As a former member of the Force (82-86), I really appreciate the heartfelt words of encouragement from NSU's drumline instructor to members of the Force. This shows that our "rivalry" should stop on the field. The HBCU experience is about FAMILY.

This is BLACK PRIDE the love and respect shown on this field is why I pushed for my children to attend HBCU's #CentralState ...... We all win when the kids are doing what they love ❤ great job Norfolk and Hampton......

If you happen to be on Hampton's percussion staff please read this and take it into consideration. I've been an MD fan for about 15 years now I can say that the snare line is dirtier than usual. Overall MDF$ narrowly pulled this out only because they had a little more groove to their cadences and you can hear the tonals.
Hampton has a clean snare section and is cleaner than I've ever heard them. If you are like me, the bass drum section (tonals) determine whether or not the rest of the line sounds good. The only thing that is a pet peeve of mine and that holds Hampton back by a small margin is the bass drum tuning. Hampton's top three tonals (bass drums) are tuned too high, and the pitches of the top bass drums clash with the quints and the pitch of the single tenor drums. The low end bass drums are dead tuned and don't have a pitch so there is no resonance.
If your are going to tune 7 bass drums try using these notes: Bass 1- A, Bass 2- G, Bass 3- F, Bass 4- C, Bass 5- G, Bass 6-LOW C, then tune Bass 7 to a lower dead tone. That way you get a more boomy and full sound from the bass drums.
Hampton has really come up over the past few years. Hampton is now really a force. Keep up the good work. Imma be watching your future videos to see if you guys took some of my advice on the bass drum tuning.
