- A viewer commented that an acquaintance who is in her circle of friends really insulted her at a recent wedding they all attended, and she can't move on from it. I think it is the embarrassment more than anything that is getting to you. So, you have to act normal again, like you did before the incident. If your friends see that you have moved past this, they will start acting the same again and will stop looking at you strangely. And as far as the person who insulted you...give her your big fat fake smile and say nothing other than "hi" and "bye" and move on. Just because you share the same friends doesn't mean you have to be buddy-buddy. In fact I would stay as far away from her as you can.

Omg i got same situation
i was insulted at someone's wedding. i told my cousin that i took a former dress my mom had - my mom is very stylish, and cut the sleeves, and the skirt and no one could tell the difference, i was a college student on a tight budget. my ' friend' was in the wedding party and at the receiving line, she said outloud, ' you look really great in your mom's old dress', i don't know if people cared b/c i was complimented at the wedding for my outfit, her bridesmaids dress was from the bridesmaids house of hell, it was so ugly that she was ashamed to wear it. the next day, at a family gathering, she used that as an opportunity to be the center of attention, bc she announced her pregnancy at the gathering and it hurt the bride bc it was her weekend. people never forgot that b/c she wasn't welcomed in the bride's house after that. it turned out later on, no one liked my cousin, in fact today, even though it's 25 years later, no one particularly cares for her, she's just an insecure braggart who has so much hatred in herself b/c she's illigetimate and that was a sin in the 1960s and was from a mixed affair. when i see her now, i'm just polite and move on, i have no time for people like that.
Pls someone explain- why you have to act normal and put up with someone who insulted you? « You know you’re not friends « , but ehh pretend then?
How do you process the humiliation and overcome it just by pretending nothing happened? You have to react somehow, to let it go.. otherwise it can eat you up and will always pop up in the moments when you’re sad, in unlikely circumstances, in sensitive situations, etc
What if it happens again and again and she acts like nothing happened
what if this whole thing happened in front of 300 people in an auditorium in your workplace and everyone you see daily at work (and even some you don't) know how you messed up, and will probably remember it because it was pretty bad? How can you dilute everyone that you work with daily when everyones eyes who matter were watching you? Asking for a friend that isn't me obvs.
This recently happened to me at a school rehearsal 😳😳

enroll in martial arts, and goes to
gun range, Now i see fear in their eyes...
To the younger generation, older people still do that at work or social gatherings so it never goes away. I'm in my 50's and i just got humiliated at work by a co-worker and she is not young either.

I was in a presentation in 8th grade and then my partner randomly pansed
me which left me in my underwear! The whole class laughed at me, but every presentation had to be recorded, and it didn’t look good😅
Dear Marie. I must respectfully differ from some of your message. When I was treated so poorly by a woman I knew in front of others. SHE'S A SECRET GOSSIP. BACK-STABBED, TWOFACED UGLY COW. I bided my time and confronted her privately after I did her a favor and then drove her home. We settled in on her porch for a drink and to talk. When I confronted her she went all "Well, I THOUGHT 'We' were SIMPATICO! I GUESS WE'RE NOT." As she flew to her feet verbally STABBING AWAY and asking me if something she'd STORED FOR ME (Important financial and legal paperwork) WAS MINE, mumbling her SONS MIGHT MISTAKENLY PITCH IT ALL OUT! Not letting her threaten me, I replied, "How's about I just take it now?" "NO, NO! That's o.k." she says. And I left soon after. You see Marie, I was divorcing from a truly terrifyingly wicked abuser. I HAD NO ONE TO HELP ME. NOT EVEN LEGAL AID! NOT EVEN THE WOMEN'S SHELTER. I WAS SUPPOSED TO HAVE ASSETS. ASSET HE (THE ABUSER) HAD TAKEN CONTROL OF... She knew ALL my vulnerabilities and exploited my isolation and terror. I TRULY HATE HER NOW. HER LACK OF EITHER MERCY OR KINDNESS, AND PRAY EVERYTHING SHE DID AND GOSSIPS AND USED ME FOR FLIES BACK TO REST IN HER LAP LIKE A DYING VULTURES LAST BREATH. WHEW! LOL! She's a sick beastie. Knew all of my sorrow and USED AND TOOK AND LIED AND GOSSIPED AND BETRAYED AND EXPLOITED ME. I will NEVER FORGET OR FORGIVE. HELL IS HER FUTURE. AND ID TELL HER. BUT I CUT HER OFF. So....someday I will hear of her going down to her reward and I won't feel a thing. SORRY but i don't think I could say "Hi!-Bye!" (in a heartbeat I'd want to PUNCH her in her flat, fat ugly face.) But. I am a Christian Lady. Whom though I think this stuff and despised this AWFUL woman I WILL NEVER EXACT VENGEANCE. GOD GETS THE RIGHTS TO THAT.
Same thing has happened to me week ago. Still I couldn't get over it. I lost happiness. I'm a teacher and out school head lady humiliated me front of my student's parents. She was telling I'm not suitable for this profession. Because I'm quiet. I teach well and students had good results but she measured my behaviour not teaching ability. Parents were laughing. She want put me down. She told find another job. You are not suitable for a teacher. Parents were laughing. I'm so sad. I lost my confidence. Is there anybody who can listen to my issue. I haven't any trustworthy friend to tell.

My so called friend poured a drink over my head on new year's Eve in front of a crowd of people... He's really a peace of shit he's been in and out of prison and juvenile delinquents homes since he was a 16 year old he's not the nicest person in the world. But thinks he's the shit I hate him.
My sisters and I disagreed on something then they turned to me saying i am antisocial, nobody can get along with me and nobody will ever like me and all. I am a quiet person, not a people pleaser and i am okay with myself. i know a lot of people who like me much more than my sisters who talk ad gossip a lot. I said they judge me and they said its not judging, its called opinion and i should accept that i am an unlikable person . they have hurt me so much growing up i have thought of suicide many times . How should i take this?
DIY, I know they are your sisters, but you have to distance yourself, and when you do, they actually might realize what they have done..but probably not. And when I say distance, I don't mean cut off contact. You can be around them for family functions, have brief phone conversations, but when the conversation starts turning negative or catty, get out.

I am very upset and I really don't know what to do. I am a high school student. I don't have the best grades... and it happens many times that profesors humiliates me in front of the class. It happened today at history because I didn't know some things very well. I have studied really hard, but I just couldn't remembered anything. And then the professor hummiliated me many times and all the class laughed at me. I am not very shy person and I can get angry easily. And when someone humiliates me like that I don't feel just embarassed, but it hurt me very much. I just want to go away and cry. Why so many people find me good to humiliate me? It makes me feel like I am the most stupid and insignificant person in the world and I can't let this go... It really hurts.
Try being moreinsulted and humiliated for YEARS AND YEARS AND CRIMINAL ACTS AGAINGST ME AND NOT A DAMN THING WAS DONE TO HELP ME.

A quick question: What if your friend entertained a guy you were with who told her that when they first saw the both of you guys, he like her first but approached you and you weren’t aware of this until later, then the friend keeps throwing pieces of the conversation they had to your face after you kicked the boy to the curve. Would You consider that deliberate or just a mishap?
Someone started insulting me everyday via social media. I haven't responded yet, It's just annoying getting all these messages from a furious person.
All I want is this person out of my life. This person has lied to me several times before and the true colours are now showed.

a cousin of mine was making fun of my sister bc of her lopsided hair curlers and was really going on and on, she stopped when our grandmother and said, 'why don't you just shut up' in front of everyone and the cousin stopped. my late grandmother really did not care for my cousin - she's humiliating my sister in front of ppl and she got a taste of her own medicine, she was humilated in front of other people by our grandmother - karma's a bitch

It's ALL in the family. Make sure any interest you might have for someone does NOT contact your family if they are invested in making you look like a fool. Unbelievable how this keeps happening. I will never be able to get on top of the last one if the next one is exactly the same! I refuse to start being a bitch to get rid of the next narc! This time it has completely destroyed my life and sense of self.

I believe you would only ignore this type of behavior if you were in a workplace situation and couldn’t actually leave. Even then, you would need to say something if it continued. This can be done in a professional manner in a private conversation. If it’s family, you can choose not to interact.
If humiliation knew manners it would have knocked on the door

Lee, distance yourself from these people. Obviously, they are jealous of you in some way, because otherwise, there would be no motivation for them to try and tear you down like they are. You don't need friends like these! I know it takes time, but you will make new ones.

there’s a girl in an older year to me who doesn’t like anyone in the year below and i just wanted to be friendly with her so i messaged her and she clearly did want it and then kept saying she hated me and then said i reminded her of a toxic person who she just dropped and she didn’t want to talk to me so i backed off and stopped messaging her anyway after that the next day i followed someone who was in my suggested and it turns out she was her online friend and she made a massive thing about it and put it on her story calling me really weird and sad and i’m already going through a lot at home and my mental state isn’t the best and this has really put me down and idk how to get over it

So I was humiliated on Facebook because of my political views I messaged a girl to explain why I thought they way I did she screenshot all the messages and posted the messaged it’s public anyone can see it I said nasty things so did she . I tried to apologize she said she wouldn’t accept it and screenshot those messages and put it public and now people are sharing it and we have mutual friends she encouraged her friend to share it to other pages and now it’s public and people are shaming me .
What should I do ? Please help My husband doesn’t know about it but he will soon know because it’s public I know he’ll get really mad at me because he knows her parents he dated her for two weeks should I tell him or should I just let him see for himself?

Bett, you have to ask yourself if you want to date someone who is embarrassed to be seen with you. I get it, maybe he doesn't want his friends to know just yet, because possibly they don't have girlfriends...whatever the reason, I wouldn't put up with it too much longer.
