For those worried about weapon types, I can offer the following recommendations:
1. The upgraded CGM is amazing, use it if you can (I think that's what Malice is using here). The CGM at its most upgraded will tear Sahelanthropus to pieces.
2. If you can't use it, focus on something that fires quickly, lets you reload quickly and ideally holds enough ammunition. The Grom seems to work well.
3. Use a grenade launcher in addition to your rocket launcher. When you run out of ammo for either, a supply drop is called automatically. Use one of the weapon's ammo completely (launching the supply drop), then switch to the other.
A few other tips:
1. Use the flare grenades that let you call in resupplies. It's much easier/faster.
2. Use your NVGs when the sky turns red, it makes it easier to spot Sahelanthropus
3. If you already have the 'S' rank and are going for one of the side objectives, equip the infinity bandanna (if you have it ). It'll give you unlimited ammo for your launchers (at the expense of not being able to 'S'-rank the mission).
You can try bringing in a tank (or using one of the tanks available) but eventually the red mist will render it unusable, and you'll need to rely on your own weapons. Frankly I find it too difficult/tedious to operate the tanks and prefer to just rely on my own weapons.
Finally: when you get toward the end of the fight, Sahelanthropus will jump toward you, initiating Reflex Mode. I strongly advise having a DMG weapon equipped that doesn't deal splash damage (like the handgun MaliceNX is using - that's perfect). I have killed myself in this section multiple times by firing a grenade or rocket. Take your time and don't panic. You have roughly 7 seconds to shoot the boy, so steady and aim carefully. If you miss him and reflex mode ends, it's a one-shot kill. :(

Use the Zhuk Rs-z0. I can take out sahelanthropus with only one of these and there are 3 parked nearby. I just use the heavy machine gun at long range (which never heats up, unlike the tank's one) Then I switch to the 6-missile launcher. Trick is to aim for a weak spot with mg then switch to missiles when it's downed. Never has a chance to defend itself if you put the hurt into it constantly.
Weak spots are as all mgs games:
Joints like knees
Face
Radar (shoulder)
Chestplate
Each of those make 5 times it can be downed and you just keep banging it into submission. Easy

Kind of 6 years late but can I use d-walker with the Gatling gun? It worked perfectly for me in the non extreme version
Glad to know the Reflex Mode sequence for the floating boy does not count as a Reflex Mode in the final score.
Did this mission the way you did it in the non-extreme one and it worked too. Equipped the Parasite Suit (Armor) just in case. Still got S rank. Thanks man, got my platinum because you!
Kojima's logic works as following, Become nigh invincible or create a map covering mist that turns enemies near blind and does not raise any suspicion: No rank restriction.
Use this very very limited invisibility parasite: rank restricted.

Get Sahelanthropus to 1/2 health. Run/Hide when the redmist comes. Let Sahelanthropus target Pequod. After he kills pequod, he’ll go into the railgun mode and shoot randomly. Just wait until he’s done railgunning. Do not engage until he’s done with the railgun. When done, He’ll jump at you and you can run around and dodge his fire attack. Get his health low for the last hit. Once he makes a wall spike, he’ll be lunging at you soon. Be ready to shoot the floating boy. I used the regular tier1 pistol. Just need to hit him once. Finish off Sahelanthropus
as you are by far the best mgs 5 player I've seen, which 1 was the tougher mission: metallic archaea or sahelantropus?

Metallic Archaea was simple. S Rank first try. Just go for the anti air craft gun behind the plane infringement of you. You can kill them all within like a minute.
It sucked for me because I didn't have to develope launchers until,this battle. Was quite a wait.
This video is like 1 in a million. He NEVER just stands ontop of the hill for me and waits after I blow up his back parts, he charges down the hill and burns the shit out of me. Basically impossible to do without the level 6 launcher too.

Easiest mission ever if you can find a good tactic if you call air support right at the start then run to the right there's a tank get in shoot Sahlenthropus until it kicks you out either from it being destroyed or when the smoke appears then shoot him with everything you've got only use grenade launchers, rocket launchers and Lmg's (light machine guns)

You can hit It with launcher when it goes far and just lasers....i did that and it worked just go to your cover after that and the laser won't hit you.

What's your setting for the chopper in this mission? Is does it have rocket launchers, armor and everything?
the chopper is your support to destroy sahelanthropus. the chopper sometimes using missile and use it's gun to fire. depends the pilot does

Use Skulls Armour ( The one which doesnt restrict to A Rank). Hit the head. Dont panic. No need to run everywhere. There is simple routine to it.
***** You have to farm the skulls for your better Armour to develop at Level 5-6 or 7 etc.
I simply played Metallic Archea 4 times in a row capturing 16 Skulls. You use these to develop new Armour.
Metallic Archea is easy to complete as youre not going for S Rank. Best you use the Parasite suit and put the Armour on, only use the bare minimum.
NOTE I have never once used Reflex Mode in TPP so I dont recommend it if youre not used to it. But if you are it helps. Or use the drug that induces a reflex mode as sometimes Sahelanthropos will die without throwing the floating boy out.
Each to their own though.
On M Archea I used
Armour like level 3 Armour on a Level 5 or 6 suit with the Brennan 12.5mm Rifle. Each time you kill a Skull run and extract it or you will lose 1 or 2 if you dont.

I think that'l be cool if in the middle of the battle , sahelanthropus falls on the knees , and then hand to hand combat starts with skull face . Imagine shirtless skull face and shirtless snake fighting on top of sahelanthropus .

itzememario if your still looking for the answer: it's the white containers on it's back. You do a ton of damage if you hit them
I never developed the lvl 6 cause it's damage compared to the 5 is tiny

One Man 1970 just shoot one of the pillars with a grenade launcher and run through the opening.
The rocks are linear when they pop up so just run to either side & you'll avoid them
