    Xiexie, Jessie! I'm always fascinated by unisex names in different languages and I love hearing of girls with cool unisex or guys; names. My wife Chris is a good example, even though I admit her name isn't a top favorite. I usually call her "hunny bunny"

    Hi! I just started learning Chinese, and I’ve watched a few of your name videos for inspiration to pick my name. They are super helpful! 🙏 What do you think of 江一晓 for a girl’s name? I like the meaning of “dawn” so I was thinking about a character from your other video as well. 江妍昕 or 江一昕 as other options maybe. Do these all sound terrible? 😭 (Edited to add: I like the character 汐 as well, so maybe 江妍汐.) I am open to suggestions. 谢谢你!

    • @ChinesewithJessie
      @ChinesewithJessie  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      They are all pretty good, if I had to rank them, that would be 江妍汐/ 江妍昕/江一晓/江一昕, but honestly they are all good. Hope this helps.

      They're both cool! As for the surname, I think 范(fàn) goes well with them and it sounds like your original name Fra.

    My surname Moreira means mulberry tree, so I picked 桑 because I know it is a real family name in China (not sure if it's common though). As for Ivo, I don't know, I was thinking about 依沃 due to the sounds and kind of look cool together, but also because they're actually used in given names, right? However, there are so many others to use, like 一,亦,伊,武,舞,so I'm undecided, hahaha

    • @luikzwafeltje212
      @luikzwafeltje212 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      names dont have to be three-charactered. 桑沃 alone is simple and poetic。桑一舞 is also great

    Hi!) Found your channel very helpful, thanks for your content😌
    Have been thinking of a name 莲谐歌 or 夏莲歌 or 和莲歌 for myself, hope that at least one of them won't sound too cringy😁

    • @ChinesewithJessie
      @ChinesewithJessie  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hmm... 莲 is quite old-fashioned for names, I remember once I asked my mom why women in her times are mostly named 莲/荷/梅/菊(common flowers in China)... my mom said it's because back in the day lots of people in the countryside were illiterate, those were already the most beautiful words they knew.
      夏is a good surname though, the other two don't sound like proper names to me. 歌 is beautiful as well, so maybe you can go with 夏*歌 or 夏歌* ?
      I have a suggestion: 夏樱歌. It rolls off the tongue with falling/flat/flat tones. 樱 means cherry/sakura🌸. In China, sakura symbolizes love/hope/pureness/nobility. It's also the national flower of Japan, in Japan, it represents a time of renewal and the fleeting nature of life.
      But don't be restricted by my thoughts, you can be creative and get any name you want! Hope this helps though. Let me know if you have any other questions, I'd be happy to help.

I was thinking of getting the name 廖淹睦, but I am not sure if it's stupid, since it sounds like 煙幕. Otherwise I thought of 廖睦文, but on the other hand that sounds like 木紋. I am unsure. I've been trying to come up with some names for male characters in a story and am wondering if this 耐 could be used. Or does it sound weird or bad? What would be a fitting surname and are there other character's that go well with this character? Great video by the way!

    • @ChinesewithJessie
      @ChinesewithJessie  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi, I‘ve never heard of this character in a name(still doesn't mean you can't use it though), it does sound a bit weird for me. As for the surname and other characters in the name, I think it depends on the setting of the story and the personality of this character you're trying to build? Dunno if this makes sense to you.

    • @sosekiwinter8235
      @sosekiwinter8235 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@ChinesewithJessie What you've said totally makes sense. I'll certainly keep that in mind. It's a mythological setting and the character is kinda intense and somewhat paranoid, but noble at heart. Anyways I'll think on your advice and try to come up with something. Thanks for taking the time to reply!

      Hi Lily, one of my friends' English name is Lily and her Chinese name is 李莉, I think that's a nice name too. And out of the three options I like 倩君 the most, maybe 倩倩 could be another option? The second 倩 will be pronounced as the neutral tone, lǐ qiàn qian sounds nice to me.
