    Have been doing this for a few years. You will get to the point of realizing your "time" variance will be your largest issue. Although I heard you speak to "longer" time based trades. This is where that process will work. In the end it comes to "something gained is better than nothing gained".
    Thanks for sharing.

      Hi DSWH,
      I agree, definitely sensitive to it. Have had some "live" trading with real $ and small positions with about a 10 second delay since trade alert trigger. Logging all that info to examine and compare to backtest results. Thanks for the feedback!

      Trading bots are mostly scams... but there are exceptions. You just need a lot a patience to backtest and run many bots, discard the ones that are scams and keep playing with the ones that are good. EDIT: since so many of you ask, yes I use Galileo FX . ..

    Wow, Kent! This is outstanding! While it is far beyond my ability, I simply want a system that can alert me to when a delta reaches a certain level so I can manage or take on a position I contacted Fidelity about this, and the CSR said, "gee, no one asked me about that before." Told me all I needed to know about the guy on the other end and the Fidelity representation with ATP. While I continue to use the archaic ATP since I'm seemingly "married to it," I'm looking for my edge and reaching out for other ways for data to know which trades to place. I'm really enjoying your videos this weekend. Wanna laugh? Three years go I blew off Delta.

      Hi Carey,
      Thanks for the support. You should look into tradingview.com and their alerts - www.tradingview.com/support/solutions/43000520149-about-tradingview-alerts/. Even with a free account, you can browse through scripts and other things available in their forums. Their charting UI has a little bit of learning curve, as well as their scripts, alerts, indicators, etc. but definitely worth diving in to see if they can help you.

      @@ThinkTradeProfit I have been tinkering with Trading View a bit and also looking at alternatives that I can easily navigate. I'm really starting to look at various metrics to analyze trades going forward. Today I also really dug into the Time and Sales in ATP to find the largest lots to sniff out the whales out there (or the market maker) and what he is likely up to. I'm finally learning dealers "hedge off" their risk by moving stocks lower, and given the stock market climate we are experiencing, it doesn't surprise me this is also contributing to further downside, which is going to have a cascading effect. We can see the open interest, but let's try to narrow down who is doing what to move the market, especially on individual beaten down stocks. That would be another excellent video for you to consider so we can try to ride along and be on the right side. Many thanks!

    Wow very cool stuff. I've created my own algorithm in TraderView to assist my trades. I'm planning on replicating it using C++ (My niche) and then web sockets/JNodes to enter trades using the Alpaca Markets API. I really wish there was a Fidelity API I could interact with since I like ATP's execution. My long term investments will remain with Fidelity. Now that Charles Schwab has bought TDA I hope this lights a fire on the other 2 of the big 3 and we start getting more tools for the quant/algo daytrade space. Fidelity is really sleeping on it right now. The r/FidelityInvestments subreddit managed by Fidelity support has received lots of requests asking for a rework of ATP to be more chart friendly like TraderView. So hopefully something is brewing behind doors and eventually I get my wish.

    I started with Selenium as well, but later on I actually managed to fully utilize Fidelity's Active Trader Pro and run it unattended in AWS cloud. Fully integrated so far - receiving quotes, history, account balances, placing /tracking trades etc. all in real time - no need for Selenium drivers. I actually have built the whole trading platform - I use ATP just for rebalancing of my Fidelity accounts, majority of trading goes through InteractiveBrokers Gateway. I have abstracted both, Fidelity and IB under IB-like API so they are identical from the consumer prospective. I was planning to make the API code for Fidelity open source, hoping to build a team and evolve the project, but I think it may break Fidelity end user agreement. Need to contact Fidelity and ask their permission publishing API wrapper against the ATP. Ping me if you are developer, interested in seeing the code and participating in the project. Fidelity actually did a very good job designing the ATP platform - it is very easy to use, I wish they opened the API.

      Make sure you don't have multiple selenium chromedrivers still active. I think they have some automation detection to prevent hacking. Ideally, you could have your code use the same chromedriver and not keep creating new ones. That is what I do. Having some sequence that does a logout works also. In Python, it might contain:
      driver.close()
      driver.quit()
      I think they track IP addressess and multiple login sessions from the same place for security purposes. I hope that helps. Sorry for the delayed reply, I was on vacation. Good Luck!

      Apologies for missing this comment previously. Yes, this approach with Selenium could be used with any broker that has a web-based UI for entering orders. There is a better option now, if you are on Windows, Power Automate. It is less code-writing and could be very viable. What software do you use to make your life easier when filing taxes as a TTS? Do you use MTM accounting? Do you use an S Corp? Do you have a video on those subjects?

    • @ThinkTradeProfit
      @ThinkTradeProfit  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Jules,
      I don't have a video on those topics, but I'll share what I've done. When I started long ago, I only used a Single Member LLC, but now have an S-Corp. I elected the 475 MTM election, but if you have a lot of long-term holdings outside of IRA's/401Ks consider it carefully because you'll liable for taxes on those gains at the end of the year even if you don't sell. I wouldn't form an S-Corp without going full-time and knowing you are going to be profitable with yearly gains of +$60-80,000 or more. Depending on where you live you'll need an accountant and lawyer setup which can easily run into a $3000/year.
      Start with an LLC, deduct your expenses (software, equipment, oneline subscriptions) and make sure you have many trades spead evenly throughout the year. I've never had a problem with Trader Tax Status, but I trade a lot. I also avoided the home office deduction, and meals and trips deductions. I have friends who "write off" those and keep notes on framing them into "business acitivities", but I've always felt it's begging for an audit. You could do your own taxes with HR Block (the desktop version). My 1099-B's from Fidelity are over 200 pages. They wouldn't import at that size but you could manually group by Symbol and report Proceeds and Cost basis. I did that for my first few years, doing my own taxes, and never had a problem with IRS.
      With an S-Corp, you should have an accountant do your taxes. It gets complicated depending on how much you have the S-Corp handle in terms of health insurance, retirement accounts, and salaries. I hope that helps. Good Luck!

      Apologies for the delayed reply. I missed this question previously. I do not think you're doing anything wrong and I have not seen that message before. Call Active Trader Support, the customer service is amazing. They can figure it out if you haven't already. Thanks for supporting the channel. Good Luck!

      That older version was not very easy to share or setup for most people.
      I have some new ideas that I am excited about. Will share soon. Good Luck!

    Interesting video!, have been using a fidelity quantitative trading program that has been giving me a return of .08-1.8% return a day. Is this similar?

    • @ThinkTradeProfit
      @ThinkTradeProfit  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Joe,
      Thanks for the interest in this. Mostly, it is a way to introduce an automated strategy using Fidelity specifically and getting around the fact that they do not have an API to directly integrate with. The Tradingview scripts underneath can be shuffled as needed and all the coding for the strategy lives there. It's a bit clunky. I wish it were faster, but on the 5-minute time frame it serves its purpose. Interested in how the orders for your Fidelity quantitative trading program are entered. Good Luck!

    This is an interesting idea! Will this work for non-day traders as well? I'd imagine going long would definitely have more risk for running a bot like this.

      Hi Jeb,
      I think it could have uses for any time frame of trading. Swing Trading, Long Term trading, etc. I think the focus would be on Indicator & Strategies on tradingview.com that suit your objectives and goals. Then, "wire" those up to the bot/python app to put in the orders when the time comes. If you weren't taking many trades per day (or getting many signals per day), you could just manually manage them from tradingview alerts. I hope that helps. Good Luck!

Hope to share some of them soon. Feel free to put any questions in the Comments sections of videos. I try to answer them all in time. Good Luck in 2024!

      Hi Renz82,
      The stop Ioss is just a starting point. It backtested OK on stocks with a specific profile (volume, ATR). I like the dollar cost averaging idea. What would be a good time interval to add to positions? Thanks for supporting the channel!

    on ATP, when charting an options contract, what does green vs red mean. I would assume green = buy and red= sell but that doesnt seem to be correct. any insight? thanks

    • @ThinkTradeProfit
      @ThinkTradeProfit  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Bob,
      Unsure of what you are referring to "when charting the Options contract". Are you looking at the chart candles? (Those colors can be changed by selecting 'Settings', but the default may be red, green). Those indicate the direction of price for the time frame of the Chart candle. In this example, price was moving up during the 1 Minute candles when green, an down when red. imgur.com/6pkNaMD Apologies if I misunderstood your question, but feel free to clarify here. Good Luck!

      Hi Brad,
      It's definitely brittle and needs to be maintained. It's still a "toy project. I cleaned up some bugs and let it run small share sizes. It's also complex to configure and I don't know to share it with others easily without all the complexities of the setup. Install python, install selenium, they'll need at least one trading view alert, and also install/confgure ngrok. Thanks for the interest and supporting the channel. Good Luck!

    Kent, since you haven't made a new video in over a year I can only assume that you walked away from all things social and I don't blame you. After investing several years of your time, and sharing your great informational knowledge and having only 7500 subscribers to show for it?? I just discovered you today 5/30/23 and I really like your comfortable, laid-back style and that you forego the "used car salesman, sensationalistic" style that many of the TH-camrs use. From my first impression of you I can without hesitation say that you will be a significant loss to "we" active investors wanting to learn more, and I hope you RECONSIDER :) As for TD?? I can't stand the company as a whole. Make no mistake, they keep all the good trades for themselves. All the crucial info that you showed people do not get with TD T or S, the company traders DO Get and use for themselves which leaves the rest of us at a disadvantage. Hope to see you back again on TH-cam - AW

      Hi Britten,
      I have others, including one at TD Ameritrade. While I love thinkorswim, the TD Ameritrade backend is not good for executions. The Price Improvements from Fidelity add up over the weeks and months. With their merger with Schwab, I have heard quotes and prints are slightly worse (slower). I should do another one of these side by side again - th-cam.com/video/hDzOXwGovfY/w-d-xo.html Thanks for supporting the channel. Good Luck!
