Ah yes... giant mecha battles and 5 champions in loud primary colors that fought against space menaces... popular before the power rangers ever came into the scene. Also its great when you got the lion version and not the vehicles version of Voltron, but both are good in their own way.
I watched this cartoon when I was a kid during the early 80’s. This was one of many favorite cartoons during the 80’s. It’s was good time to be kid during the decade of awesome cartoons.
Voltron was Undisputed!! Also Gai king ,Grandizer ,Star Dragon, Dan Gaurd Ace,were the pioneers..also remember the cartoon Mighty Orbots?..That was another good 80s one.
Fun fact, we all know this version of Voltron was from Beast King Golion (pronounced as Go Lion in the series). But originally this was supposed to be Future Robot Daltanious, however when World Events asked for three shows from Toei and requested "the one with the lion", Toei confused Daltanious with Golion and that is how we got that series instead. Although Daltanious wasn't that bad, it was not Golion. Golion did not do that well in Japan either at its original release. But thankfully that error was made.
This show is very awesome. For a long time, I thought the series took place in the 25th century. However two years ago, according to some intel about the counterpart Go Lion, it takes place in a futureristic version of 1999.
My first love, I had the big ass metal or heavy VOLTRON toy and I'm sure it all attached or so or was one full unit but they always played this cartoon mad early and I had to go to school, the intro, the lions, VOLTRON, the pilots, LEGENDARY
Netflix's Voltron Legendary Defender is a fantastic series, state of the art animation and clearly made with a lot of love for the source material (Voltron as well as the original GoLion and Dairugger). 78 episodes total. I used to wish they would make a live action movie, but now that this show exists, I think it wouldn't do the job nearly as well.
The 80s and 90s cartoon intros Were classics Ta ta ta tata ta ...etc then Voltron defender of the Universe... which sounds like the flash gordon song still totally epic 😆
If this was set in the Star Wars universe Jedi Master Yoda would say 'Undoing his Arrogance will Be' and that saying would be true as Zarkon's arrogance was always his undoing and why his forces always loose to the Voltron Force.

With Voltron’s 40th Anniversary only a year away, I think a good way to pay tribute to the show is to go back and dub Beast King GoLion in its original uncut form.
Keith should have worn the outfit the with the black trim, Lance should have worn the one with the red trim and Sven should have worn his outfit with the blue trim to match up with their respective Lion robots.
It also robbed my grandad's wallet. I had the plastic Voltron, great for using your imagination. All 5 lions, but it was the cheap version. My cousin smashed it because she was a dik. I was crushed and my gramps knew I took that thing everywhere. We couldn't find it anywhere, but the mall had the large metal one that was like $57 at that time, which was a lot for a toy in the mid-80s. He didn't know the difference between the two so he just grabbed it and bought it. Tell you what, my grandad was my hero for a lot of reasons, but I knew at that moment that I was his favorite grandkid, because he never bought sh*t for any of my cousins or my sister ever. That Voltron got sold by my evil aunt when I went to boot camp, so whoever bought a near mint Voltron in 1992 from an angry lady at a yardsale in Ohio, I hope you kept it.
Let's hope not. We don't need yet another ruined childhood animated series like the live action version of The Bay-Formers or those atrocious live action G.I. Joe. films.

I didn't like the new version. 80s' visuals feel vastly superior to the modern cold CGI, the character behaviour was way too slapsticky in the new one and the music was way better in the original as well.
I would love to see a modern Hollywood movie of Voltron, even though there is already a tv series knockoff or copycats of Voltron made called, Mighty Morphin Power Rangers. Bruce Payne would make the perfect actor to play Prince Lotor. Jennifer Aniston should play Princess Allura. Tom Welling play Keith. Elijah Wood or Tom Holland should play Pidge. Kevin Bacon play Lance. Kevin James play Hunk. Of course, the original narrator and character of Coran should be played by the voice talented, Canadian actor, Peter Cullen.
Ypu should talk about Violence Jack by Go Nagai, because without that things like Fist of the North Star and I think even Mad Max where inspired by it and many more.

If you had ever actually bothered to WATCH Voltron, you would know that the castle diplomat's name is pronounced " Cor-ăn' " with the short a in the accented second syllable. If you never even watched the series, what gives you any sort of right to review it?
I was like 5 or 6 when this was on in America.. and it took me all of like 2 episodes to be sick and tired of fcukin Voltron... A) they won the same way every time-- vertical slice down the middle, so annoying... B) more importantly, the friggin monsters they had to fight got cooler, and deadlier and stronger and just better looking each week.... ONE of them had to win, at least once, come on! Or the head bad guy had to have had SOME sorta scouting report on Voltron and could've told the beast, "watch out for the big ass jumping sword strike-- it killed my last 78 monsters, but I got a good feeling about you, ESPECIALLY with this sword info! Now get out there and win one for the Skip!"
