The address of the former Bakker parsonage is 8022 or 8055 Kittridge Bay Rd in Tega Cay. I’ve gone there using Google Maps to check out the old Bakker stomping grounds. Obviously, the gargantuan house is long gone, but it’s still fun to take a virtual stroll through the neighborhood that endured the Bakkers. This upload is such a wonderful time capsule. Thank you. I’ve always wanted to know what the house looked like on the inside. [EDIT] In doing a little of my own research on the Tega Cay house, if I’m not mistaken, the house was originally approximately 3500 sq ft when the Bakkers moved in sometime in 1980. Over the course of 6 or so years, they had at least 4 additions added on to the home, making it 10,200 sq ft. So fascinating how, as the ministry grew, the house grew right along with it. Eerie how both are completely gone now.
Is this the main one they lived in and the kids grew up In. that everybody chastised them about the one that burnt down? That was represented in the Jessica chastain (love that movie) movieI bet it looked even better with all the furniture in it! The movie got the big living room window with water views and the little water decking almost down to a T!!

Falwell never came to Heritage USA while the Bakkers were there. Falwell was originally contacted by John Ankerberg and Jimmy Swaggart. They told Falwell about the rumors of Jim's liaison with Jessica Hahn. Falwell without telling Ankerberg or Swaggart sent 2 of his aides to meet PTL's second in command Richard Dortch. Dortch was on vacation in Tampa, Florida. The 2 Falwell aides said Falwell knew that the info about Hahn was going to be used against Jim by Ankerberg and Swaggart and that Falwell wanted to help the Bakkers. Jim and Tammy were in Palm Springs and within a few days Dortch and Falwell and Falwell's team flew there. It was in Palm Springs that Falwell told Jim that if Jim resigned Falwell could take over temporarily until the news died down. Why Chastain did not follow the true story is a mystery. Jerry Falwell never loaned Jim or PTL money. Jerry was never at PTL when Tammy interviewed the man with AIDS. Most of the film was fiction. The NBC tv movie from 1990 Fall From Grace attempted to follow the true story line and paid Jim and Tammy to consult. Its not the best film but a million times more accurate than Chastian's attempt.

It would seem that she wanted the name recognition of the original but wanted to create this totally false narrative. It would almost seem that Chastain wanted to recreate Tammy as this person who wanted to challenge the right. For example, Chastain took the interview Tammy did with Steve Pieters and inserted Falwell which absolutely did NOT happen. She then brought Pieters in (he was still alive) to help promote the film. Chastain also falsified the scene in the recording studio where Tammy is pregnant. Tammy did not meet with Gary Paxton at that point in history. Her kids had no say in the film. Jay Bakker touched on issues he had with the film but did not really address things. As for Falwell, his only interest in Jim and Tammy came when he learned about Jessica Hahn from Ankerberg and Swaggart. Falwell later told a Florida Baptist pastor that he saw the PTL satellite network as a major asset and he wanted it.

I saw this on You Tube years ago and it was taken down for some reason. I will give Jim and Tammy credit though wether they were in Palm Springs, Gatlinburg, or back in South Carolina. They both lived in the same house. Years ago I found out that when Paul and Jan were alive they both did not live together Jan had her manison and Paul had his manison. What kind of husband and wife team create a tv ministry but the married couple lives in sepearate houses. Right or Wrong Jim and Tammy always looked normal to me compared to Paul and Jan. There’s no way they didn’t have a maid or cleaner come in at least a couple of times a week especially with their schedule that house is to big for two people to keep it up and if you’ll remember Tammy asked for a maid for one year when they were leaving PTL
The reporter was saying there was no live in maid. On several episodes of the Jim and Tammy Show they do mention having household help. One long time housekeeper was Bea Martin. Another housekeeper was Johnnie Mae. Both are mentioned in various books about Jim and Tammy. Johnnie Mae would often travel with the Bakker family to help out at the home in California. Jim also mentioned a third housekeeper who adopted one of the babies from the home for unwed mothers at Heritage USA. I lived in Charlotte during this era, and I was amazed at just how disgusting it was that Jim and Tammy Bakker flaunted their wealth the way they did. That was bad enough in itself, but the way their ignorant, brain-dead followers 'pledged' every spare dollar they had for a so-called 'Church' that was really nothing more than a sham was far worse. Jim and Tammy called the whole shebang---PTL---which they claimed stood for People That Love. The funniest thing is how their followers who pledged a lot of money over time were promised a free three day vacation at 'Heritage Village', an elaborate hotel/amusement park resort. However, bookings were so oversold that many followers had to wait as much as five years to get their 'free' vacation. Once the big scandal was exposed, the whole thing eventually disintegrated. So much for People That Love.

PTL had paid for some of the furniture and those items needed to be returned to PTL.
