Love This Video...Straight and to the point! Perfect for students of all ages. Showed it to my Kindergarten students during Women's History Month while learning about Bessie Coleman. I ties it into SEL, so that students can draw inspiration from her life and remember to never give up!
I'm embarrassed to say this, I didn't know anything about her until.. when I saw it on Steve show by accident..I didn't realize we had a black female pilot because back then you didn't hear that much about the other famous black people like we always hear, like MLk Jr., Malcolm X, Rosie Park and etc. the big names... it's a shame we don't hear about the others..I'm glad I look her up and realize what she did and done..She really an unsung and lot of people need to know about it and others that didn't get the recognition they deserved..It's a Shame..
Not only have I heard of her, I've been working on a screenplay which is about 3/4 complete. I had a lot of research to do. Trying to convince Janeshia from Black Panther and the Avengers to get involved. She is a stuntwoman but doesn't want to actually do aerial work (I think as long as the plane as on the ground she could do the actual stunts). She's the perfect age.
Thanks Biography… I do think this would have been better if you had a black woman, maybe a black woman pilot, actually present the Bessie Coleman bio. Good job tho
You cannot force people to acknowledge that...When black folks are going through things, we never get Indian support. When black men killed in the streets, where are they? We have marched and fought hard against.....not hiding,.....they got casinos.....so she's black. She's not in YOUR history books...I found her under BLACK history.....don't blame black the blackness.
Yes,Im Bessie Coleman, My Name Is Christele Augustin, That's How It Goes For Black Female, In Black History Month, That's What Happen, And Guess What I Still Look The Same, Thanks

Did I hear 👂correctly? She's the first American of any race or Gender to receive a pilot license. You Go Girl!!!!
Bessie Coleman is my heroine and inspiration.

Please remember in your script that she was also Native American!
She's black.....and was treated as such.

I strictly subscribed to this page because of this true American history being told truthfully
Bessie Coleman is from Atlanta just like me 🙈
Why haven't there been a movie about this woman,?

Biography that skips over her dying in a crash?
Exactly. Though her story was heroic, it ended in tragedy.
Can you enable captioning? Deaf people could benefit from this video too.
Wow
He was not the first American to earn a pilot's license
Thanks Biography… I do think this would have been better if you had a black woman, maybe a black woman pilot, actually present the Bessie Coleman bio. Good job tho
bessie coleman
Not fun
she was a light woman of mixed race not black.
She's dark but still light. There was one woman who was "black" who actually looked like she was very light. People can be so confusing. . . .
Bessie Coleman identified herself as Black and Indigenous
Her father was part Indigenous, perhaps his through his grandparents
Um, Bessie was also Native American! How about we remember ALL of her instead of just what we want to remember!

You dishonor her achievement by getting the facts wrong!
Yeah ive heard of Bessie Coleman. You assume uve never heard of her, how presumptuous and bigoted!
Amelia Earhart dont deserve what she got
Excuse me, but we are here to learn, not to tear others down, thank you!
