I don't think that the song shows insensitivity to this tragic event. For me it's quite the opposite. Talking about a girl that his surroundings never noticed his psychological/mental status, and judged as an adult. Only 16 y.o. and got a life in prison..
Re: A-side / B-side In the days before digital, music was released on physical, vinyl discs that had two sides. You could play the vinyl discs on a playing device (Pick Up), which had a needle with a diamond 'reader' that was lowered onto the disc to read the information stored in the vinyl discs' grooves. Vinyl discs were always two sided because even a Long Player disc would only hold about 30 minutes of music on one side. Single vinyl discs were much smaller though, only enough room for one song on each side, the A-side and B-side.
“Although the band broke up in 1986, that didn’t stop the song being released in 1979”. No, I guess it wouldn’t since the broke up seven years after it was released. This AI voiceover isn’t Artificial Intelligence, it’s Actual Idiocy.
School shootings is common in countries without strict gun law. It's a matter of culture and government. It is very rare on countries where guns are are tabooed and only handled by law enforcement, securities and thoroughly licensed individuals. This song did more good opening the eyes of people worldwide on how much bad gun can create if unstable minds come in possession of it. Also it is enjoyed by millions of people in Live-Aid a monumental world concert/s created to help the struggling nations of the world, something most songs today will never be able to achieve!
A reporter said “tell me why”. Brenda Ann Spencer replied” I don’t like Mondays.” Maybe her parents should have called have worried more about her problems.
Great song and sadly the video states it about one of America's most tragic school shootings and in 2024 it is has been overshadowed by MANY other instances. Home of the brave
'Peter Briqette'😂😂😂 his name is Pete Briqette, peat briqettes being a form of peat (better known as 'turf' in Ireland) being a fuel for heat popular in Ireland. While most of your information is correct, they performed the song a lot of times since Live aid❤ th-cam.com/video/qfH1Z0rkzCY/w-d-xo.htmlsi=QhHX870t9PtBDmVj
Read up on Brenda. Her life has been hell because of her family and mental health problems they caused. Having depression issues myself and having bothered to read about her, I think I understand.
It should be meant that it is an anti terror song. Nobody likes days like that one at which such terrible things happened It should be a warning to like all days, because the are all made by the lord Jesus, so that it may prevent such terrible things.
Great song. Geldof originally wrote this as a reggae song but it was dramatically changed shortly there after
Fantastic song 🎵
1979...good old days when school shootings shocked us. Sadly, it's become way too common. Love the song. It happened one day before my 17th birthday.😢
I never thought it was insensitive. It summed up the situation with pathos and accuracy.

This, couldn’t agree more. People are more afraid of a song than the guns that should be banned.
The story is not hidden. It is right in the lyrics.

Home of the brave
It was because of the silicone chip inside her head. It got switched to overload they say.
People never watched VH1s “I love the 80s” and it shows
& then the bullhorn crackles & the captain tackles with the questions of the how's & whys?, WE ALL HATE MONDAYS?, love Friday's.
Um what? Everyone knows what the song is about. It's not a secret.
Actually, a lot of people don't
It never was.
Not true. I found this out today.
Who the Hell is Midge Ure-y? :D
Soft cell

He was in a band called ultravox
@@patrickshollywoodtv481
if you remove the "Y" - then yes
Slik, Ultravox, Thin Lizzy, Visage, Rich Kids... Nothing much really.
At least something good came out of all the bad the person did!
You state the last time they performed the song was at Live Aid in 1985.. so what's this? th-cam.com/video/qfH1Z0rkzCY/w-d-xo.htmlsi=QhHX870t9PtBDmVj

"Rat Trap" is a far better song. So is "Mary of the 4th Form" and "Do The Rat". To mention just a few.
i like the song ...but not what it represents or Brenda spencer

It's not a secret
Hardly a secret the lyrics pretty much say it’s a highschool shooting …. “And the lessen today is how to die”
I don’t believe that many people know it was a real shooting.
Cleveland Elementary school shooting. San Diego.
NOT American history!
Thought it was the usa national anthem
