I rode that exact bike home, same color even, brand new from the dealership. I was 20, it was the first new vehicle I ever purchased. I even remember how proud my father was when I pulled into the driveway with it! He wasn’t a motorcycle guy but I talked him into an Honda XR75 when I was 8, and motorcycles have been a part of my life every since.
Beautiful looking bike. It sounds amazing. Pure American thunder. I'd take the FXR over any bike Harley is selling today. Your sacrifice for the cause says a lot about your character. I visited the museum in 2018 and was not only blown away by the motorcycles but the craftsmanship of the building's restoration as well. Second to none.

I live in Bristol CT, and have been riding my whole life practically that’s a beast ! Reminds me of the old days ! After a cancer battle which I won , my expenses are depleted ! But you will sell that beauty quick Brother

I have the exact 1990 FXRS, same paint, same bike but my gauges are on the tank. Ive seen both setups but no explanation why Harley did it.

I like the FXR much better than the Dyna. I've had both and the FXR is far superior in my opinion. I was told by a HD rep the Dyna platform is cheaper to make that's the only reason HD switched.

I picture you more of a Road Glide guy based on your size.... especially traveling with Christie and all. Do you have any regrets? Was it an impulse buy? Will you move up to a touring model now?

That’s one sweet Harley! That has to be the toughest decision to make.. Also that KLR is a badass machine, love mine!
You’re almost making us cry here. We’re not “Harley Davidson People” here, per se, but…. We have to recognize certain benchmark HD classics of the 70s and 80s such as the legendary XR750, the XR1000, and…. Perhaps most of all, the incredible FXR with it’s perhaps unmatched combination of classic HD styling and remarkable handling/stability characteristics.
You’re a bigger man than me. Short of a family member needing a kidney transplant or similar-I absolutely cannot image myself letting go of that bike.
My advice: sell it to someone you trust to respect and take care of it, who will promise to give you first dibs at buying it back someday if/when they should ever decide to sell it. Because….. believe me, you will truly regret letting that one go. I can hear it in your voice.

@@ajcates9136 not denying that. First day on a Harley was the best day of my life, I'll never forget it. 76' ironhead, oh man. The smell, the vibration, the yearning to be on it ALL THE TIME, even at the behest of my wife and kids whom I rarely see during riding season. Last year I put on 8.9k just on my 20' iron special in 6 months time here in Minnesota. Impatiently waiting for spring

How much would this bike be worth? Just curious
I like kaplan's enthusiasm and I've been following him since the beginning but I can honestly say at least with the CR500's single-handedly bought the majority of them Jacked the prices up to unobtainium and made them to where the common guy can't afford them because what you used to be able to get 6K now everybody wants 10K because he has bought and sold all of them so yay I guess but I do love his enthusiasm just sucks for me
Con tentment is a tricky bitch. They better turn the shop into a gasgas, ktm, husky, east coast outlet.
Guessing $25k? Maybe 30K? It is beautiful but I like the profile of Dynas better. FXRs are a little stubby to me, like a sporty. Still beautiful bike.
Ive owned and built the best dynas ever made. The only thing a dyna does better is look cool.. in the showroom.... Dyna's are a wobbly mess at 100+ mph compared to the fxr. Search Kaplan Dyna on youtube

One of the baddest bikes I’ve ever laid eyes on…gd I’d kill for that mfer ken…ol buddy had 1 but not near that level and yes it would out handle all our big tire low riders round these ol Ky mts with skinny tires and 1340cc…take one over a 1550 anyday..
