Hi! I am in Michigan too. Love the fall too. Nice property you have! We have over 100 trees, so it's all about leaf collection. Using a JD 155C (one year only mower) to pull the DR Leaf Vac. Just bought a used X739 (AWD and AWS) to mow for next year. Considering a 2025r with backhoe for work around here, but will likely keep a dedicated mower I am thinking. I like the idea of getting down to one piece of equipment maybe.

Thank you neighbor. Over 100 trees??? Wow!!! That’s about 90 more than I have. We seem to get all the neighbors leaves though. The DR leaf vac is a great option. I highly recommend the 2025R. It’s been a great tractor for me. I’m looking at zero turns though. I’m considering a grasshopper or a walker. Both have leaf collection systems which I like. We’ll see. Thanks for watching and commenting. Much appreciated.

I enjoyed your perspective on this. There definitely are two sides. I have storage, but current plan is using a JD 445 AWS for mowing, and getting the tractor just for all the other stuff, but having a deck should I need to mow with it someday or if the other mower breaks down. The 445 really isn’t bad to maintain, change oil, grease every year, and hydro every other at most. You could do the same with AWS X7xx series or zero turn. I like the ride of a garden tractor over zero turn, and the AWS tractors are easy on the turf as well. You could find a used one and try it over over the tractor, and always sell it if you don’t like it.

Thank you.. The JD AWS tractors are very nice. I’m leaning towards a zero turn. I like the Ferris zero turns. Also considering a grasshopper zero turn. Save the 2025 for other jobs. I’ll make room for both somehow. Plans could change however. I do like those AWS. Appreciate your watching and commenting.

@ Good luck with whatever you decide. My only advice is to see if dealer will allow you a test mow. See if you really like it first on your property.

Well keep in mind as you mow that yard more it will smooth out better and better to the point you can attack it faster on your 2025R. I've used countless machines for conquering dressed yards and while haven't mowed much with compact tractors I know if it's too bumpy to mow fast on your 2025R it's going to be too bumpy for comfort on anything smaller from the wheelbase change alone not to mention smaller wheels and less weight to keep from dribbling like a basketball.
But you're right, they're a multipurpose tool that excel in reducing your storage needs with a side effect of reducing maintenance just as great.
My new place had space constraints that forced me to consolidate all my machines+accessories into one (this was definitely for the better! So tired of maintaining 3 different machines and all the attachments for each) and equally important for me was having something that could conqure my hills - I need 4x4 not just to blow snow but to mow too if that says anything haha Really wanted the 2032R/2038R but were more tippy on hillsides than the 2025R (1025R is the best of them all but not enough ground clearance for me) so I went the same route you did, no regrets! But wish I had your tires, mine is second hand with the crappy R4 skid steer tires....
Don't worry about keeping hours of it, ocassional 5 minute grease job is the most inconvenience you'll face. They're good for 2,000hr+ and finish mowing isn't hard on these at all compared to ones that only move dirt, rock, or vegetation so expect yours to far exceed that 👍

@@williambartholomew5680 All great points. I’m still up in the air about a zero turn. If I did get one it would probably be a suspension version unit. Ferris has some real nice mowers. I do like not having to maintain another piece of equipment however. I’m torn. Thanks for watching and commenting. Much appreciated.

I have a zero-turn mower that can cut my acre of land in about 30 minutes. However, I have a lot of trees to maneuver around. I watched your video because I'm considering getting a 1025R with a mid-mount mower, mainly for picking up leaves. My zero-turn mower gets stuck too easily so pulling a leaf vacuum is out of the question. It's a Bobcat, and it's 17-18 years old. While it’s a great mower, it was quite rough to ride until I put a better seat on it. I would love to have a zero-turn mower with suspension as well.

Zero turns definitely are a time saver. Nice for going around trees and landscaping. I love my 2025r and would recommend a 1025. They are little power houses. I definitely want something with suspension or a good seat. Thanks for watching and commenting. Much appreciated.

The 1025R is awesome, mechanically the same as his 2025R but smaller wheels & wheelbase resukting in an even tighten turning radius. If you need a 4x4 machine to spend most its time mowing the 1025R is the go-to unless your property demands more ground clearance under your machine.

We have about 7 acres most of it is wooded. We own a 23 2032R with the 72 inch deck. We also cut and process alot of wood and it was primarily purchased for wood hauling and stump popping off the yard. It came with the mower deck. Primarily for the yard we have a Deere lx 178 to do the grass. Smaller footprint can reach around then weed wack. For what you have there check out the Deere X738 as it has the sit on tractor feel and has the four pivot turn wheels as an option or straight rear axle. Plus a diesel version. It may be my next purchase whenever this old LX178 dies it’s about 31 years old now.

Have a 2020 2025r TLB. Had a Craftsman T310 54in mower since 2019. In 2021 I purchased a new version 60D and had it fitted to my 2020. Quickly realized I didn’t love it, was slower than my Craftsman and felt like King Kong with the ROPs down. I did the Reverse switch mod as I strip my lawn, no circles. In June I opted for a JD 760r 60 with tweels and got tweels for the front too. Mulch blades and it’s no comparison speed wise. 760r has a strip kit too, but cut quality is similar (60D was quite good too)
I got a 24ft V-nose car hauler for 3rd garage. Stores both, attachments etc.
Oh the 2025r had to mow in low gear due to some hills. Zero turn spins and shoots. Far superior seat on the 760r too. Wish that seat could be fitted on the tractor

Sounds like everyone has a different solution, and that is because we all have a different sized Yards and terrain. A Zero Turn Mower would not give me anything but a single purpose mower. I have a 2018 2025R with a 54" Deck and I bought a X570 last year to replace a well worm X320 with 1,600 hours. All of my Trees are large enough I can mow around them on either machine. I can mow up to 7 mph forward and 5 mph in reverse and 5 mph is fast enough for the terrain and a quality cut on either machine. I have a ton of mature trees so the mulch kit on a 2025R does the job and so does the x570 with a mulch kit and a Power flow during the fall. In the winter both have plows, so yes I maintain two machines but there is redundancy.

    • @mercurymangarage6186
      @mercurymangarage6186  3 หลายเดือนก่อน

You are very correct. It’s a broad spectrum. And yes a zero turn is a single job machine. That’s one of the reasons I’m hesitant. Your X570 is a nice machine. I’m looking at that route too. Sounds like you have a nice piece of property to maintain. Thanks for watching and commenting. Much appreciated.

I have the same tractor, JD 2025R with 54D deck. I, too am considering another machine, reason being I find the 2025R a little too heavy for my lawn. A little wetness and I leave tracks, and I have the same tires as you. I am on the fence as well about what to change to... Zero Turn or a lawn tractor? I am leaning towards a JD 5 series mower... X570, X580, X590. I mow about 1/2 of what you do. The zero turn is nice, but it's a one trick pony. With the lawn tractor I can still tow stuff, move snow or what have you. Speed and time mowing is a moot point for me, as I am retired and love all the seat time I can get. Will be interesting to see what you ultimately do. Just found your channel by the way and subscribed. And a very nice yard/place you have there.

Sounds like we have about the same issue. I’m retired as well so time is not a big factor. I enjoy mowing. It’s mostly the hours I’m putting on the tractor and the bumps. We have a decision to make. lol. Thanks for tuning me in and subscribing. Much appreciated. Thanks for the kind words.

Yes. Great on flat somewhat smooth lawns. Mine is flat but bumpy and I’m not going to take the time to level it. Too much acreage for that. I may run 3pt dethatcher over it to see if that helps. Still looking at zero turns though. Thanks for watching and commenting. Much appreciated.

I live on 10 acres and have both a 3038e and 4720, neither of which have a belly motor but both have brush Hogs. We also have some Ferris Zero Turns of both 60 and 72 in. I will take the zero turn hands down all day long everyday even for my pasture cutting. They are far faster and ride better than my tractors. I spend about 10 times more time in the seat of my lawn mower then my tractor over the course of a year. Make sure you invest heavily in the equipment you are going to be riding the most
