@@alizahir9763 i'm going to make a video on this but tl;dr: remember that there's more to software engineering than just coding -- you have to communicate with teammates, present at meetings, take ownership, etc. so anytime you feel like you don't have one of the qualities remember that there are so many more that you do have and are the reason you are where you are

@@namanhkapur My pot-head cheap parents enrolled me into a state board Bengali medium highschool. It was a PTSD inducing labour camp of a "school". There I learnt how a 40year old man beats the soul out of a 10year old boy. There were no washroom, no drinking water, no computers.
Most Indians lived through this experience of "schooling". Went to job market where they demand skills that we don't have and it's mind melting to learn skills like programming on your own when you were conditioned like this.
We can only spectate these success stories as amateur astronomers observe stars.

This just shows that everyone's journey is different, some take 10 years some take 3 months. NO matter where you are in the world, keep coding, keep applying, everyone fails; it's those who learn from failure and don't give up that succeed.

I guess my take away is, he started uni in 2016, right now it's 2022, it's a long process of 6 years and consistency all while also having fun doing it. I'm still in my second year of uni so of course comparing myself to Namanh wouldn't be fair in anyway. Everything is a process, some people got there faster some people are slower and that's completely fine.

Wow this video is amazing!!! after an on-off period of 7+ years of wanting to learn to code I never really got much done (Had 2 kids in that time and renovating a house while working 45+ hours a week!!). So only got to making websites for a few private clients (Bootstrap mainly, plus Wordpress), but actual coding just basics in JavaScript - lost a lot of motivation lately while suffering from Covid. But I found your channel today and LOVE your content! You have motivated me to start again. I am 45 years old and do have some frontend experience in my current insurance job, plus work I have done for clients in the past - but I want to become a React developer (full time job or freelance), so would love some advice on this!! thank you for this channel, you are amazing! the highschool you go to as a kid is soooooooooooo important, and it honestly feels like being left out having gone to a small one; no coding courses beyond HTML, no connections to make, etc etc etc.
Skip to university, and I just become a big fish in a small pond. This pretty much leads to me feeling like an overachiever, doing a huge multi-year project on my own. Tons of periodic burnout and life stress, since 31 ACT garnered me no scholarships. Dropped out after a year to teach myself for cheaper, and the amount of gatekeeping there is about not having a degree is mf disgusting. Like, why did I spend thousands of gruuling hours pushing myself (when there was no proffessor waiting on my assignment!) if I'm going to be treated like a second class citizen when applying? Not much else to say except that our educational attainment in the US is dog shyt lol
All goes back to being grateful for the opportunites you've been given, and try extend an arm to those who haven't had as many as you. It's something I should acknowledge more, but I can't help but feel SO shorted by the price of EDUCATION preventing me from having a real college experience, a piece of paper that is pretty much required to get interviews, etc. How is it acceptable that we gatekeep a decent living from talented people at the point of EDUCATION!? It is genuinely pathetic.

As a student at Epitech in Europe I can see that some things are taught a way that it's meant to be useful for the future like basic bash commands you didn't know about even though you knew how to code, things like the basics of memory, C programming, inheritances, encapsulation (maybe not concerned in the "smaller" things anymore) but you get the point. Thanks for sharing this!

I don't usually comment on videos, but this is really inspiring. I can relate to most of the part and the hustling you've done. Cheers to life 🍻

Bro your story reminds of nipsey hustle it’s a Marathon . You sir embody growth mindset and perseverance. I love it as some one who just got done with a Bootcamp and suffered imposter syndrome going through it and I kinda still do but your story reminds me more it’s a marathon not a sprint keep running keep coding and one will get there wow thanks for sharing your story man . I love your message and story and I appreciate you showing that hey it’s ok to fail and keep running the coding race ❤️
