Clean the filters with food grade citric acid. Cleans calcium scale & disinfects. Bleach just rots the paper. Put filters in a dish pan with citric acid, fill to cover with water, leave 20-30 minutes, rinse. That's it.
I use citric acid. It works well if you have hard water. Use a small bucket so you can use less citric acid. I let the filter soak for maybe an hour. I do not wring it out. Extends the life of the filter somewhat and improves wicking. Eventually the interior fabric of the wick will corrode so you still have to replace them, but it works better.

Is it really sustainable? Ive ultrasonic types and I want to buy Vornado kind of eva one. But I need to order from Amazon. Filters are also not availeble in my country. So the replacement in every couple of month sounds like a lot of cost for me. How long lasting If I clear regularly. Are the filters loosing its features after every wash? If so how long it takes to replace it with the new one? Thank you for the content

Humidifer filters are cheap?. What planet do ya live on? A Superwick model 1043 averages about $25 (2023), Why I am looking here, see if they can be cleaned and reconditioned. You rinse with water between each step (diluted bleach and 2nd step white vingar for the calcium removal) should be no issues. I would advice wearing dishwashing rubber gloves though. I am anxious to try this.
I like how many people are complaining in the comments saying it's bad for your health and toxic. If you wash something with diluted bleach and rinse it all off to the point where there is no bleach left then wash with vinegar and rinse clean your not really mixing bleach with vinegar plus after a good rinse there's basically nothing left in the filter besides water and after you run so much water through the filter you really think it's going to be spewing mustard gas out your humidifier. Some people need to give their head a shake
i did not show it working because most of people will not wait to watch it . the got the idea in go out the video but it working normally and soak up water too . i do that in my humidifier and i dont have any problem too . it is working great

the filter got some tear because i squeeze it and i said in the video dont do like that . you have to listen barfly before to add comment . the vinegar not (vinager ) same as you wrote . Vinegar is not toxic my friend . thank you for watching

Vinegar does not kill bacteria and does not remove mold, but bleach does. Do you know why I use bleach? Please watch the video carefully. thank you

It can be replaced with a new one after 3 or 4 times of cleaning, This depends on your care of the filter while cleaning it. thank you
