Thank you, its great to see real life wear, tear and causalities of these Ultimas. Instead of people turning them into shelf queens or glossing over their frailties. Thanks for sharing part numbers and the handful of tips. Great content.
I've been running a flat piece of less bent up at the front as an undertray on my original replica for years and after the Lakeland classic thought it could do with replacing for the Revival. I bought the same, hoped the sides on the Turbo Ultima undertray would fit on it around the rear section, and also by the time I'd finished trimming it I ended up with a flat plate. Hopefully Steve will come up with a tray that wraps the edges of the chassis at the front then opens up to fit the body sides at the rear.
Wow, you really shredded that diff gear! I guess that did not update that part for modern day power! I am team gear diff but then again I am not a racer. I just love the hassle free, worry free toughness of them. Built it up once and not have to worry about it until much, much later! I am sure if I was any good at driving I may be able to appreciate the subtle tuning and smoothness of the ball diff but that's not me! I really hope the next outing goes a lot better for you and you don't have to come home and wrench on it all over again!
Greetings from Japan! 😁 Great video and very useful. 👍 I'm finally getting around to building my JJ Ultima and hoping that now you've ran it in several races you can give me a little setup advice? My plan is to enter it into a vintage class race on carpet. I've already fitted the gear diff, but now I'm trying to dial in the suspension settings. In stock spec I feel it sits way too high, especially at the front. I put #450 weight oil in the front/rear, went with shock piston "B" and installed the gold springs (hard) all round, but it still feels a little soft and under damped on the bench. Any advice on springs, pistons, oil etc would be very much appreciated. 🙂 Thanks!
@@lo2713 I did initially before I put all together. Maybe better to do the gear diff instead of ball diff but wanted to know how it's assembled together with these parts (UT008, OT221, OT222, OT224B)
@@TheVlaladia i just got the instructions for the rere ultima on line, saves buying them 👍 the gear diff is A great upgrade if your running on high grip 👍
Hey mate, can you recommend which premounted 2.2 wheels and tire setups fit this car? Fwiw, I am looking at jconcepts and need carpet setup... just don't know what the fitment compatibility is. Thanks!!!
wow what bad news. if mine blows up like that thats definetly the last kyosho i bought. What a shame, My old turbo ultima diff did hold up forever, how can they ruin the diff to insert one that doesnt hold at all?
I dont thing driving it like i was grass helped 😂 if your running high grip the gear diff is a must. But the ball diff will be back in once we hit the grass track again 😎
some of the parts are in both bags so when you show 4 bags your getting drive axles and diff gears and cases and maybe others duplicated.. looks like you can just order KU7 and get a complete ultima gear diff.
My replica is still running the 35 year old gears that were in it when it got raced every week back in the 80s, and still got through 4 revivals and the Lakeland Classic without failing 😎 😁
I had the slipper as loose as i wanted didnt lift the front, and could brake really late and hard. But the gear diff is better for high grip, ball diff will get fitted when we hit the grass again 😎
Yeah, sending out the part, when its in stock 🤔 so god knows how long it will be ? But wont need it till we head back outdoors. For now, its indoor carpet season. Roll on April 😂
@@martinhsrc6699 not really, but there was that post saying to run lots of slip on the slipper and upgrade the slipper pads. Nothing in the manual, and like you said. Cars are run with no slipper fine ? At £400 im supprised it let go. But could of been a bad part ? Who knows

Thank you, ive nothing against people having them as shelf queens, but they need to earn a spot to go on my shelf 😂
great video, thanks for showing the part numbers. I have ordered some spares to upgrade my car now.

Yeah ive asked him, but we’ll have to wait and see 👍
If not I'll have a go at a mould myself
Great vid, just shared it on my kyosho off road army Facebook group to help others out 👍🏻
Cheers, gonna be a lot of kyosho vids dropping 😎 waiting on the mid 87 worlds now. But that will be box art, for now 😎
Great video, thanks for sharing the learnings and advice, very helpful. 😎👏💪👍
Cheers, hopefully have some track footage next week 🤞 just depends if i can find a willing camera man 🤔

Its been updated, but cant hack hard driving on hight grip. But i just dont understand geardiffs and swapping oils 😂
Looks fantastic! To bad about the diff, considering the price point on that buggy🤔anyway thank you for sharing and have a great weekend!🙂
Cheers, yeah. Wasnt expecting the diff to fail 😮

Hi, i’ll have a dig through my car and see what the set up was, it wasnt perfect but i like a little understeer on my cars 👍
@@lo2713 Thanks! Any info would be very helpful. 🙂
Good luck tomorrow Richard , hope the JJ gives you trouble free running .
Cheers, will have a larl film out later in the week, if it any good lol
Superglue around the outer edges of the front tires. Should help with traction roll. Good vid.
Thats what i had to do yesterday, allways a fail safe 😂
Nice tips there 😊 Must be something to run such an iconic car 👍
It was great, would love to have an original. Or the real one 😂 cant wait to run it tomo 😎
1:19 Can you tell me what model the front arms are from, and is there a link to them?
Andys Arms, there is a guy that prints them. James hodgson, you should find him on facebook, let me know if you need help finding him 👍
Interesting to see and hear about that diff on high grip surfaces
Yeah, got a light oil so it turn in, but would be good to run a heavyer oil to see how it effects the car 🤔
Where could I find the assembly instructions for the gear differential upgrades? My JJ wheels aren't turning when I put it on the floor🥲
Have you checked the diff works out of the car ?

The Team Associated B3 body looks cool on the 60th jj Ultima
Yeah, seen one with it fitted. Looked 👌

Hi not sure on premounted, you would need to look at the offsets of whats out there. I just stick to jc racing wheels and glue up my tire of choice 👍
Can you please post a link for the wheels.... I can't see them on the jc racing website. Shame no one makes a 12mm conversion
Found them, lol... countnt see the second page on my phone
Good video mate

Yeah, the one james lent me lasted the rest of the day 🤔 hopefully when we head back onto the grass the ball diff will be happy 🤞
I'm waiting for RW Racing to cut a delrin gear, rather than using a 3d printed one.
Are we going to see a running video? Or you gave up on the JJ Ultima?
She’s out this weekend, i only run everyother weekend, got a few things to try out on her 👍

Link for the Lipo battery setup ?
Its from lightning components, there on facebook or ebay UK. If your struggling to find them let me know 👍
What turn is your motor
10.5 on blinky, needs carefull set up of the slipper 👍

I would still run a slipper clutch even with a gear diff.
Need to esp when we head back on the grass track 😎
Sorry it gave you a bit of trouble this go around. hope things go smoother next time
Im sure they will, cant see the gear failing, its metal 😁 but if it does ive done something wrong 😂
Vous me faites rire à mettre des Brushless sur des vintages. Bien loin de l’esprit des vintages, et marrant de voir la prise de tête sur les options 🤪
