Leave it as it is. That’s its history and, without history, a classic’s more or less just an old car. You could even make a virtue of it being LHD by taking it on European road trips.
Keep as is! Stock doesn’t mean boring. I personally own a MK1 MGF 1995 with 46,000km original and wanted to modify it, but after a few months of ownership, it became evident that it was a much better option to keep it as stock as possible…
Original all the way.
I had the same adventure last year to the Netherlands to buy a 1979 Opel Kadett C. I'm keeping mine left hand drive, I feel it adds to uniqueness of the car. You might want to get another Fiesta for your modifications and keep this Standard, You might struggle to find another in this condition. LHD are getting popular in UK because of the shortage of Classic cars here. Best fun Investment you can have.
That really is a lovely little Fiesta, I have an extensive collection of 70s and 80s Ford's and I really would be very proud to have that car in my collection. If ever you decide to sell it I will pay you more than anyone else for it that's for sure!!!
Nice attention to detail with correct era plates. I'd love to know where you got them made - and the quick ageing process! Keep it original - more fun to be had making memories on trips in old cars than changing the wheels and a paint job!
Love it, great purchase, the “S” is very rare. Keep it original, you can add options not fitted at the factory, for example the head restraints and it will still be original. All it basically needs is to give the engine bay a good wash!!
Please, please keep it LHD
To assist, I worked for Ford of Europe, the “S” as an option had the Ghia alloy wheels.
Pay no attention to the “experts”…
Thank you. I'm confident the wheels were fitted from new, as per the car's ID tag.
Enjoy it as it is. Don't even change the wheels. LHD doesn't matter at all. I live in Spain. I have 3 cars (between 33 years old and 88 years old). 2 are RHD and 1 LHD. I swap beteen both sides without any problem at all. I love your little Fiesta.
Keep it as is - it is such a little gem!
Drive it and enjoy it. It doesn't need anything else.
Congratulations! Is a beautiful example, do whatever you want with it, it's yours, doesn't matter what others think, enjoy it as you want.
Very nice. My grandma had one of these. I remember it had headrests and the color was a white grayish one.
I’d just give it some protection from rust. I mean… just look at the car, even the headlining looks amazing and hasn’t sagged. I’m actually really impressed by this little car ❤
Keep as it is 👍🏻
What a lovely original Fiesta looks in amazing condition leave it as it is, not many nice 1.1S Fiestas about.
It's a 10-footer, but I do love it!
Do not change one thing on this lovely car!!
Just looks great this early Mk 1 fiesta S keep it original
That's the plan!
I would leave it as is, but you HAVE to lose those front seat covers🤢
I was just protecting the seats and forgot to take them off. The seats need re-stuffing!
Tremendous video, id keep it standard . But a right hand drive conversion would be really interesting and would create a lot of interest as it would give hope to others looking for an old 70s car in Europe are USA ect
They are only original once. Give it excellent maintenance but keep it as it is.
Leave it alone, just maintain and use.
My dad had a 1978 1.1S in signal yellow, stunning wee car. My dad’s car had the exact same seats apart from his had head rests on the front , also his had a radio cassette with the aerial on the roof. As others have said it’s the wrong wheels.
@@scotiajinker8392 Wheels are correct, Ford fitted the Ghia wheels when an “S” was optioned from the factory with alloy wheels.
For this particular car, less is more it is a low mileage unicorn and long may it last!
Leave it, Maurice! Leave it, leave it! 😁👍
It would be cool to compare it to the Ford Festiva!
I have a Mk2 Ford Fiesta S and its pretty stock with the exception of the cherry bomb exhaust (it was like this when I bought it). I'm going to remove it as I like my cars to be stock.
Nice car by the way. There's a LHD Ford Fiesta Mk.1 S for sale in a lovely metallic blue colour.
It's a lovely example, but I would be tempted to switch it to RHD, but that's it.
Can you share a link of the site you bought it through? Curious to see what other cars cost in France.
We found the car through leboncoin.fr - NOT sponsored ;)
@@ClassicsWorldUK Great, thank you! Out of interest, what made you choose France? I was wondering if Spain or Germany might be as good...
J'ai une petite collection de Fiesta Mk1 et Mk2, je n'ai pas de 1.1S, j'ai raté l'annonce sinon elle ne serait jamais sortie de France. Profite bien c'est une jolie voiture
Thank you. It will return for holidays!

The government website has been out of date for ages and they haven’t updated it I nearly done the same thing 😮
My mate had a TNT plate on his Capri untill he sold it several years ago.
Yes, please leave it as it is.
Keep it’s character don’t turn it in to a shiny Ford parts bin everyone’s doing it 🤮
Same question as before. How did you get French insurance and registration done so quickly in order to drive it back to the UK? Merci d’avance.
All managed for me by a native who's a good friend. He was able to do everything online.
Shame about the reversing light not being in the Center
Early French spec. There is no provision in the rear panel for it.
I would love to know if anyone has any experience with importing a JDM Kei car, and just how difficult it actually was.
Keep it original 17000 mile where would you find another
What ever you do, dont modify it at all, even the wheels, leave it just as it left the factory, RS4 spokes are soooooooo over done, just enjoy its original character!
If you fit new wheels it will be just like all the other Fiestas that have big wheels. Boring.
I have a beautiful mk1 xr2 if you want to have a deal? An "S" is the only model Fiesta I don't have? I have a mk4 & a mk5 Cortina "S" and a 3.0 Capri "S" and a 2.0 Capri "S" but not a Fiesta? I have 3 beautiful unmolested Xr2 mk1's and would love to do a deal with you?
👍👍
What a faff around that is! Gone are the days where you just slapped on some temporary Irish plates & took it for an MOT & bobs your uncle. All this nonsense of extra paperwork is just plain irritating.
Sadly the DVLA make you jump through a few hoops these days...
@@ClassicsWorldUK far too many for my liking & what’s the deal with insurance too.
You used to be able to just ring up your insurance & get a 14 day cover letter which allowed entry in the UK then you could deal with the MOT & hey presto.
If you were perceptive enough to hear the passion and interest of this chap, you would have realised that nothing worth having comes easy. Plus he has the knowledge that will stand him in good stead for future continental adventures. Shame you seem always to whinge and seek the easy way out.
@@HIOP0 I love this channel. I am simply complaining about the process. I have a lot of respect for what he has done & wish him all the best.
