Eventhough I live in Ohio, I've never cared for snow and cold, but I just wanted something to make me smile and chose Jingle Jangle in July. Loved that movie!

A darker skinned black girl would have been a real dream. Can we stop with the casting of little light skinned girls to play leads? I mean c’mon. I’ll still be watching however.

I tell my kid why representation is important, people are realizing this and doing better but I feel so embarrassed telling her this because it seems to be a "half truth" excuse the pun. We make the effort to see series/ movies where the lead is black and EVERY time they are not black girls with her skin tone , complection or hair type. It's always "blackish "types. It is never even any thing close to what we see in our community. I love all these girls and they are talented but come on Hollywood! Zendaya, Yara,Amandla Stenberg, Tamara Smart, Arica Himmel, Mykal- Michelle, Navia Robinson, Storm Reid is not the only kind of black girl. I started digging up old keke palmer movies because even the one movie where Marsai is a lead, she is acting like a grown woman in a child's body. I am not trying to have my child behaving that way. This whole half black and other vibe is tired. We are not stupid. We support these girls but want castings to be better.

WE ARE ALL BLACK👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾I under dark skin girls are underrepresented that does not mean light skin girls shouldn’t be leads

@Jennifer Jamison shut up no matter if she is mixed or not she is still part black and she does not deserve to be treated like she is not and she was amazing in the movie no matter her shade. Idiot

As a dark-skinned black girl, I have to agree! I loved the film and will continue to watch it with my friends and family, but it’s very true that there is more than one type of black girl, and I would love for my future daughters to also have that representation.

She is correct that black families need to also be in mythical and fantasy films.
    Just one issue though.
Create your own stories, and characters, and stop race swapping out white characters for black characters.
Its lazy writing for one thing and also VERY DISRESPECTFUL to the original artist who wrote it, and to the black artist playing it, as it says
"We do not believe you can sell this movie if your an original black character, so if we race swap you for a popular character then we can guarantee some some fans will stay, and those that dont we can call racist"
Its shameful by the film studios, because quite frankly if you create an original story with black and white characters, as an original source then no one can complain, and people like Anika Noni can get real good parts and really show of her God given voice.
Asian companies promote their own people with original stories.
And Jordan Peel is doing it now with the black community too.
More is needed from all cultures to have their Own Films based on their own heritage and stories, and mix it with fantasy and you will have a rich and glorious tapestry of films and music to watch and listen too.
Rather than the same old generic, rehashed films, that are just colour swapped or gender swapped for point ticking and not because you want a film to be any good.
The artists all deserve better, and so does the paying customer 😊
