  • Today is June 1st, 2020, Monday, the very first day the UK Government eased the COVED-19 lockdown. It is 8:30 AM and it is very sunny and the temperature is about 14 Celsius.
I approached Sheffield from the North, via M1 and A61. The traffic was a lot heavier than last week.
I hope you will enjoy my video. Your suggestion is welcome. If you do not want to miss my upcoming videos, please click here to "subscribe" th-cam.com/users/mayancho?sub_c...

Wow, so much change, I was born and brought up in Sheffield, leaving in 1969 aged 15 to a small pit village Creswell and not wanting to work down the pit, I joined the army the same year, I can hardly recognise the route taken, so much change, not always for the better, I long to return to look around places I knew well but from the look of this video all i would achieve is getting lost, far too much has changed, which somewhat saddens me.

I left Sheffield in 1952. I enjoyed the video very much, but did not recognize anything except the Sheffield Wednesday sign. Even the external part of the ground has changed. Everything is so clean and affluent looking. Thank you for updating me.

Thank you for my trip down memory lane. Raised in Grenoside. You passed my old haunts Norfolk Arms and New Red Lion!! Passed the top of my road (Hill Top Road) and of course Hillsborough!! Travelled Penistone Road 5 days a week from Sept 1967 to June 1969. But OMG the city has changed completely. Only recognised a few places!!

@@mayancho21 Hi. My test is end of this month. I have an instructor but can not cover all 9 routs. By watching these videos, I can replay and watch again until get to know all road markings, signs and tricky junctions. Videos are really helpful for me as reduce my stress if you could share some in these routs by end of June. Thank you

@@mayancho21 I don’t know name of routs as I am new in Sheffield. I found countryside roads with 50 m/h easy and quite to drive. But routs with more junctions, one way, no entry, etc are tricky for me.

I wish the outskirts of Nottingham were as clean as Sheffield. 26:58 some jet washing of pavements on the edge of the city centre and a council litter collector with his barrow shortly after. Don't see that on the edge of the city centre in Nottingham anymore.

@@mayancho21 Well - Sheffield boomed in the indrustrial times, so there is no medieval or post medieval architecture like in many other english towns. There was the sheffield blitz which destroyed some older houses. There is some great victorian architecture but is mixed with ugly post war buldings and not much better looking new ones.
