For those that don't know, this way Glen Payne's final public performance. The 1999 NQC was in September and Glen went home October 15th. Even from his sick bed, Glen had such a powerful voice with which he blessed so many.

He sure blessed many. I can only imagine how much George was devastated when his best friend passed away.

Thanks so much for the iinfo.. I am a former D.J. and I used to feature The Cathedrals on some of our Gospel programs. We sure took a big loss when Glen and George passed, but they are together again, picking on each other...

There has never been nor will there ever be another man quite like Glen Payne. He was one of a kind and is greatly missed in the world of southern gospel music. He and George Younce were a role model for so many, myself included. I miss them both and hope I can help carry on their legacy in some small way.

I can't help but get choked up every time I see this video. Glen Payne was a true solider of the gospel of Jesus Christ. Christianity is ever so much better because of him and his ministry. Glen, you are ever so right! We do win! I love reading the back of the book! I know he, and George Y ounce was a blessing to all. God bless! We will meet again some day!

Glen went out like a believer is supposed to. Where O Death is your Sting? Jesus provides Eternal Hope for everyone who has come to Him to be saved. I suspect George did the same thing when he left. Roger as well. Praise The Lord!!!

I do love our heros of the faith that have been called home to their reward. Glen Payne was a rare diamond for the gospel of God. He did not just sing a song, but he made that song come alive with a new, fresh anointing. No one will ever take Glen's place and that is ok by me. Glen Payne was the real deal. He lived what he sang about. Because of Glen's songs that he sung, I am able to make the journey. We lost our pastor, which was my father-in-law in Nov. of 2005. On dec.16,2005 I fell on my job and broke my back and my neck. I was no longer able to work my secular job and I was no longer able to be the Youth Minister at our church. I felt as if my life was over. Around this time Gaither Videos were hitting the television. This became my lifeline along with reading my bible and my family. I did not know what my future held for me. I ending upstairs in my bed for 8 years! There were times that I thought that I would lose my mind. But these songs of the faith helped me to make it through this dark time of my and my family's life. Thank you for sharing your patriarch with the rest of us. God Bless You All!!

I can't believe he's been gone 20 years now. I can remember EXACTLY where I was when I heard over the car radio that he had passed away. I was only able to see the Cathedrals once, it was in 1996 in Bangor, Maine. I was scheduled to take my SATs the next day and probably shouldn't have been out that late - but I did anyway. I don't think my score suffered TOO badly for it. :-)

I was in attendance the night that Glenn called in and sang that song. I remember sitting there with tears rolling down my face rejoicing with the thousands of others listening to that beautiful song. I miss both George and Glenn very much. Southern Gospel isn't the same without the Cathedrals. They were my heroes. Thanks for posting.

Marla, I loved to hear The Cathedrals. Recently, I heard a program that featured them on Pandora and I felt the joy I use to feel when listening to them sing. Your Papa was singing all the parts to Heavenly Parade. It was awesome. Glen Payne was an inspiration to me.

I was watching the National Quartet Association on the Internet when George talked to Glen. He sung this song & I could see it all, but had no idea that he wouldn't make it. I always loved him & George & all the Gaither bunch and when I found this on here I couldn't believe it had been saved. I love it & if it was on a CD I would have worn it out long ago. I appreciate you starting this page or whatever you call it as it does so much for me. I want them to play or sing this at my funeral along with one by Jeff & Sherry Easter called Going Away Party. I love that one too & I told them I wanted them to celebrate my death with it. I'm 81 years old so never know when God might call me home. I know some people live longer that but I know that one day my day will come.

Marla, I wish I knew what to say after hearing this. I got to know Glen a little bit by way of Cathedral concerts here in my area. He treated everyone like they were part of the family and to hear him by way of video keeps his memory alive in every single person that listens to videos such as this. Remember this always, Marla, Your family is in my prayers daily. Love to you and yours!
