A good tip for beginners, do not go crazy buying cheapies! Also just because a fragrance is on special online or at the store, it doesn’t mean you actually need it!
Too true. For so long, I looked at niche frags I loved, but thought 'too expensive'. So bought much cheaper options, very often. So you end up with 15frags that are 'meh'. Where you could have bought 5 lifetime frags you adore.
I would suggest that when your blind buying, you always buy the smaller size of the fragrance if possible. I have bought some larger versions only to not use them and be stuck with well over a years worth of fragrance I needed to sell. Much better to buy the smaller version if you buy alot of fragrances or if you are blind buying. If you love it, buy the bigger version later.
Sell on Ebay if you must! For less than one third the price you get double the juice if you go from fifty to a hundred ml. size. Just sample the more expensive fragrances first. I know a little difficult in these times.
Good point I bought a one ounce bottle of Dylan blue Versace lot of people are saying that it's very good has longevity so I bought it for $40 got it the other day and spray some on didn't really like the outcome
ALWAYS buy the smaller bottle unless you're wearing it every day. I've had a couple of my favorites sour on me because I didn't get through the bottle fast enough.
So much information. This is really useful for buying colognes. I don't blind buy as I like to smell it and test it on my skin but knowing the deals on where to get it helped. Thanks Antonio!
Don’t know why-- didn’t like this guy--until this video. This video here is exceptionally empowering. This may be my favourite fragrance video hands down.
People (including me) would call you crazy for buying so many fragrances but when you can pick any bottle that you name, that makes the video pretty fantastic. It makes it worth it to you as well I guess.

Thank you Antonio, I've been looking for a certain discontinued fragrance for a while but a couple of the discount sites you recommended still have it. The fact that you recommend the site helps me be a bit more confident in the purchase
Wow this was incredible. I’ve been buying from Amazon & EBay, I was lied to on my order and after reading reviews on other sellers who have scammed many people I figured I was buying from the wrong source.
Agree on seeing the same thing over and over at discount stores. Every once in a while you can find a gem. About 6 weeks ago or so I found a 6.7oz bottle of Versace Eros Flame for $70 (after taxes).

i watched 50% of your video. it is heavily packed with information. thanks for putting up such a great content. i will def. come back and rewatch it to pick on your brain. thanks.
A few points in this video that I agree with totally! (1) Do not go out and buy everything that they throw before you with flashy marketing. I have bought some in my time, that ended up on my nephew's dresser, because they were a big let down. (2) Good price does not always equal good fragrance, in terms of dry down and longevity on me. Maybe it works for someone else-and that's fine, by the way- but it may not be my cup of tea. (3) NEVER depend on that carboard sample to judge a fragrance. My M.O. is to wear nothing on my arms when going hunting. I test it, walk around for several hours and come back to it. A day or two later, I might/ might not buy it. (4) I do not go by designer name; they put something that knocks you off your feet in one instance and turn you off the next. This however, can be attributed to personal taste. All in all a very informative presentation.
Great video Antonio! Have you ever considered collaborations with other fragrance youtubers like Ash from Gents Scents, George thefragranceapprentice or Chris at Fragmental, would be an interesting combination to see the similarities and differences in opinions on designer and niche houses one from a menswear background and the other perspective purely focused on the artistry of perfumes, I think your videos with Jeremy are always entertaining to watch so I'm sure other guests on the channel would be great.
For fellow Canadian gents, Shoppers Drug Mart's bigger stores have a surprisingly wide selection of designer brand fragrances. I've seen several of the ones recommended by Antonio there
My favorite places to buy online is walmart (sold and shipped by walmart - not other retailers on their site) and costco and they allow you to return. TjMaxx/Marshalls will not let you return, which sucks because it's in that plastic case so you can't smell them until you've bought it. I don't trust anyone that doesn't let you return.
What an amazing video Antonio! Very informative - the perfect guide for fragrances. Looking forward to your fragrance brand and purchasing them once they're released.
I don't think fragrances go bad. I have this stuff my grandpa literally used to wear, some splash on stuff, from the 1960s, and it's fantastic stuff. I only wear it in extremely specific situations, and it projects like a beast. It's like an animalic leather. Very one dimensional, just perfect for splasing on my hands when I wear this one suit.
Stuff from the 60s and 70s, and even some from the 80s can remain intact as long as it’s kept well. Reason being is the ingredients used and limited note profile. Usually these are musk and deeper type scents. Modern fragrances stared using different ingredients due to cost or eliminating allergic components and these ingredients don’t last as long. And the more complex the scent profile, the more ingredients used, which increases the likelihood of the scent changing over time. Also, citrus and floral based fragrances have the worst bottle life, as they go sour as they macerate throughout the years.
Not all fragrances are made the same. Your grandparent's fragrances probably has a much higher oil concentration, and oil doesn't change much over time (only temperature can affect it really). Alcohol on the other hand evaporates slowly and that will affect the whole chemistry. Today's fragrances are much inferior in quality.
On amazon on ALL fragrances you will find comments like "fake, this is not original. it does not last long". Is there any truth about that or just disappointed customers thinking it's not original but it actually is? //Edit: Answered at 33:00 thanks. :)

Hi, Antonio. You may want to add , searching and finding eventually the vintage original fragrance from the manufacturer from the 1980s , like the original Aramis men's fragrances from the 80s , Estee Lauder from the 1980s when they were stilll allowed to put in ingredients that are banned today like oakmoss, civet musk, ambergris. And also , you might like to mention , snagging a bottle labeled as store demonstration bottle from the manufacturer without the fancy box , just plain , cardboard box but original demonstration bottle meant for department store floor testing may have a stronger concentration than those you eventually buy in retail. I have personally bought demo bottles and they do smell better. The reasons you may all guessed it already. Thank you for reading.

One thing I would like you to cover that I didn't see on this video is imperfections. This is very common with clothing. For example, I was at a store called Ollie's, and they had Levi's for $15. They're all authentic, but there's something imperfect about them. They didn't pass quality inspection. The ones I bought, the only thing wrong with them is that the red tab doesn't say Levi's and it only has the registered trademark symbol on it. Sometimes it can be a misplaced piece of stitching, the color is off somewhere on it, the size is marked wrong, etc. Does this apply to fragrances also?
Yes it does, with packaging. You can find designer and even niche brands in a Ross or TJ Maxx heavily discounted because the boxes have dents, crumpled corners, or scratches. But the bottle inside and the juice is immaculate. I found a bottle of Creed Green Irish Tweed and Memo Paris African Leather at a local Ross last year. Boxes were dented but bottles were mint condition, and they smelled exactly as my current bottles.
What a lesson.... thanks! You clarified so much for me. I did want to ask though about purchasing fragrances from online sites in the Russian Federation... some of the prices seem unbelievably low, and am thinking they're probably fake! Your thoughts....
You can handle colognes like outfits. You like to choose from a collection dependig on the mood, event and weather. With colognes it is the same. If you are the type to wear the same outfit over and over again, stick to the same strategy with colognes.
I’ve had no problems buying on eBay. Just find a seller who specializes in cosmetics and/or fragrances, with over 10k feedbacks, and at least a 98% positive rating. With that many happy customers, that person is not selling fakes.

What a lesson.... thanks! You clarified so much for me. I did want to ask though about purchasing fragrances from online sites in the Russian Federation... some of the prices seem unbelievably low, and am thinking they're probably fake! Your thoughts....
I am buying Club de Nuit intense. Cheapest price but the best smelling Colone

Hi i bought Salvatore fergamo by fergamo black , first use it was long last. Second day i just cant feel the smell. Is it a coppy ?
Do you have a top 5 fragrance list?
You can handle colognes like outfits. You like to choose from a collection dependig on the mood, event and weather. With colognes it is the same. If you are the type to wear the same outfit over and over again, stick to the same strategy with colognes.
agreed!
I found some really good deals on fragrances at Dillards and Kohls as well.

Does Shoptagr work for 9mm?
I’ve had no problems buying on eBay. Just find a seller who specializes in cosmetics and/or fragrances, with over 10k feedbacks, and at least a 98% positive rating. With that many happy customers, that person is not selling fakes.
