yes you can but you honestly would be better off doing no sidechain. Its actually not needed in most cases and will only let the kick shine through a little better. So if I were you, I wouldnt worry about it too much until you can get the pro q 3
So basically the audio is routed as Kick -> Return Track -> 808 Track. Remember: the Kick has to punch through the 808 because they're in the same frequency range. The A knob controls Reverb sends and the B knob controls Delay sends, so you have to turn the C knob (notice "C" in your new Return track you created) all the way up on both the Kick track and the Return (Sidechain) track so that the sidechaining works (check the fluctuations in your 808 track to see the Kick punching through. tldr: turn the C knob all the way up on both your "Kick" track and your "Sidechain" return track
okay lets clear the air.... Don't need Return Track!! only need to duplicate your kick track Rename it Sidechain and change 'audio to' to 808 the Pro Q programming is still the same process and the sub routing will appear as shown in this vid on the return track the only drawback is if you work out of drum rack there's no way to have the side chain inside it (organization purposes) the kick needs to be outside on its own midi track with the audible kick inside drumrack or out doesn't matter now resume making fire beats!!!
Ya I do not use drum rack to make my beats. It is very limiting in the capabilities you can do with it. I would recommend getting your initial idea down in the drumrack and then separating them all into their own tracks, that way you'll be able to do everything you need to.
@@FearlessBeatzMusic yo I 100% agree drum rack is hella limiting.... at least until I recently discovered you can put return tracks inside it and then in return route that out to a main return in session view thus doing this entire tutorial inside drum rack which I think cuts down cpu usage less plugins less effects just gotta know that signal flow lol
@@FearlessBeatzMusic and also I subbed you thank you for showing this game changer pro tip been using this ever since and haven't touched a compressor since too
Great info! the only thing missing for the fabfilter part is that you have to put the C return at 100% on the kick to make it work. Thanks!
thank you bro. appreciate you for cutting out a lot of the bs and getting straight to the point. definitely dropped a lot of gems
Great tutorial, thank you!
Really appreciate a side chain video addressing clean, punching bass, without a bunch of delay and additional crap. Well-done.
Yessir thank you fam! No more compression side chain in 2021!

Doesn't work as well... That's why he made this video.. so we don't make those rookie mistakes

Thank you for this golden tip!
No problem!!
Great video!!!
Thank you!
This is great but you didn't show us how you did assign your kick and 808 tracks to the "DRUMS" bus, I'm confused.
