Am a huge Tamiya RC fan. Amazing videography and narration. Sat through the entire video. Very educational, learned a few new things here. Greetings from your neighbour in Malaysia 😊
Amazing story of how you chanced upon Mr Tamiya right at the lobby! I too made my pilgrimage to Shizuoka in 2019 to relive my childhood memories. You did a comprehensive and beautiful video to capture the experience for so many of us. Thanks.
Thanks for positing this interesting visit to Tamiya. I haven't built any of their kits yet but have the USS Enterprise waiting for me to start. I would love Tamiya to start producing civil aircraft models in both 1/144th and 1/200th scale. There would be so many unique kits and many livery options.
Tamiya is undoubtedly the number one plastic model manufacturer in the world. Easier to make, parts fit like Lego blocks, easy to follow, and see manual, detailed yet not cluttered parts, so many varieties, and the best box art in my opinion. ( Takom, Dragon, Trumpeter, Border have too many unnecessary parts and they don't always fit well) I love Tamiya and many people would feel same way.
To coincide with the Shizuoka Hobby Show this year, at the show & at Tamiya HQ’s open house, there were additional special sections showing more of the molds & equipment used to produce the plastic parts. There are cool TH-cam videos on this.
It would be interesting to find out exactly where Tamiya sourced the example 'Golden Age' RC offroad buggies (e.g. 1981-to 1986) for the display case because they are certainly not box-art 'shelf queen' display samples of the kind found at the trade shows and/or in model shops and Tamiya catalogues of the time. As you correctly point out, many of the models (Sand Scorcher/Brat and Willy's Wheeler have non box-art paint jobs and frankly the Willy's Wheeler's finish looks rather shabby and many of the cars show signs of wear and tear and look like they've seen actual use judging by the tires treads. What's more, the Hotshot doesn't have the standard silver can Mabuchi RS540 from the kit but one of the modified motors (Technipower perhaps?). Instead of vintage display models, they look like donations from fans, which is rather surprising given Tamiya's resources (surely they could have easily found pristine, pro-painted out-of-the-box samples for exhibiting such a historic phase in its RC car development!
Not sure but my guess is it’s probably mostly in-house. The hardcore collectors would be honoured to loan their collections and these would be in pristine condition. 😝
Second to none Tamiyas the best you can get, the company has everything I have just one wish though, and that is, with the R/C modals they would change the screws from phillips to hex head
I wish that Mr Tamiya would do Camper vans in Uk where i am from or in USA Rv,s , there is more money to be made from them because i do not know any one is doing them
We took a taxi from the train station. Although the taxi driver may only speak Japanese, we showed the Japanese address on Google Maps using our cellphone. It cost approximately JP¥1700 for a 10 minute ride. 😊
Для таких моделей 1/35/25/72 для хранения дома нужна большая площадь, а Япония по площади очень маленькая страна. 😢😢😢😢😢😢😢😢 Поэтому модели в масштабе 1/43 и 1/87 НО ей больше подошли. 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
Hahaha… Apologies. Unfortunately that’s the way I sound in real life. Apart from going to speech lessons which I’m not too keen on, this is only my third voice over video so it’s also a learning process how to record & edit. Will need to do better next time round. For now crank up the volume. 😂😂😂. Thank you for the constructive criticism.
Heya! Warms the heart to know ppl enjoy the build vids. I just started a new 9 to 5 job, that’s why I haven’t posted build videos lately. I have a few builds that I would like to do & hope to do them soon. 😀
Thank you for the tour. I missed my chance to visit it myself I was in Japan late January 2024. Was able to visit only their store in Minato City. For sure will visit there one day. Wonderful video.
Thank you so much for your effort and the great video that takes us along. And meeting Mr. Tamiya himself certainly makes this visit a 11 out of 10 experience!
Takes me back to my childhood, i had a Ford Ranger. I used to go to Birmingham UK to visit Beaties. I bet you had a blast visiting the meca for Tamiya?
After wanting to make the pilgrimage for so long, it was certainly worthwhile. And bumping into Mr. Tamiya was the icing on the cake. Glad I could take you back to happy memories. 😊
@@t-studioworksI'm sure it will! It's such a comprehensive tour, I've never seen one like it. It's a great service you've provided to the Tamiya community. Thank you! P.s I've shared it all over Facebook Tamiya groups 😅👌

Well, I hope Tamiya are reading because that would be a good idea. I wouldn’t mind seeing some classic turbo props. 😊
Thanks for sharing. I really loved this tour as I will never be able to visit myself. Much appreciated
Great video! Amazing tour and it's a dream to visit Tamiya as well.

Aye! Aye! Completely agree with that.
Nicely done!
Super vidéo 👍, bravo 👏
Great having a look around would be better if there was a look around product line and how they are made.

There is a Tamiya factory 1 hour away from where i live, in LapuLapu City, Cebu ,that factory has been there since the 90s
Amazing thanks

great video , i had thought Mr tamiya had passed away iguess not !!
Mr. Tamiya’s successor, his son-in-law Mr. Masayuki Tamiya passed away in 2017. May he rest in peace.
Glad you enjoyed the video.
My Filipino -Japanese cousin ask me if i go to Japan, what place i wanted to go, i said Shizuoka, The home of my favorite model kit, Tamiya
Good on ya. Hope you get to go. 🙂

Probably it won’t be done for classic rereleases but kits like new BBX have them. 😊
@@t-studioworks Yah your right, sure is easier though.
hi,im from philippines and im a tamiya employee..im from planning divsion we make 3d models of military miniatures...nice video by the way.
Awesome! Thank you for making the models that we love. Keep up the good work. 💪🏻😊
@paolofromtokyo could you also do a video of a day in the life of a Tamiya Scale Models Employee/hobby shop owner?
😂… that could be exciting, could mean working for Tamiya or owning a hobby shop to experience it first hand as part of the research.
I'm wondering how much you bought this time! Great video btw!
🏎wow

It would probably end up Japanese ‘cute’ and it would be fun to hotrod it with a low turn brushless motor. I’m in!
Espetacular! Sou colecionador de plastimodelismo 1/72. Saudações do Brasil 💚💛
Glad you enjoyed the video! Ayrton Senna from Brazil is my hero. ❤️❤️❤️
thanks for video , can you suggest me how arrive ad headquarter from station ? Bus Number or Taxi or else

Love Tamiya, 99% of my model stash is Tamiya kits. Will visit there one day.

Excellent tour of the factory, your knowledge of Tamiyas history is astonishing. Great video!! 👌👏💝
Thank you. Hopefully the facts are all correct and this becomes another resource like other great websites & videos out there on Tamiya.
