you know the shaking leg thing is something some women feel in labour. It feels like tightening in your thighs. When I got pregnant the first time I was super fit and my belly was like a rock. I. Couldn’t feel the contractions. If I really focused I was aware of the tightening in my thighs but was hardly noticeable. 4 pregnancy’s later I was exhausted and needing gas and air. Now my belly could be hired out as a bouncy castle. Ladies, get abs of steel before you get pregnant.
I really doubt how accurate pain feeling these period simulators give. As a woman which have had period pain which make me puke because of the pain. These people don't vomit.
I bet the simulator gives only the feeling of the cramps (easy to handle), not that dull constant pain feeling in your guts not the sharp cutting feeling in your womb not the burning in your back. It feels like an alien is slowly carving it's way out. And it comes with pulses.
It doesn't matter whether boys can handle the pain level or not, but one thing for sure, it happens to all women at level 5/6/7 FOR DAYS.. Imagine how uncomfortable it would be. Props 👏
Everyone is different. So they might not experience strong cramping for more than a few hours or a day or even at all.
Mine is at level 2
This is actually why its thought women should have menstrual period days off. The main problem with that though is that it makes women less marketable for jobs because that means a few days off every month on top of the already existing SL and VL. It's not equitable I know cause women go through this pain but its a harsh reality.
Mine starts as a 7 and then stops after a couple of days
Mine varies, but I don’t think it gets really bad, but it’s still annoying and hurts. And it always comes at the wrong times too, like one time I wasn’t going skiing for a week and my period started at the start of the week. It sucked

the back pain is the worst part to me. it's almost debilitating. I've tried simulators that go up to ten like this and my usual cramps land at a 7 or 8. I wouldn't tap out of work until what I imagine an 11 or 12 would be- but I might still go depending on how much pain medication I take. My periods used to be extremely heavy before I started birth control to help with them, but I'd get extremely dizzy
I use this device for pain relief from endometriosis and PCOS. To be completely accurate, you need to have one machine per person, patches in the front and the back, and then challenges to go about your day, that's what it feels like.
Carol and Colby are like magnets. You’re going to have to keep them apart. Funny vlog!
I got news for you young one. You can go ahead and call men weak, I can tell you're dying to. It's understandable though, this video exposed us.
@nightdwellernerd I just really wish people would be honest and admit part of the goal of these cramp sim vids are to show men that women are more durable than guys. And I understand, year after year of being called the weaker sex would obviously give women the desire for men to eat crow. I'm fine with a little payback (we have it coming really), just quit beating around the bush with it.
@nightdwellernerd And it's understandable like I said, just let it out and let you true feelings show. If you're filled with hate and desire retribution be upfront, I won't judge anymore.

These comments are all so accurate about there being more to periods than just the cramps - the nausea, the diarrhea, the mess, the headaches, bloating, hormone changes, etc. the cramps just barely scratch the surface on what it does to your body. Also, one thing I don’t see mentioned often but I think is still very important to remember too: HAVING A PERIOD COSTS MONEY! You are constantly having to buy pads/tampons and they aren’t cheap! You can get toxic shock syndrome if you wear them for too long so you are constantly having to change them. There’s also been a lot of toxic chemicals like lead and arsenic being found in these products. It doesn’t stop at just what your body goes through.
Omg do you know how much joy this brings me to see men go through the same struggles we got to go through even if it was for a little while. Cuz like sometimes I feel like they just don't get it like it hurts like a bitch and we have to endure it for 7days every month of every year for a big part of our lives and yet we tell women to tuff it out (words I got from my dad got really mad at him for that) like honestly I would love to see you "men" try to go through just a day of period cramps and act like everything was alright.
I loved watching this!! So funny and entertaining. But honestly, the girls will always win this one!!🙌🏻🙌🏻
Next time you have to do daily activities while using the simulator. Carry a glass of water across the room, stand up sit down, just walking....etc 🙂
Something important to take into consideration is that really painful cramps are not typical. However, women with endometriosis or other reproductive struggles can have debilitating cramps that cause a multitude of symptoms. It also doesn't seem as though the simulator pads are in the proper places. Maybe try putting some on the lower abdomen near the groin and some on the lower back near the coccyx. That might feel more realistic.
The thing I wish the guys would really fathom is it's not just a matter of how much you can tolerate, Its pain you can't tolerate unrelenting while you have to go about your life and work and school, all while bleeding so much it's literally making you sick, being hormonal do you wanna cry or kill someone, I mean the other things we have to deal with on top of the pain are countless and underrated and seriously under-respected!
For me, it’s all about the location and reason for the pain. I can take muscular pain at extreme levels, but if my feet hurt (tight shoes all day), my life is destroyed. I lived with 2 herniated discs for 10 years because I was too scared to have spinal surgery.
While the pain is an important aspect, and this is a great experiment, it’s important to remember that women deal with more than just pain. It’s also large dips in energy and mood at certain times, and it can be exacerbated by stress, diet, various factors some of which are controllable and some not. It’s complex and would be great if more men understood how challenging it is to be a woman.
Such a bonding experience (and entertaining as heck). Well done, boys and girls.
