For people wondering why their hammer is only doing 30-40k, + melee skills is massive for HOTG. A L20 HOTG does 2654% damage. A L26 HOTG does 4148% damage. That's almost double. A L32 one with two 2Handers would do 6485% damage. He also has a bunch of ignite/ailment magnitude on jewels.
With some insane weapon and if you take all the area from the tree stampede actually clears the screen well. But yeah build is kinda bad in general for clearing cos too hard to get to work. And also i personally think that this game is extremely aggressive towards melee. So many mobs make deadly explosions around them
@@henrygotzelich7690 I just hated the slight delay with Stampede as your Toon took off (Like a runner - lol). Also many times he'd run off in a direction you didn't want. With Totem I just walk placing Totems as I go and hardly ever stop unless it's a Boss.

I was interested in how it compares to a bleed setup because you lose 25% of the damage you don't convert with avatar of fire (I assume you can't since I haven't seen other forms of it and the more I search the worse it is, I've seen that it no longer scales additively so it won't ever be 100% if it doesn't say 100%) In the atlas tree and for around 50 nodes (with some weird pathing, not accounting Hulking Form because Maxroll are liars and not accounting stuff that supports both) we have : for ignite : for bleed : 116% inc fire (with inc to elem dmg) 32% inc damage against bleeding enemies (good for a combo with sunder but I won't calculate it) 59% inc inginte magnitude 85% inc bleed magnitude 15% inc duration 20% inc duration 27% pen 10% faster bleed with support gems we have an optimum setup of : for fire: for bleed : fist of war (20% more generic dmg) same primal armament (25% more elemental dmg) heavy swing (35% more Melee Physical Damage) eternal flame (100% inc ignite duration) butality (35% more Physical Damage) searing flame (25% less hit dmg and 75% more ignite magnitude) deep cuts (literally the same but for bleed) close combat (25% more generic dmg) same lets say we do 1000 dmg against a 0% res mob (I don't know where the reduced hit is calculated so I will put it after conversion) with our ignite setup (and 25% gone) we have : 1000 - 25/100x1000 = 750 750 - 25/100x750 = 562.5 562.5 x 11.16(inc) x 1.875(more) = 11,759.85 hit that penetrates 27% for a total of 14,935 on a 4s base we have 3,733.75 dps constantly for 8.6s to get 32,110.25 from what I've seen 100% ignite magnitude roughly doubles the damage but idk how it scales with itself, either way there is 36% more bleed magnitude available on the tree so I won't bother our bleed setup has(with max armor break): 1000 - 25/100x1000 = 750 750 x 1(no inc) x2.73(more) = 2,047.5 even with the 54% inc from pathing to "Lasting Trauma" its only 3,153.15, if aggravate its 6,306.3 less than half it loses on bleed inc big time so I won't even bother to calculate it anymore I did not think it would be so much worse, please correct me
idk about which is better, however with bleed setup i didn't see bosses melting that fast. But maybe there are some footages. With bleed best i saw was Alk stuff, but numerically it was worse on bosses (im not talking about map bosses, since there is no difference between bleeds and ignites, i feel like every warrior's build based on HotG basically one shots them one way or another)
I am having a blast with your builds and I already followed quite a few,including the manabond hierophant in POE 1. I have a noob question though,in my 2 slotted weapon, should I use 2x 30% increased elemental damage for attacks runes or 2x 15 spirit runes in order to be able to use berserk (30% attack damage at 30 rage) ?
@@Thera_incBleed might be good later. Right now there’s not really enough support for it. There’s no bleed resistance stat sure, but that also means that’s something that’s factored in on how bleed is balanced. The fact that fire resistance exists makes it a vector we players can scale. You can’t really reduce enemy defences against bleed as even so there’s less options for you to try if the damage numbers seem low. Chaos dot kinda has similar issues as bleed but a little less because Chaos has tools like despair, poison etc.
Vaal Foundry is a PITA. Glad you played it and carried through completing it. Good build! Decided to roll an ignite warrior jusr for shits and giggles and basically ended up how you did with some dif nodes. Inspiring! I went warbringer for turtle charm tho
On dualwielding setup, I've done some testing and it seems to be detrimental for ignite. Ignite of both weapons is not combined, so you end up just cutting your ignite damage by 30%...
@@obsidiansnows7608 That's nice an all but it at best brings you back to what you'd just twohanding 1 weapon. If you're going for raw burst damage DW is perfect but for ignite, just keep a shield.
@@coryjackson4439 I assume you're talking about base damage of hotg. +6 takes you from 25 to 31, your base damage went from 3851% to 6019%, but then you apply 30% less damage and you're left with 4213%. That's 9% more damage. If you have +5 you end up doing same damage and less with lower +levels. You might think "it's a small boost but it's still more damage", there's a thing called opportunity cost. Having so many +levels fucks manacost, forcing Blood Magic, that's 2 passive points. Good twohanders with +6 levels cost a lot and you need TWO of them. The two passive points in themselves could potentially compensate for the damage difference, but then there's the money spent on the second twohander that could've went into everything else, like better jewels. Oh and you get to keep a shield, like the one that gives massive cooldown reduction so you can hotg and shield charge more often. Ergo, dual wielding is detrimental if you're building for ignite.

Whats the dps needed on the weapon, im only getting about 40k ignite dps on the tooltip with a 600 phys dps weapon. With +3. I feel like im missing somthin, Once I get past t10 It takes a few drops of the hammer to kill the bosses.
There is no such thing on "dps needed on weap". Gimmics involve weap swap with adequate passive tree set, dual 2h maces with +melee skills on both and nice to have increased elemental damage since is not handicapped while dual wielding, if possible as highest phys dmg as well, speed is irrelevant. Trying your build and so far melting bosses, however the clearing for Mobs is not so effective, I see on your planner you dont have devistate on your Stampede setup however you mention you use stampede combo with armour explosion? Do you have any update on this build?

That seems like a POE1 mentality where you'd get 1000% increase so 50 increase was small. 4 stat jewels are super strong, notice how rage on hit is one mod but also one whole tree node. Goes for almost every line.
do you know if weapon swap snapshots before the hit goes through? if so you could put curse on weapon set 1 only to minimize the weakened defense window. there are also some support gems that speed up curse, usually hits exactly 0.1-.2s before hammer even without as long you insta chain cast. also yeah, what are the mana costs?? only got one +6 weapon and can hardly cast it anymore...with the second one my character is instant bricked. hope GGG flattens those mana costs, especially for warrior skills.
He did go over it on the video, the solution is Blood Magic - no mana problems, feels good. Hence the segment of why using flask when casting expensive hammer.
@@ConnerConverse Hey Connor I'm a bit confused about this 7:03 I'm also using similar weapons for my dual-wield set and that HotG DPS box doesn't really change when I swap, but the advanced dmg tooltip for HotG also shows "main hand dmg" and "off hand dmg" separately. And then there's an "average damage per use". How exactly we calculate dualwield damage for HotG?
You gotta grab all the AoE nodes on your clear weapon set passive tree and it helps enormously. There’s like over 100% inc AoE on the tree all nearby. You can cheaply annoint a few 30% aoe passives as well.

I used the Stampede +armour explosion tech too but after the nerf but I switched to Boneshatter + armour explosion. Sure, the armour explosion can’t self chain, but the Bone Shatter Shockwave can break armour and the armour explosion can prime more stuns so it’s AoE is okay and you don’t need to be stuck on unmovable mobs with stampede. Leap slam or shield charge into a pack and blow it up with a single tap
hello , first thank for this build i'm doing fine with it but itemization is hard , also i feel like stampede is missing a lot i got 82% chance to hit, so was thinking if taking resolute technique on the tree is good enough or a mistake?
I've recently switched to taking the 4 strength nodes out of warrior start (toward the Burning Strikes/Blood Rush intersection) instead of the 6 small damage/aoe nodes around Brutal. I'm not really sure if it's worth or not since you do miss out on Hulking Form value and it's a pretty big chunk of damage but the rate on a per passive basis is just not that impressive and the build isn't really struggling with damage right now.

Conner, i already follow your build since the beginning, which one do you prefer? Two handed mace with +6 melee all skills or +5 skills but better at add x to x physical dmg? when i use +5 skills my hotg drop 3k dmg, 51k to 48k. I dont feel any difference at all.
In a pinnacle boss fight you will probably not have very much rage, only the amount Raging Cry support on Infernal Cry provides. But every bit helps. During you often reach max rage because of those couple 1 rage on hit passive nodes helping sustain the rage stacks.
Polcirkeln and Herald of Ice causing the same off screen chain explosion effect Armour Explosion was causing. Surely this means this "bug" will be fixed with a new line of text right? 🤣
with the morior invictus chest piece, how are you supposed to equip the 5th socket gem slot, because from what im seeing the standard item comes with 4 slots, so if you corrupt it for the 5th are you able to socket an additional gem into it?
I wonder, can you swapp back to your other weapon set after the hammer dropped or do you need to stay on your dual wield hammer until the dot is over or the enemy dead?

Do you still one shot bosses with really high fire resist? I saw a diff vid of a guy with a really similar build and his hammer was doing like no dmg against a boss with high fire res.
Unfortunately melee slams feel very slow and clunky for the amount of AoE and/or damage they produce. You've pretty much squized out almost everything out of this archetype. And this is still way less damage than monks and stormweavers. And tankiness doesn't matter yet again cuz people blow up screens, again... I hope it gets fixed before release, otherwise we get a repeat of PoE, which feels kinda stale already.
@@ConnerConverse I've been using Overwhelming Presence with Crushing Impacts and tons of AOE on the passive tree. The clear is laughably good again with the increased AOE nodes
They're a swap weapon button so guessing it's that... I guess that would be a personal choice, I choose to live in danger with the auto swapping for hammers and sometimes dying because of it.
Stampede can easily be made much smother with added ignore of body blocking and/or increased skill speed. There's literally no reason for this skill to have that slow base attack speed
Ignite chance is affected by the size of the hit, so a big fire hit can ignite, and you can increase that chance with investment. Big phys hits however cannot inherently cause bleeding unless you specifically invest in bleed chance, and there aren't that many ways of getting bleed chance afaik.
I'm actually over here watching this video like 5x over trying to figure that out as well, mine also only does 30k but I'm only level 84 I think it might be the jewels he has socketed

I respec to this and doing insane dmg, for the ppl, if you want do clear faster just spec some point into area dmg size with your weapon/shield slot, its so much more enjoyable. And i use the onslought helmet for more attack speed. Only issue that i have, ill have more dmg income bc of lower armor.
You need to first corrupt your t15 waystone to a t16 with vaal orb, then find a spot on your atlas that has both +1 level to all monsters and corruption (corruption also increases the level of mobs on your map by 1 level)
You can set it so when your press hammer it auto switches to the weapon set that it’s allocated to. Along with the weapon set nodes he has allocated in the passive tree for weapon set 2.
@@spunkj yeah i just wanted to know if swapping right to shield after casting hammer would apply the damage of the mace-shield instead of the mace-mace. Do we need the hammer to hit before swapping back to shield or we could do it right after casting
@@yopuhcak it’s instant. If you have the abilities and passive set to the correct weapon set, it instantly switches automatically to the ability you press. You’ll have to try it yourself to see. It’s actually awesome.
@@jeanluclechat-g4l when you open up your skills menu to the right of the level of the skill you press the little arrow. At the bottom right of the tab it’ll have boxes next to 1 and 2. These at the weapon sets. You select the weapon set you’d like the skill to be applied to.
what are you talking about, storm wave monk with Polcirkeln ring clears screens in one cast, not even talking about ice monk builds that freeze whole screens. With full es and cl u are also gigatanky (not saying u are immortal by anymeans but as a mapper its very good)

@@jirachiiilol8792 no. The aftershock does same damage as the initial hit so it should essentially just refresh the ignite. But if it would do a smaller ignite, it wouldn’t override it. You can basically have multiple ignites on an enemy but only the biggest one of them does damage.
i would say that was the best melee showcase. which means dont play this stupid class. there are few maps with open layout and rest of the maps you will be miserable and tripping and stucking on every single stupid thing. they need to change stampede that you can run through enemies otherwise you are just masochist if you enjoying this playstyle. i got mine to lvl 86 in ssf and it was miserable. absolutely miserable experience

Any idea how Ignite compares to bleed? I've seen some enemies that are "Fire Resistant", I'm not sure if there's any that are bleed resistant though.

It's when the skill finishes it's like 1s use window so if you use raise shield while the 2.5s fall animation is happening you get full triple dmg

god the stampede clear is fucking unbearable.
You gotta grab all the AoE nodes on your clear weapon set passive tree and it helps enormously. There’s like over 100% inc AoE on the tree all nearby.
You can cheaply annoint a few 30% aoe passives as well.

I used the Stampede +armour explosion tech too but after the nerf but I switched to Boneshatter + armour explosion.
Sure, the armour explosion can’t self chain, but the Bone Shatter Shockwave can break armour and the armour explosion can prime more stuns so it’s AoE is okay and you don’t need to be stuck on unmovable mobs with stampede. Leap slam or shield charge into a pack and blow it up with a single tap
and boneshatter is really fun too

I've recently switched to taking the 4 strength nodes out of warrior start (toward the Burning Strikes/Blood Rush intersection) instead of the 6 small damage/aoe nodes around Brutal. I'm not really sure if it's worth or not since you do miss out on Hulking Form value and it's a pretty big chunk of damage but the rate on a per passive basis is just not that impressive and the build isn't really struggling with damage right now.

It has to be all the ignite magnitude jewls, its the only thing I dont have, my hammer only has 20 phys less then his but im half the ignite dps.

Conner, i already follow your build since the beginning, which one do you prefer? Two handed mace with +6 melee all skills or +5 skills but better at add x to x physical dmg? when i use +5 skills my hotg drop 3k dmg, 51k to 48k. I dont feel any difference at all.
How do you sustain life costs with Blood Magic? Just stack regen? Or with the heal from the shield?

It gives more attack damage to make your initial hits bigger. That damage is then used as a starting point for the ignite calculations

In a pinnacle boss fight you will probably not have very much rage, only the amount Raging Cry support on Infernal Cry provides. But every bit helps. During you often reach max rage because of those couple 1 rage on hit passive nodes helping sustain the rage stacks.

with the morior invictus chest piece, how are you supposed to equip the 5th socket gem slot, because from what im seeing the standard item comes with 4 slots, so if you corrupt it for the 5th are you able to socket an additional gem into it?

For the weapon swap do i need just 2 maces it doesnt matter the base or they have to be the same base type too. example 2 expert leaden.

after it hits you can swap, might be able to swap before the hit. But after it hits the ignite is already applied.

@@RamothElggur No, you can swap right after cast. To test just try equipping a low level mace in your first weapon swap so it's obvious.
Do you still one shot bosses with really high fire resist? I saw a diff vid of a guy with a really similar build and his hammer was doing like no dmg against a boss with high fire res.
yeah that's why he has xoph's blood and flammability curse. counters the resists instantly

Unfortunately melee slams feel very slow and clunky for the amount of AoE and/or damage they produce. You've pretty much squized out almost everything out of this archetype. And this is still way less damage than monks and stormweavers. And tankiness doesn't matter yet again cuz people blow up screens, again... I hope it gets fixed before release, otherwise we get a repeat of PoE, which feels kinda stale already.

First of all, corruptions on maps can give 4 more mods up to 10. And you can get tier 16 maps uncorrupted and make them 10 mods.

They're a swap weapon button so guessing it's that... I guess that would be a personal choice, I choose to live in danger with the auto swapping for hammers and sometimes dying because of it.
Stampede can easily be made much smother with added ignore of body blocking and/or increased skill speed. There's literally no reason for this skill to have that slow base attack speed
I grabbed an acceleration shine and it felt really good. They should at least remove the delay before charging.

Why ignite over bleed? What are the pro/cons for both?
Ignite chance is affected by the size of the hit, so a big fire hit can ignite, and you can increase that chance with investment. Big phys hits however cannot inherently cause bleeding unless you specifically invest in bleed chance, and there aren't that many ways of getting bleed chance afaik.

they require +5 as all support gems. the 25 or 35 you are seeing is the total for all dex support gems you are using

I respec to this and doing insane dmg, for the ppl, if you want do clear faster just spec some point into area dmg size with your weapon/shield slot, its so much more enjoyable.
And i use the onslought helmet for more attack speed.
Only issue that i have, ill have more dmg income bc of lower armor.

t18 as in the zone has a +2 to monster level mod on it
You need to first corrupt your t15 waystone to a t16 with vaal orb, then find a spot on your atlas that has both +1 level to all monsters and corruption (corruption also increases the level of mobs on your map by 1 level)

You can set it so when your press hammer it auto switches to the weapon set that it’s allocated to. Along with the weapon set nodes he has allocated in the passive tree for weapon set 2.

@@yopuhcak it’s instant. If you have the abilities and passive set to the correct weapon set, it instantly switches automatically to the ability you press. You’ll have to try it yourself to see. It’s actually awesome.

what are you talking about, storm wave monk with Polcirkeln ring clears screens in one cast, not even talking about ice monk builds that freeze whole screens. With full es and cl u are also gigatanky (not saying u are immortal by anymeans but as a mapper its very good)

How to carry 2 weapons in one hand? I took a point with me.. but a weapon is always displayed in red that I can't equip it?!
It triples the strength requirement, so if the weapon is 150 strength to equip you need to have 450 strength

QUESTION: is the burning dmg canceld when the hammer of the god gets a aftershock?
@@jirachiiilol8792 no. The aftershock does same damage as the initial hit so it should essentially just refresh the ignite.
But if it would do a smaller ignite, it wouldn’t override it. You can basically have multiple ignites on an enemy but only the biggest one of them does damage.
So glad they nerfed armour explosion while archmage builds fill the entire screen with sparks /s

i would say that was the best melee showcase. which means dont play this stupid class. there are few maps with open layout and rest of the maps you will be miserable and tripping and stucking on every single stupid thing. they need to change stampede that you can run through enemies otherwise you are just masochist if you enjoying this playstyle. i got mine to lvl 86 in ssf and it was miserable. absolutely miserable experience
wide open map is better for every class :)
