It's kind of hilarious to see this played on a telecaster, amazing job though. Took me forever to get fcpremix and mouths like sidewinder missiles down but I really want to take a crack at this too. Wish there were accurate free tabs available so I wasn't having to slow down covers to figure out how to play certain sections. Going to look into that program you mentioned to someone else and see if it's on thepiratebay or something since it seems like reaper doesn't do as good of a job being used for the purpose of learning new things
You could maybe try downloading it from the link in this video: th-cam.com/video/u0wxlALvgGk/w-d-xo.html I don't know if it works but it's maybe worth a shot.
@@ninjutsuaudio I managed to get it off the pirate bay in about 5 minutes, that site looked sketchy so I avoided it lol. I really appreciate the info, this should definitely help!
Man this was SPOT ON!! I have so many questions on how you did this lol but I'll just try and go quickly How did you manage to get just the perfect distortion for the song and also record it perfectly? I've been playing guitar now for 2 years and I've just started learning this song not too long ago, but with my current equipment (like, extremely budget-friendly equipment lol, talking about an off-brand strat and a $90 hiwatt amp and that's it) still haven't managed to get anywhere near this tone, and not to even talk about recording it! And lastly, where did you learn this song and others from fall of troy? I've tried to learn them both from online tabs and by watching Thomas' videos playing these, but I'm way off on some parts and maybe you could help me with it! I know there are official tabs for Doppelgänger and Manipulator but i'm broke af to buy neither of them :( If you read the whole thing thanks man! I'll say it again, this was spot on and made me feel so inspired by just watching it!!
Thanks so much! I use an axe fx 2 for all my tones. If I remember right, I was using a preset that was based off of a Marshall plexi. Recording is as simple as plugging my axe fx into my computer via USB and downloading the drivers from their website, but I also have another audio interface I use a lot for recording (but it's not necessary at all and doesn't affect the tone.) Your best bet on a budget, especially if you wanna record would probably be to get an audio interface with just one input (like a focusrite Scarlett solo or anything really). You can usually get a good discount if you buy used off of eBay. Read reviews and pay attention to what people say about how well the drivers work and how low latency they are to help you decide. Then you can simply plug your guitar into the interface, which plugs into your computer, then download the usb drivers and you should be set for recording guitars. As for tones, try searching TH-cam for how to get a great rock/metal guitar tone for free and your bound to find something good. One of my favorite channels that does tone demos and tutorials is sonic drive studio. I hope that made sense, you may have to do some research but if you have any questions, let me know. As for learning the songs by ear, I use a program called riffstation. It was free, but I'm not entirely sure it's available anymore. It allows you to change the tempo of a song, isolate the left/right channel, apply a filter that somewhat isolates the guitar in a song, and more. The best tips to learning by ear I can give are slow the song down (youtube has a slow playback feature but it's low quality), isolate the left or right channel, and for learning chords, find the root note then start adding intervals until you find the right ones.
I got it off of amazon. www.amazon.com/OriPure-Strong-Humbucker-Pickups-Alnico/dp/B07KM11DMX/ref=sr_1_2?crid=2EJW78TDUFSL8&dchild=1&keywords=oripure+humbucker&qid=1635815716&sprefix=oripure%2Caps%2C83&sr=8-2
yo man you play this damn near perfect you have a great ear it shows in your playing
You play some of the runs cleaner than Thomas does nowadays tbh 😶 nice job dude
Thanks man!
I second that
Thomas was never a "clean" player in the first place. In fact, he kind of prides himself on his "idgaf just have fun with it dude" way of playing lol
9 months old, but dude, you played it cleaner than he did on the record :0

Not bad for a 1st take! you learn this from Thomas' playthrough of it on Twitch?
Thanks! Not entirely, but I did reference that for some figuring out some parts.
