OMG I used to have Quest For Camelot, but after I lost my GBC a few years ago, I've been trying to remember what the game was called. So, thank you so much for posting this, since I've been looking for this for a long time! :D
great video, very well done and I can tell a lot of effort was put into it. My only criticism is that some of the featured gameplay for some games were just plain boring or were just menus and stuff or running around mindlessly rather than the meat of the gameplay. Regardless, great video.
wow, i remember almost all of these games. this is back when the quality of the game is what mattered, not the graphics. it actually brought a tear to my eye when i saw some of those games D:
@SuperSmashDolls I know there were problems with the comparisons, but I had a limited amount of characters to say stuff. Point is, the GBC is more powerful. It's not surprising to see games that look more impressive than anything on the NES, and it's not particularly easy to say which hardware developers did a better job of pushing to it's limits as a result.
3:48. Metal Gear!!!! this is one of the best reviewed (and underrated in terms of sales) game on GBC! to anyone who still owns a GBA or GBC, i highly recommed that you find a copy of this game!
Nice games. Can't say I like the music all that much though. Some of those games like Dragon's Lair and that 3-d racing gamr made me say wow. I didn't think a gameboy color was capable of that.
There's a game from my childhood that I can't remember... It was a platformer by nintendo and it was for the gbc, but that's all I can remember. I'd give anything to play it again xD
the gameboy and the neo geo pocket are the best handheld consoles ever.i wish that the new handheld consoles gives back this feeling that u play a awesome portable console not a home console .i have a psp and i like it too but its not so awesome like the classic gameboy.rest in peace my old grey friend.T-T
@321cheeseman I should note that the NES doesn't have onboard VRAM; tiles are mapped to the CHR ROM bus which can be either ROM or RAM. Also the GBC doesn't have 32KB ram; it has 8 4K banks; and forward-compatible software can only use bank 0. likewise VRAM is banked (2 8K banks). the GBC also doesn't need 4 tilemaps just to have glitch-free scrolling because the screen fits comfortably in one tilemap. Also comparing clockrate of a 6502 vs. z80 is kinda dumb
Sorry, running android version of youtube. I was asking what is that racing game at 6:43. The description only describes games up to just over the minutes in on my end "again, running mobile TH-cam. I'm not sure if description is incomplete or mobile TH-cam is just being strange like that.
@SuperSmashDolls To be fair, the GBC had more memory and a faster CPU compared to the NES. Then there's nearly a decade's worth of programming experience with its rather similar predecessor to boot.
I wouldn't say it was all about "BETTER GRAPHIX" since the resolution is the same, the sprites are the same size (8x8 8x16). It was moreso about color, which was much more useful. It's difficult to work with 4 colors, and have it so the player can always see where they are/what they are doing.
Why isnt dragon warrior monsters in the mix here somewhere... I spent hours upon hours playing both of those games. They're really amazing if you feel like looking them up. ^_^
@Wilford870 Yea I do agree, I didn't mean that they had bad graphics by any means, I just meant they really focused on making them more fun back then but now its ALL focused about graphics, and not fun.
@XXXXNanoXXXxxx ....all right mate....but the Game Boy color was a revolution in Portable Gaming Industry in 1998...It's a piece of my memories when I was young boy and I lived easy life. It's nostalgie- feeling. I feel awesome when I play my lovely retro gameboy color!!!!
@SuperSmashDolls Not really. the NES was just just FAR more limited. NES had a processor that ran at 1.8 MHz, 8-bit color (a palette of 56 colors, only 16 colors on screen at a time), 2KB of RAM, and 2KB of VRAM. GBC had a processor that ran at 8 MHz, 15-bit color (a palette of 32,768 colors, up to 56 colors on screen at a time), 32KB of RAM, and 16KB of VRAM. Even the original Game Boy was more powerful, albeit with only 2-bit color.
@ChaosMaster7 Unless you get that gold-print "battery life extender" or whatever it's called. It appends about as much game time as you'd get on a DS. You also pay about $25 for it. @_@
Poke games Zelda Metal Gear FF Mario Mega Man Dragon Quest/warrior But ofc have another great games too. And the driver $ gta gbc versions very awesomes
Ha Ha Ha lol Al the songs belong to Disturbed, pls don't take my video off like the rest, i', giving them full credit"This video contains an audio track that has not been authorized by WMG. The audio has been disabled. LOL
8:31 best game for the GBC along with Pokémon Gold, Silver and Crystal.
Nice and very detailed List..!! 5 stars for you bro..!! Cheers Dude..!!
Hands down THE greatest tribute video to the Game Boy Color on TH-cam.
I was in JR. High when GBC came out and now my first child is on the way. Time will FLY people. : )
It's been 9 years since this comment was made
TH-cam has struck again and silenced yet another vid. In any sense, thanks for the flashback! It was FUN watching it!
BEST GB GAME EVER:
-Mystic Quest (Seiken densetsu 1)
-Zedla - Link's Awakening
-Metroid - Return of Samus
Isn't Final Fantasy Adventure Seiken densetsu 1?
Seiken Densetsu (japan)= -Mystic Quest (in France)
-Final Fantasy Adventure (US)
Oh okay, that makes sense. It
's weird that they reused the name Mystic Quest for the SNES game here in the US.
radioactivechimp
yeah i baught the snes Mystic Quest thinking its the next episode or a kind of remake...
how disapointed i'v been... :(
The best amazing classic games gb/c
OMG I used to have Quest For Camelot, but after I lost my GBC a few years ago, I've been trying to remember what the game was called. So, thank you so much for posting this, since I've been looking for this for a long time! :D
great video, man !
i really like your "100 some console games" !
keep it going !
great video, very well done and I can tell a lot of effort was put into it. My only criticism is that some of the featured gameplay for some games were just plain boring or were just menus and stuff or running around mindlessly rather than the meat of the gameplay. Regardless, great video.
i never thought i'd cry seeing a youtube video
wow, i remember almost all of these games. this is back when the quality of the game is what mattered, not the graphics. it actually brought a tear to my eye when i saw some of those games D:
My brother said i should expand my gamming horizons.
I might try some of these out.
Thanks, dude!
Put a tear to my eye. GBC was my first system. I miss it big time...
@SuperSmashDolls
I know there were problems with the comparisons, but I had a limited amount of characters to say stuff.
Point is, the GBC is more powerful. It's not surprising to see games that look more impressive than anything on the NES, and it's not particularly easy to say which hardware developers did a better job of pushing to it's limits as a result.
I wish I could go back in time and re-live the 90s
OMG!! i remember these beautiful days...!! i remember we were ok with these poor graphics!! :) good times :D
There are SSO MANY of these games that the 3DS needs on it's virtual consle. Pokemon, shantae, mario tennis, so many unforgetable classics
My childhood was great because of nintendo..thank you..
3:48. Metal Gear!!!! this is one of the best reviewed (and underrated in terms of sales) game on GBC! to anyone who still owns a GBA or GBC, i highly recommed that you find a copy of this game!

@LilSkott I dunno, which of these do you want to download?
Damn! The music was awesome, dude!
There's a game from my childhood that I can't remember... It was a platformer by nintendo and it was for the gbc, but that's all I can remember. I'd give anything to play it again xD

@chikenpotpies um..there was a never a game boy colour that had a backlight. The original gameboy did and so did the gba sp, but not a GBC =/
@iLFiglioRajawi yes gbc games do work on the original gameboy but only the dark gray almost black cartridges not the clear gbc game paks.
Sorry, running android version of youtube.

Was this the video that used to have music from James Holden in it?
In VictualBoy Advance (the emulator of Game Boy) what button is the SELECT??? :/ :P
WOW, so many great games... and they're no less fun today than they were years ago. Nintendo is the reason I play games today.
@SuperSmashDolls

I miss those days playing Pókemon Silver on GBC, man..
56)San Francisco Rush 2049 (5:31)
This looks like a remake of "Super RC Pro Am" from the good old Gameboy.
Why isnt dragon warrior monsters in the mix here somewhere... I spent hours upon hours playing both of those games. They're really amazing if you feel like looking them up. ^_^
Como se llama el juego del minuto 8:20
this is EXTREMELY COLORFUL
@Wilford870 Yea I do agree, I didn't mean that they had bad graphics by any means, I just meant they really focused on making them more fun back then but now its ALL focused about graphics, and not fun.

@XXXXNanoXXXxxx ....all right mate....but the Game Boy color was a revolution in Portable Gaming Industry in 1998...It's a piece of my memories when I was young boy and I lived easy life. It's nostalgie- feeling. I feel awesome when I play my lovely retro gameboy color!!!!
@ChaosMaster7 how can you get gbc gams on the psp
?
in the video
what's the name of the song?
@SuperSmashDolls
Not really. the NES was just just FAR more limited.

Would that be Power Quest on the GBC?
Awesome man

@Tsukiyomaru0 Even with the emulator I suggested?
@AlaniariSs7 Depends on the input configuration
About half of these games are violent!
I don't have any of the 100 games mentioned.
Why did TH-cam get rid of the music? What was the song anyways?
...damn youtube...
@skudzer1985 also awesome music, after watching the video I replayed it and kept browsing just to hear the song again.

I so need to find a copy of that game again holy shit it was fun.
@ChaosMaster7
Unless you get that gold-print "battery life extender" or whatever it's called.
It appends about as much game time as you'd get on a DS.
