    1:30 Verdaccio! Vince, TEN YEARS AGO a friend mentioned that her art school compatriot landed an insane gig painting the Norwegian royal family because they liked his method of undercoating flesh tones in green-I thought it was some mad scientist trick unique to this random kid. For the past decade, every time I’d see an oil portrait I’d be reminded of that little detail. You’ve put a name to it for me-thank you! And thank you for all that you do; your videos are a real tiramisu of technique, art theory, and encouraging philosophy. Thank you, sensei! 🙏

    Dunno if I've missed it on videos in the past, but this is the first time I've heard this background music track and wanted to mention I really dig it. Good stuff, I'll enjoy it anytime it comes up in the rotation!

    I think the white balance was a little bit out on this video. Makes it a bit hard to see the colours during the painting.

    The wood seems a bit green/yellow-ish. Is that just white balance? I've not been able to get my hands on any Inktense Wood, but I like using a 1:1 mix of Daler Rowney Sepia and Red Earth inks over a zenithal basecoat.

    • @VinceVenturella

    I love speed paint tutorials. I think people under value contrast paints, they are really good transforming a tedious job , aka painting dozens of zombies, into something gratifying. Will you try Scale75's Instant Colors?

    Hi Vince! I’m thinking of adding a bunch of moss/grass/dirt to my zombies to do a bit of a risen from forest graves vibe. Should I add that before the priming step or paint them fully and then add it or something else? Having trouble figuring out sequence

    • @VinceVenturella
      @VinceVenturella  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I think you could do either, but I would probably do it beforehand. I would add the dirt and similar first, prime so you can paint, then maybe put a little grass on afterward and just hit that with a wash or something.

    • @VinceVenturella

      Correct, it's called Verdaccio, it basically means a green undercoat to lay pink flesh over, it makes it look more neutral and grey.

    Seems like Trovarion has other opinions about speed painting. Could be a good topic for myth busting.
    If you could do some tutorials about comic style I would be very happy. There are a lot of different comic styles I've seen on miniatures but I couldn't grab the essentials. Could be more videos than one as there are different styles like cartoony, drawing, cell shading etc.

    • @sevencoloredmage8726
      @sevencoloredmage8726 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes, that would make a great Myth Busting episode.
      From my understanding of Trovarion's video, he criticized the constant urge to just paint fast, to cut corners so to speak. Like just doing the same "basecoating, wash of nuln oil and drybrush on top" over and over again. That will get a lot of minis painted quickly. But you will make very slow or no progress at becoming a better painter.
      I can understand the urge to "finish off" a bunch of minis, if they are dearly needed to actually enjoy a game. Like one's first army/warband or these boxed boardgame sets. But I think it is a missed opportunity to not try out new techniques and to have fun when painting the following purchases.

    • @VinceVenturella
      @VinceVenturella  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Yeah, that would be a great discussion, because we have very different takes on it. :) - Good discussion that.

    Dear Vince, if you happen to see this I would like to make a marketing recommendation and ask for your advice about something. I bought "Reign in Hell" first day and am currently printing and painting models while waiting for the book to arrive. I bought "Cast & Play's" June release ironically and conveniently titled/themed the "Depths of Hell". Titan Forge also has a demon based release this month. These companies often sponsor TH-camrs and perhaps might be willing to work out some sort of tit for tat type of collaboration. You guys mention them, they mention you type thing. However, as both of those company's are also table top games perhaps they might be unwilling to help advertise what they could see as competition. I mention them due to the convenience of the demon centric releases they both put out this month. One of my personal favorites is "Loot Studios", which I'm almost certain would be willing to collaborate and help advertise "Reign in Hell" on their site if you guy's advertised their site/models on your channels. Recently, they did a sale on a past release for the original price of 15 dollars, as opposed to the marked up price of 30 dollars. Perhaps something similar could be worked out between you guys for their Demon themed models they released back in December titled "A Light in the Shadow". Idk, just a thought I had after buying "Reign in Hell" and then the "Depths of Hell" models to go with it. A lot of these 3d printable model companies could make for a mutual beneficial relationship if you guys reached out.
    As Warhammer is like a second profession for you, I would like to ask your advise regarding "Cursed City". The Sunday before last I found out that "Cursed City" became limited from a TH-cam video I happened across. Until then, I planned on picking one up at a later date,. After that video I panicked and bought the cheapest one I could find online. In total I paid $314 for the game. Monday I was able to find one locally for $179 + tax. Now clearly I overpaid for the one I got online, but I'm wondering if I should follow through with returning it. Isn't this like the kind of thing that will be worth a bunch of money in a year or two? Should I send it back and get my $314 back? Or, should I put it in my closet for a year or two and sell it on eBay for a lot more? Cursed City was literately my first ever Warhammer purchase, so I'm totally ignorant, and would greatly value your recommendation please and thank you.

    • @VinceVenturella
      @VinceVenturella  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      My honest feeling, if you got the cheaper copy, I would either return the other one or sell it. I love the set, it's very worth having one, but I wouldn't pay that much for one.

    • @lehns1
      @lehns1 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@VinceVenturella Yeah was hoping it was kind of thing thats price might increase in time, guess I'll bight the bullet and pay to have it shipped back. Mine as well have lit $25 dollars on fire, if only the game itself was good I might of made 25 bucks instead, but I guess time wont make it worth $314 + Tax + Shipping to someone a year from now either.
