For me the club died when John Terry retired and Diego Costa went back to Atletico Madrid. Once that happened it was Hazard FC for 2 years then he left, then the transfer ban happened, Lampard got hired from Derby County and the Chelsea I grew up supporting that was seen as the standard in English football was gone. It was then only about top four, an occasional cup final that we would always loose and nothing else. Yes Tuchel won a Champions League but that was not in the plans, it was something that just happened. What's happening now is a combination of terrible decisions made by the current owners while still not fixing the problems that Marina and Co. Left behind when Roman stopped caring about Chelsea which was around 2018.
