Its not just just the organisation. It is also the mentality of crowds. Mixture of both and tragedies happen. So many examples at football stadium's. It's not just the operating team but the crowd mentality aswell. Best theme park channel, by a long shot. ❤
Absolutely - poor preparation and operations but some people attending need to use their brains and show some respect and consideration. It’s a rollercoaster, not a life-or-death situation. People’s lack of consideration for each other rips my knitting! But definitely, the park could’ve done so much better. Voltron looks fabulous!
It should not have happened as it did. It was planned to let all people get to the Q-Line right from the beginning. But Voltron had an issue the day before (a train with another wheel configuration was tested and valleyed). So the operators didn't know when to open the ride on that day and didn't let go anybody to the line before it was clear that voltron will open. I have been there and all of the secruity told everybody to not wait there and go somewhere else. It was not planned by the park to handle it that way. Even Lukas Metzger got there in person to tell that to the guests.
Considering incidents we’ve seen in the past, not at theme parks but when there have been big crowds involved and people have literally died, you would like to think that they would have been prepared. Looking at that footage as you walked in made me feel really uneasy. I hope Charlotte is okay! I also hope Europa Park and other parks learn from this to ensure this doesn’t happen again. Regardless, I hope you enjoy the rest of the trip!
@@davidnm21 that was in Duisburg and this was very differnt to the Situation in the EP. In the Europa Park you can go all time beside to and other Themeland, the big Problem is that everyone would go streigh to Voltron. I'm sorry, but the Problem was not only by the Park .

Thank you so much for your detailed, in depth footage and honest thoughts! Croatia looks amazing as well as the theming all throughout the queue! Glad you both made it through opening day ok! I can understand the initial disappointment you felt. I have been going to Europa for years and love everything about the park. I only once had a bad incident where someone was hurt, not badly fortunately, but staff kind of just looked away. That also really bummed me out since I love the park so much and from everything I experienced I just expected something else. I really hope that people look at this and learn from it. But I feel like usually Europa Park is very good about checking all that went wrong though and improving what they can, so fingers crossed they will do so in the future as well. Looking forward to your next vlogs and further impressions from your Europa Park Trip!
@@racheljackson4428you'd hope so, it's a very competent park I'd say it's got the best operations in the world but next time they open an attraction they really need to think about crowd control.
Pretty sure they will. I'm still amazed that they didn't think of an early queing principle to avoid running (like catching all people immediately in a temporary narrow queue for Voltron in the German area right after the entrance before any funnel situations can build up, then leading this queue all towards the overflow area at Traumatica, possibly through a still closed France section. As soon as the crowds are in Traumatica, you can move the temporary entrance slowly back to Croatia during the day. Other parks do it that way as well. My guess is, they just underestimated how many people would show up on a Friday)
@@ThemeParkWorldwide even if it was badly organised, people need to have more cop on than to run along with a crowd like that or even leave the situation if there are genuine safety concerns. Glad it all worked out in the end though, the ride looks amazing!

Talking of theme park review from yesterday I actually used to be a fan of theme park review as a teenager but I actually much prefer the TH-cam channel theme park worldwide. I’m hoping your TH-cam channel eventually gets to 1 million subscribers like theme park review has because I am a big fan of your channel. The more subscribers you get the better your channel will get ❤
I was saying to Sean Evans, I’ve really been looking forward to seeing this open more than any other. Europa park have a good line up but nothing stand out, nothing really you can’t experience better anywhere else but I think that has now definitely changed, they’re giving Phantasialand a run for their money when it comes to unique & impressive coasters
Terrible operations for opening day, some people could have been hurt, but the coaster looks amazing! Hope you guys had fun and it’s a great addition go the park. 👍

So excited you got to film your debut ride on Voltron! What a unique coaster! The layout was so unique with all the elements and the launches. That vertical launch was wild! The bouncing was certainly unqiue lol the theming was incredible! It really created a great atmosphere. Hopefully your next rides are better!
Wow, that was some extremely poor organisation for an opening day - looked absolutely awful and to seriously have only one member of staff directing the humongous crowds is absolutely shocking. Everyone who visits a theme park should have the right to feel safe and comfortable as safety should always be the number one priority at any theme park around the world and it’s such a shame that Europa Park - a world class theme park, failed to protect their guests. This could have resulted in serious injury especially for those using wheelchairs so I’m so glad your both ok. You’re so thoughtful and considerate for looking after Charlotte and making sure she was alright. However, the negatives aside, the ride is absolutely phenomenal and Mack have done an absolutely incredible job, the theming is top notch and the area looks fantastic! Glad you had a great time :D
We were there as well today and I think something went really wrong at that moment. That one staff member is the Head of park operations at Europa Park. But gladly the whole situation really improved throughout the day.
Getting a live reaction to the coaster was excellent! - First launch of Voltron, a coaster we've been excited about for years, what was Shawn going to say? Something poetic? Something that stands the test of time? Something that will go down in history.... ...no - It was "Oh, well that was weird" hhahahahah! Excellent!
And this is exactly why I like Disney's new way of opening rides. Virtual Queue is the way to do openings. No big crush. I know it means some people don't get to ride but it makes it so much safer and so much better. Plus it frees up the day to do other things
And that rush is why i dont like opening days. Ive heard of people being crushed, trampled and badly injured on opening days. I hate it. Ive experienced one before but not for a theme park. And the crush was so bad! But the ride looks epic!

the reason why you stop in the middle of the ride is because you teleforted via electricity to the 2nd tower and thats why you stopped and then the 2nd half is that you travel back

im sure they will. if its like nemesis reborns one they would probably just open the rides queue instantly i think, both being merlin so it should be similar
Hopefully they keep everyone outside the security bit and open that at 10pm on the dot and then it will take time for people to filter through and it won't be any holds within the park and people get to the ride when they get to it.
I honestly think opening day reviews / rides are not the way to go , it’s better after at least a little while to iron out issues before a truly accurate review .
And this guys is why you are prob one of the most popular bloggers and why I follow you the most you could just say everything is great but you’re so honest it really is great feedback and hope the next ride you have is a lot more enjoyable

Hi Shawn was nice to bump into you today! Me and my brother managed to ride it 8 times after our 1st ride with you I agreed, but it really depends on train and seat on the ride. Row 2 and 3 avoid the outer seats. Back and front row you are safe to sit anywhere. Best seat is the back right follwed by front left! Hope you have a better day tomorrow its my new NO.1 😮
I don't know why but I feel the fact it's a new favorite of many people depends on the hype. Because, apart for the lenght and maybe some positive Gs, I don't see how it could beat what are considered to be Europe's best coasters. Really I'm curious. No hate, but I feel that before saying that's better than zadra or rth we should wait until hype goes down.
@@aridaje4345 Wait until you ride it 🤩 There was no hype the opening day was a shambles and after how badly organised the entry was people getting squashed and full on chaos the last thing I wanted to do was say it was my new No.1 coaster but after 8 rides trying different seats and trains can defo confirm its my new fav 😅 Best stall ive done Beyond vertical launch is great Airtime hill after the stall offers the strongest ejector airtime ive felt Overall theming package is great!
@@1minutethemeparks i don't say it's a bad coaster by any means. But for real, a stronger airtime than the rth top hat? Already forgot it? Is a single element on this ride better than the double inverting dive loop? Or the stall being better than zadra's? It's very very hard to believe for me. The hype was there, otherwise you shouldn't have been there in a so confusional day 😅
We have been there on Friday and Saturday and managed to ride Voltron for seven times on different trains and seat positions. You are right that the ride is shaky in some positions. I expected it to be smoother and was a bit disappointed by the shakiness on my first ride. Mack Rides have some other wheels in stock, and they tested one of them on 25th. But this train valleyed after the break run at the church tower. So, they had to disassemble the whole train and remove it via a large crane. It was brought back to the factory and reassemble it. This train was brought back to Europa-Park in 26th. We were able to spot the truck from the extended queue line. As we managed to get our first ride the doors on the turntable were already closed again - so maybe they brought in the additional train at the time of your ride. What is phenomenal in my opinion: they had some really bad issues on that day with a lot of rollbacks on the first launch and on the launch into the stall. But the whole coaster was able to recover from that situations within minutes without a need to close the ride. So, there is brilliant engineering to overcome these situations without the need to restart the whole thing. When it comes to the story, as you mentioned: Europa-Park has made a whole movie describing the concept of what is going on with that teleportation thing from the station to the turntable and back to the station. But you are right, if one is not aware of that it lacks to tell the story on ride. Regarding the Nikola Tesla animatronic in the center of the building, I have heard some rumors of possible things to come. They plan to have some AI thingies build into that animatronic so that it will react to the guests. It was built together with Weta Workshop and has more than 60 motors inside of it. But yes, I also was disappointed by that animatronic. It didn’t hype me in the way it was announced. The coolest thing about that pre-show was the “electric orchestra” on the ceiling. I didn’t expect this, and I have never seen something like this before. After all it is a solid ride in my opinion, but there is some room for improvement. And I expect Mack Rides to fix the problems and further improve it within the next months.
40:55: The story for the turntable is actually the story of the ride, teleporting from point A to B and back, on the little screens of the turn table you can see energy loading, supposedly the cosmic energy that brings you back to the station... It's a little rough but it does the job in my opinion

Sorry i haven't been watching many videos lately. I got back from florida and holiday blues knocked me straight into a bad depression. Best two weeks of my life though. Did all the parks including busch. IOA is the best park i've ever been to. Will always hold so much love for that park now after a few visits
I agree that parks don’t think about opening days properly. If they put a bit more thought into the whole event, they could make everything a lot more smooth and also make the guests feel more valued and like they’ve been to an exclusive event. They’d also be able to make a lot more money. Even with Nemesis, I think the park could have done security a bit better (at least in the galactica entrance) and they could have offered some exclusive merch or something like that.

The park created the crowd crushes with the various “holds” they created, and then just releasing those holds with no organization whatsoever. I’m honestly shocked nobody was seriously injured. They should have allowed people into the area and queue even if the ride wasn’t ready. Let them know that they could be waiting hours but they will wait in line.
After seeing this, I really have to say that I prefer it when a park doesn't give an opening date at all. Simply open the attraction out of the blue, so that the news spreads more slowly and you can't plan ahead as a guest. Then you definitely don't have such chaos in the park.

Unfortunately we've seen exactly situations with crowds like this that haven't ended well in the past, they need to hire more security and less social media managers recording the chaos from all angles. I stumbled across your channel last week while planning a Cedar Point trip… since then I have watched 50+ videos on both your channels. You and Charlotte have such a delightful personality and have motivated me to visit so many more parks🖤
b&ms are just generally rattley. with voltron the seats are more out to the side. Compared to your generic mack coaster with 2 seats above the track, that normally just means smoother ride, its like that on the smiler for instance
@@Casey-Jones1234Its to do with seating. Ill compare the smiler with it. (different manufacturers but same logic) the smiler on the outer seats it becomes really rattley which makes it very rough. On the inner seat its fairly smooth. But the smilers seats are closer and the same level. With voltron the seats are further apart and the outer seats are raised up slightly which is further from the track which in short will make it alot rougher and rattley. As charlotte said in the video she experienced barely any shakey moments whereas shawn did.
Because I was in a hotel and came to the park via Holland, I didn't notice any of the chaos in Italy. Fortunately, things were quite civilized in Holland and the atmosphere was great. Unfortunately, I had the same problems during the ride, I was sitting in the last row on the far left and after a while it was really uncomfortable due to the enormous vibration. It also gave me a headache. I had imagined my first ride to be a bit different, hopefully the next one will be better. 😅
What an absolute shambles! I felt so anxious just watching you guys in that crowd and knowing a crush was coming. Unbelievably dangerous and all for their social media videos. Hopefully nobody was hurt on the day and that they learn a big lesson from this mess. Much like the majority of others, we continued that way. If we didn’t then we would have ended up going a much longer way round. The area needed blocking off properly if they wanted everyone to go a different way!
This reminds me of my school transition to the next lesson but worse like i wish it was like alton towers where people start running then go to the side in a queue and in a holding area waiting to go into the queue like nemesis reborn and the curse at alton manor opening day would love to go to the opening day but after this vlog so glad i wasn’t there and charlotte telling people to stop pushing her sounded so horrible and shawn asking charlotte if she was ok was so adorable
Had a couple of rides two days ago. The layout is just incredible and I overall enjoyed the full experience. I must admit however that the rattle was quite rough. Pretty strong headache especially after the second ride. I hope they fix these "rougher" trains asap to let everyone enjoy the smoothest ride possible. But anyway, so happy to have tried it.

Thank you to show us once again a chaotic opening day of a major ride. Many years ago I did the same thing with the opening of Blue fire and it was horrible. So I decided to go to Hansa park, Heide park and Phantasialand instead. I had amazing quiet days. Black Mamba, Karnan or Fluch der Demonen might not be Voltron, but they're still an amazing rides. But thank you for showing us this. It brings back memories. Dangerous to be there and a very poor organized.

OMG that was manic 😮!! Although your initial reaction wasn’t the greatest, watching from the comfort of my sofa, it looks like an amazing ride!! I’d be sure to sit in the middle though 😂 Great vlog 👍🏻
It looks spectacular, but the rattle is interesting. It seems that if you cantilever off the sides of the track you will get vibrations, there is simply no way to avoid it regardless of how new or fancy the ride is (i.e.wing coasters and Eurofighters).
Thank you for your honest review. Sadly, the majority of German TH-camrs who were there did not mention the chaos at all. We were next to you at Italy ( my wife even had a lovely chat with you) and when the rope dropped, we were immediately pushed against the poor staff member who had been tasked with removing the rope. Later we were one of those sent away from the Greece area only to notice 10 min later that they had opened the gates to Croatia. We were waiting outside the park since 6 o'clock in the morning..... Anyway, thanks for your videos and we hope your next days will be a little more peaceful und relaxed :)
Very disappointing to see no crowd management in place. Glad nobody was seriously hurt but it’s not acceptable. Europa need to up their game - health and safety is always the top priority! Thanks for your initial review, surprised how lukewarm it is but thanks for being honest! Not good to hear about the rattling. From an engineering perspective these trains that have occupants seated outside the track rails are fundamentally flawed - any high intensity coasters should stick to 2-wide seating to avoid this issue, in my opinion. The fact the on opening day there was one staff member but when I am at work at Alton towers and galactica is going to open late we have the whole station staff and service staff out to let people know it shows the difference
I understand your complaint. But on the other hand not why you pushing in the mass when you scared something happens? But yes the opening proedure every day is dificult

They really need to look at better crowd control moving forwards. It was very dangerous!
The Berlin Love Parade incident from a few years ago comes to mind. Many deaths and serious injuries.

Pretty sure they will. I'm still amazed that they didn't think of an early queing principle to avoid running (like catching all people immediately in a temporary narrow queue for Voltron in the German area right after the entrance before any funnel situations can build up, then leading this queue all towards the overflow area at Traumatica, possibly through a still closed France section. As soon as the crowds are in Traumatica, you can move the temporary entrance slowly back to Croatia during the day. Other parks do it that way as well. My guess is, they just underestimated how many people would show up on a Friday)

Europa park have a good line up but nothing stand out, nothing really you can’t experience better anywhere else but I think that has now definitely changed, they’re giving Phantasialand a run for their money when it comes to unique & impressive coasters

So excited you got to film your debut ride on Voltron! What a unique coaster! The layout was so unique with all the elements and the launches. That vertical launch was wild! The bouncing was certainly unqiue lol the theming was incredible! It really created a great atmosphere. Hopefully your next rides are better!

Wow, that was some extremely poor organisation for an opening day - looked absolutely awful and to seriously have only one member of staff directing the humongous crowds is absolutely shocking. Everyone who visits a theme park should have the right to feel safe and comfortable as safety should always be the number one priority at any theme park around the world and it’s such a shame that Europa Park - a world class theme park, failed to protect their guests. This could have resulted in serious injury especially for those using wheelchairs so I’m so glad your both ok. You’re so thoughtful and considerate for looking after Charlotte and making sure she was alright. However, the negatives aside, the ride is absolutely phenomenal and Mack have done an absolutely incredible job, the theming is top notch and the area looks fantastic! Glad you had a great time :D

the reason why you stop in the middle of the ride is because you teleforted via electricity to the 2nd tower and thats why you stopped and then the 2nd half is that you travel back

Me and my brother managed to ride it 8 times after our 1st ride with you I agreed, but it really depends on train and seat on the ride.
Row 2 and 3 avoid the outer seats. Back and front row you are safe to sit anywhere. Best seat is the back right follwed by front left!

I don't know why but I feel the fact it's a new favorite of many people depends on the hype. Because, apart for the lenght and maybe some positive Gs, I don't see how it could beat what are considered to be Europe's best coasters. Really I'm curious. No hate, but I feel that before saying that's better than zadra or rth we should wait until hype goes down.

We have been there on Friday and Saturday and managed to ride Voltron for seven times on different trains and seat positions. You are right that the ride is shaky in some positions. I expected it to be smoother and was a bit disappointed by the shakiness on my first ride.
Mack Rides have some other wheels in stock, and they tested one of them on 25th. But this train valleyed after the break run at the church tower. So, they had to disassemble the whole train and remove it via a large crane. It was brought back to the factory and reassemble it. This train was brought back to Europa-Park in 26th. We were able to spot the truck from the extended queue line.
As we managed to get our first ride the doors on the turntable were already closed again - so maybe they brought in the additional train at the time of your ride.
What is phenomenal in my opinion: they had some really bad issues on that day with a lot of rollbacks on the first launch and on the launch into the stall. But the whole coaster was able to recover from that situations within minutes without a need to close the ride. So, there is brilliant engineering to overcome these situations without the need to restart the whole thing.
When it comes to the story, as you mentioned: Europa-Park has made a whole movie describing the concept of what is going on with that teleportation thing from the station to the turntable and back to the station. But you are right, if one is not aware of that it lacks to tell the story on ride.
Regarding the Nikola Tesla animatronic in the center of the building, I have heard some rumors of possible things to come. They plan to have some AI thingies build into that animatronic so that it will react to the guests. It was built together with Weta Workshop and has more than 60 motors inside of it. But yes, I also was disappointed by that animatronic. It didn’t hype me in the way it was announced.
The coolest thing about that pre-show was the “electric orchestra” on the ceiling. I didn’t expect this, and I have never seen something like this before.
After all it is a solid ride in my opinion, but there is some room for improvement. And I expect Mack Rides to fix the problems and further improve it within the next months.

40:55: The story for the turntable is actually the story of the ride, teleporting from point A to B and back, on the little screens of the turn table you can see energy loading, supposedly the cosmic energy that brings you back to the station... It's a little rough but it does the job in my opinion

Sorry i haven't been watching many videos lately. I got back from florida and holiday blues knocked me straight into a bad depression. Best two weeks of my life though. Did all the parks including busch. IOA is the best park i've ever been to. Will always hold so much love for that park now after a few visits
I agree that parks don’t think about opening days properly. If they put a bit more thought into the whole event, they could make everything a lot more smooth and also make the guests feel more valued and like they’ve been to an exclusive event. They’d also be able to make a lot more money. Even with Nemesis, I think the park could have done security a bit better (at least in the galactica entrance) and they could have offered some exclusive merch or something like that.

The park created the crowd crushes with the various “holds” they created, and then just releasing those holds with no organization whatsoever. I’m honestly shocked nobody was seriously injured. They should have allowed people into the area and queue even if the ride wasn’t ready. Let them know that they could be waiting hours but they will wait in line.

After seeing this, I really have to say that I prefer it when a park doesn't give an opening date at all. Simply open the attraction out of the blue, so that the news spreads more slowly and you can't plan ahead as a guest. Then you definitely don't have such chaos in the park.
Absolutely shocking opening, has put me off visiting the park completely. Unfortunately we've seen exactly situations with crowds like this that haven't ended well in the past, they need to hire more security and less social media managers recording the chaos from all angles.

What is it with nemesis and voltron with the vibration and roughness
b&ms are just generally rattley. with voltron the seats are more out to the side. Compared to your generic mack coaster with 2 seats above the track, that normally just means smoother ride, its like that on the smiler for instance
Yea but nemesis has a rattle I know the completely different company’s but
@@Casey-Jones1234Its to do with seating. Ill compare the smiler with it. (different manufacturers but same logic) the smiler on the outer seats it becomes really rattley which makes it very rough. On the inner seat its fairly smooth. But the smilers seats are closer and the same level. With voltron the seats are further apart and the outer seats are raised up slightly which is further from the track which in short will make it alot rougher and rattley. As charlotte said in the video she experienced barely any shakey moments whereas shawn did.

Because I was in a hotel and came to the park via Holland, I didn't notice any of the chaos in Italy. Fortunately, things were quite civilized in Holland and the atmosphere was great.
Unfortunately, I had the same problems during the ride, I was sitting in the last row on the far left and after a while it was really uncomfortable due to the enormous vibration. It also gave me a headache. I had imagined my first ride to be a bit different, hopefully the next one will be better. 😅

Much like the majority of others, we continued that way. If we didn’t then we would have ended up going a much longer way round. The area needed blocking off properly if they wanted everyone to go a different way!

Had a couple of rides two days ago. The layout is just incredible and I overall enjoyed the full experience. I must admit however that the rattle was quite rough. Pretty strong headache especially after the second ride. I hope they fix these "rougher" trains asap to let everyone enjoy the smoothest ride possible. But anyway, so happy to have tried it.

Thank you to show us once again a chaotic opening day of a major ride. Many years ago I did the same thing with the opening of Blue fire and it was horrible. So I decided to go to Hansa park, Heide park and Phantasialand instead. I had amazing quiet days. Black Mamba, Karnan or Fluch der Demonen might not be Voltron, but they're still an amazing rides. But thank you for showing us this. It brings back memories. Dangerous to be there and a very poor organized.

It looks spectacular, but the rattle is interesting. It seems that if you cantilever off the sides of the track you will get vibrations, there is simply no way to avoid it regardless of how new or fancy the ride is (i.e.wing coasters and Eurofighters).

Thank you for your honest review. Sadly, the majority of German TH-camrs who were there did not mention the chaos at all. We were next to you at Italy ( my wife even had a lovely chat with you) and when the rope dropped, we were immediately pushed against the poor staff member who had been tasked with removing the rope.
Later we were one of those sent away from the Greece area only to notice 10 min later that they had opened the gates to Croatia. We were waiting outside the park since 6 o'clock in the morning.....
Anyway, thanks for your videos and we hope your next days will be a little more peaceful und relaxed :)

Thanks for your initial review, surprised how lukewarm it is but thanks for being honest! Not good to hear about the rattling. From an engineering perspective these trains that have occupants seated outside the track rails are fundamentally flawed - any high intensity coasters should stick to 2-wide seating to avoid this issue, in my opinion.

Seeing those crowd levels made me very uncomfortable! I'm glad there were no accidents but I would expect a better organisation from Europa Park.
