Given the sparsity of the population of the depths, its probably actually really hard for infections to spread - which probably helps with the whole "no traditional adaptive immunity" thing
Sometimes you really have to wonder how evolution transforms regular fish reproduction into this. Like, what are the processes that lead into this? It's intriguing. Also, I like how they added how humans can possibly use these seemingly trivial facts for our benefits at the end.

Maybe an immune system isn't as important when you're so unlikely to encounter another of your species that you mate by fusing with the first member of the opposite sex you find. Disease is normally the result of large numbers of individuals in close proximity to each other. Even if an Angeler fish encounters a pathogen once, what are the odds it would ever encounter the same type of pathogen again? I'd guess slim to none.
Because, for the immune system to develop an immunity to anything, it first has to encounter the thing, and then it has to survive the thing with enough immune cells left to remember the thing, and pass the information on to other cells. Think of it as you seeing a new fruit, for example. You have no idea what it is, or if it's edible. If you eat it, get sick, and then recover, you know next time that the fruit is not edible. It's the same with our immune system. But if you die, or if you don't remember what fruit it was that almost killed you, you have no idea what fruits to avoid in the future. Also, I don't know what you mean by "spa"
@@Kartoffelkamm I didn't want get censored mentioning certain cells. And still when bacteria invade your body remembers how to fight them and produce anti Bodies . do the immune cells in the uteruses die and even they send information to other cells
