- I filmed the outward journey this morning at Lockerbie. If you haven't already seen this, you'll find it at • Inter-City's "Ayr Exte...
For reasons explained in this morning's video, the train didn't make it to its intended destination. In Scotland and the north of England it's dark by teatime at this time of year and - after a glorious sunny day - it turned icy cold as the evening drew on. A chilly night to spend two hours on an exposed station platform!
The train was topped-and-tailed by two heritage electrics - 86 101 Sir William A Stanier FRS and 87 002 Royal Sovereign.
Great video tim, plenty of trains there. I would have probably gone to Carlisle for it as well, but January is prelim time, so better study and revise for them !!
Ah - exams - the joys of being young!!!
Brilliant 👍
Thank you.
Well worth the wait and does look nice in that livery. Bet you were glad to get back to a warm living room.🥶
- - wasn't I just!!
Probably similar to today when it got to 2c at best. However be thankful it's not raining as it's not really stopped since July 2023 began!
- - ah well - - January in Scotland and the north of England!
Nice video Tim great camera work as usual bye for now Philip
You must of been frozen, they were good to see though happy memories of the days you saw them on all the inter city trains.
Who ever thought in the 1980s that we 'd be rushing to film them as heritage locos? I suppose today's youngsters will be doing the same with Pendolinos - and other machines that haven't even been invented yet - when we're long dead and gone.
@@schoolshorts Thats true We saw so many back then they became a bit dull like the pendolino is to us today so I suppose when the kids who like them today will want a preserved unit to go on
Definitely a cold late afternoon - may have been why it was so quiet! Saying that it hasn't got much warmer since (from a white Solway coast)
- - a bit parky this side of the Solway too!
That was a close call with that runaway bag, when the pride train left…😮
It must have been a Barrasie at Barassie… 🥶🥶🥶🥶🥶🏴
