Just a note, I've found that the "big V" is helpful on wings that don't have split A's. It has the effect of pulling the middle A's first and inflating from the center to the wing tips.
Pro tip at 5:15. This weekend I launched on my Fly Products Flash Cruiser on a tandem flight. I had to take off down a grass runway which was not lined up in to the wind. I followed Travis’s tip by moving the glider to face the wind. End result... perfect inflation and perfect take off.
I’m not a pro, not an instructor, totally self / friend & You Tube university taught! Great video & I’m not challenging anything. Building up to an HONEST question: What I have learned is by letting your trimmers out, you “flatten out” your wing & are able to fly faster / less resistance because of the angle of attack of the wing. Pull the risers in, you pull the back of the wing down, this makes the wing slower / more resistance. It also makes the wing more stable because of the increased pressure. If you are giving it throttle, you will climb faster. And I was taught to launch & land trimmers almost all the way in……….. unless you are flying in high wind (not advisable in the first place). Sooooooo, here is the question: What is the advantage of landing trimmers out?
Kyle from OUA here. Yes, there are advantages landing trimmers out. This helps with landing speed, the speed is slightly faster however you have more control due to your speed which increases the pressure inside of the glider therefore allowing you to have more flare authority and making landings more fun and in general for us, better. :) You can have your trimmers all the way in however we have found it is better to have your trims out when you are comfortable. Cheers, Kyle
I’ve been @ You Tube University hard core, STUDYING landing ever since you told me this. I do see, almost 100%, all the PPG pilots who you can just tell have mad skills ARE coming in hot……. Often times even still powering into landing, landing trimmed out with that full flare authority……. And the PPG pilots with less skill are landing trimmed in, as I was advised to do……….. and I think that does make more sense for new pilots……… it’s pretty damn exciting learning to land!!! I am going to start landing w more & more trimmers out. Thanks for the info!
Thank you, Sir. Whether its just for refreshing some lessons or learning something new. It was a pleasure to watch the video. Small feedback: Put a launch at the end as reward for those watching till the end, hehe :-) Greetings from a fellow Pilot & YTer.
Thank heavens for the TH-cam algorithm! I never would have found you Travis if it wasn't for all of your fans and fellow youtubers. (I'm sure WoodysGamertag and Kyle O'Glee have something to do with it) Glad to see you are still around, nice.
Hi travis nice video well narrated stupid simple I am a novice trike poilet found your video enjoyable My instructor told me he found it helpful if standing at middle back he pulled 5’ of trailing edge tuckedunder the leading edge kind regards Sean from the Burren west of Ireland
HI Sean! Thanks for the feedback. There are lot's of different techniques, I could envision this being especially helpful with a non-clutched engine to prevent the trailing edge from being flipped up while at idle thrust. We'll give it a try sometime!
Is there a way to lay out the wing that immediately melts all the snow and raises the temp about 50 degrees? Thanks for the tips Travis - pwiceless info. :)
Bad shoulder here. How can I launch without using As it yanks my bad shoulder something fierce. Got the bursitis and it lens long term pita There’s a technique but can’t find it? Thank you.
Travis and Kyle, I like all the little attention to detail. Thanks for making this video.

Thank you for still producing additional content in your busy schedules. Appreciated.
good info guys, thanks. Can't wait to feel out some chawactewistic's of new wings.
Love the way you teach, Travis! I’d send my own children to you if they were interested in learning to fly.

Always great information. It seems to be a chawactewistic of all your videos.
Thanks for this information, very helpful!
Wow I can watch my classes on video all over again! Love it, this is Bob by the way! LOL

Good feedback, we should have had a launch in there!
You spoke out of my heart! Some are thinking too difficult... thanks for that information and always happy landings!

Thanks for the kind comments!
Thanks for the great tips, much appreciated!!!
Travis and Kyle, great video. The detail is good to review even if you have been flying a long time. Thanks.
Thanks Tom!

Excellent video !
Good job guys. No one is safe if Kyle is editing a video. 😂

LOL. Pwiceless Dave. haha
Wow. Three months of videos. Where have I been. I know he had a soft leave from aviator...but when was the decision to go out as a new company?
Great stuff !!
I m not flying yet bot I like your vidios
I'm sad you left out the part where you bite the trimmers at 8:59. Nothing like a coast guard pilot with a mouthful of riser.
Better than a mouthful of crayons, lol!
touche
Size parachute (length) please sir

The only way to launch without holding the A's is trike launch with an A-assist system. :)
Subscriber 455 here! 😆👍
sarah , thank you!
That’s not tips and tricks that’s just basic training 😂
