Love the old MACKS. May we get to go back to an all mechanical drive train someday. Twinsticks as well. Shifting a true MACK drivetrain you gotta have a slow hand to be fast and smooth.
@@mrfanman2u they are close but cylinders 3 and 8 on the 7.3/ 2 and 8 on mack e9 are swapped in the firing order. but everything else is identical. but I can definitely hear similarities between this engine and my 7.3 powerstroke. its easier to hear with an obs mechanical fuel pump one vs the newer superduty engine which is a bit quieter.
I love my Detroit's, grown up around them on boats and just love the sound. But these Mack v8's are so unique in sound and are fucking awesome as well. I love to put one in a boat. Shame they never marinised any. These would have been great tug boat or trawler motors with there torque.
I had wondered for a while if it was the exhaust pipes or manifolds that gave the e9 v8 that sound, but I recently read it's the firing order that gives the Mack V8 that unique sound
You are correct. I had two 7.3 PSDs and they sounded close to this. I had the privilege to ride in an E9 powered Superliner years ago that was set at about 700 hp or so. You could really feel the power of that thumper.
I remember a pokuru farms Mack carting maize silage from Tauranga when I was on the chopper for bill webb contracting about 2005. Is this the same truck?
Muy buen video es un cabezón MACK lo mejor yo conocí unos B.61 sacando madera arroz por unos caminos. ..y este video en que lugar del mundo es muy lindo hay un río a un lado carretera

Reminds me of a 7.3 power stroke lol. They both have that similar chopping sound when accelerating lol.
Or just a ohv v8 with a fixed vane turbo
why is that lol? u are pretty easy to amuse, huh?
Im pretty sure the 7.3 and the E9 have the same firing order, probably contributing to the noise similarity.

@@karldoughty7981he's not wrong cause the mack and scania v8s are related. Think for some years they shared the same block.
