Quick thing at 1:47. You said faster both times. The second time being faster, while the first is slower. Might be confusing for beginners, and needs a little edit.
He also incorrectly said slow release when he set the release dial to the last setting on the right which is “automatic release”. Several errors on this video!
This is actually a really awesome simple way of explaining key concepts and tactics to use the glue compressor. Which, is exactly what I was looking for so thank you so much for finally clearing up the last bit of questions I had.
This is so short yet so concise, thank you bro! Been binge-watching your content after getting Ableton and your videos really helped a lot in particular the mixing template.
another helpful video imo! I have learned this a lil in my school, but you helped me understand this 100%. Now I feel more confident. just wanna say thanks basically :)
What you said worked for me for the most part, i'm having trouble with my 808's not clipping on the "Clip" light (on the actual Glue Compressor). It's still lighting up even though its peak level isn't going past 0 db. help! i adjusted the threshold to -5 db and added 2 db of makeup
If you want to parallel compress, yes that is the right thing to do. Your basically adding another layer that is compressed on top of the original layer that is not compressed in this example
You could turn down the volume of snare in this case? What is the reason of using a glue compressor vs turning down(tweaking) each individual channels' volume?
Let's say you play the snare using a midi controller, or even set velocity per note (how hard it's "struck"). Some notes are more quiet and don't need to be reduced in volume. Reducing the snare track volume would affect these snare hits too much most likely. So the compressor will kick in on the snare hits that are harder making them sit a little nicer in the mix. Certain instruments sound different depending on how much velocity is used, so the note will retain most of that while being compressed vs a quieter note with different dynamics. This is my take on it, not necessarily correct or applicable to all cases.
@@AfromanSkeeter i thought compression was taking off the dynamics and quieting it down so when you bring it back up to its original volume it doesnt get all fucky wucky wit da compression
@@FearlessBeatzMusic is there a video where you explain how you group and process your drums? I’ve looked through some of your videos on mixing and you route them to a sends channel but I can’t find where you show how to do it. I appreciate your content msn not a lot of guys are putting up quality ableton videos

Thanks for pointing that out! Hopefully people catch that like you did!

So you don't apply the glue compressor directly on the group of the drums, you put it on a return track, like pararel compressing, right?

Nice dude, much more helpful than the other tutorials
Thanks fam! Glad it helped out!
Hey bro what attack, release and ratio would u suggest on compressing vocals? It’d be very helpful if I can get an answer thank you🙏
Idk you need to test it out and see for yourself. Use your ears not your eyes for music

Can you please explain how to add glue compressor while mastering?
I dont put the glue compressor on my master.
@@FearlessBeatzMusic what do you mean 'on my master' isnt there one version only of the song?
Hi, i used Ableton live lite and i couldnt find this glue compressor only normal compressor. Is glue compressor available on lite version?
No, you would have to buy one of the other versions if you want that plugin
Best on yt👌
Thank you fam I appreciate those kind words!
Thank you sir!
the glue compressor audio effect isn't on my Ableton for some reason. how can I add it ??? plz help lol
its because you have the lite version of ableton
I can’t find glue compressor on ableton. How can I add it ?? I have the paid version
I believe that you need the suite version to get that one. The regular compressor will work for all your compression needs though!
Doesn’t a limiter so the same thing? Takes transients and pushes them down?
no a limiter limits how loud the track can play
Do you not include the kick in your drum bus?
I wouldnt normally do that. The kick and 808 are separate from everything else
