We wear shoes with thick soles which insulate us from the earth. There's a reason why expressions such as 'down to earth' & 'grounded' are used to describe some people. Static builds up in our bodies & can be felt as a tingle on touching a door handle. Walking bare foot, connecting with mother earth, is a subtle way to be at one with the world.

I also started meditating and yoga along side of a natural plant diet. I quit smoking tobacco and drinking alcohol. I feel alot better. Breaking these addictions was hard, but I've never felt better. I think they all play apart.

There are many scientific researches, especially medical and psychological ones, that shows the many benefits of walking bare footed. The term is called ''Grounding''.

For the people who are confused, He is talking about walking barefoot on a place which is in direct contact with mother earth ex - Garden, Farm, feild or if you have any in your home which is in direct contact you can walk upon it. Avoid walking on man made floors like concrete or wood.
    (Sorry for my bad English)

Look into grounding, or read the book, Earthing by Clint Ober. There is a lot of science now backing this belief. It’s about connecting to the Earth’s EMF (Electro Magnetic Field). In addition to being spiritual beings, we are also physical ones that are electrical as well. The increase of domesticating ourselves and becoming civilized beings has removed our daily activities of direct connection with the earth. It is so much more than the big ball we live on. Life changing to look into further.

I'm one who walks and jumps barefoot during my jogging routine on rough grounds in the morning because I know its benefits. Those who see me doing so might have a feeling that this guy being unfashionable jogging without canvas shoes on which is the stupidest thing to do. Canvas gives extra weight and strains to the muscles which is unadvisable.
