Hey Mike. I sold that one. It was running great when I sold it. The only issue it had was that the oil injector would leak oil into the cylinder, making it hard to start after it sat for a couple days.
I watched the whole video to see how you take the clutch off 😂 realized you skipped that part of the video... Do you remember the steps to take it off ? Wanted to see it done before I dig into it myself .
It has been a while since I had those Sprees. I don’t remember, but I would think there was a nut on the shaft holding the clutch. You might need a puller to pull the clutch off the shaft.
@@SouthpawWorkshop the part that houses the speedometer and front light. I think I've figured that it's pretty much removing the front fender, unscrewing the visible screws to be able to push the bottom half down to have access to the last two... I want to buff out my front light and need to replace my rear break line
Hi thomas just kind of finished restoring one that has been used as a plant pot for years. Cleaned it all up and got it to start only after injecting lil petrol and oil in the engine. When it starts is over revs like crazy then dies out. This is the first scooter i tried to restore so im not so clued up on it. I replaced the throtle casble but still cant stop the over rev. Any ideas what could be the problem?
It could be a lot of things, most have to do with the carburetor. Your idle screw may be turned in too far, the throttle slide might be stuck, your air/fuel mixture screw may not be adjusted properly, or you may have an air leak between the carburetor and engine. Any of these things can cause the condition you are describing. I might suggest looking up Mustie1 on TH-cam. I learned everything I know about small engines by watching him. Good luck!
@@SouthpawWorkshop cheers bud thanks allot for the response! I had already checked all the things you mentioned except the throtle slide so i will do that next. Ill also check out the channel you mentioned. 😁👍
One other thing you can do is pull out your throttle slide, turn it 180 degrees and reinsert it. It will fit in either way, but only will work properly when indexed to the correct slot.
You NEED to have the cover on the engine because that is how it cools. If you don't have cover on fan is just spinning and doing nothing.
Interesting idea . Make one out of two damaged one . Thanks .
A short radiator hose with a 45° angle should connect your carb to airbox.
How’s it running now? Would love to see an updated video. Cheers

@@SouthpawWorkshop what did you end up doing for an air hose to the air box?
travis king I used a clear piece of vinyl hose that fit the carb intake perfectly. It was a straight shot to the airbox so it worked out well.
Did you put any oil in the cylinder before you compression tested it because the cylinder would be dry and create very low compression?
Great point and no I didn't. It would definitely explain the low compression.
the new engine sounds like a million bucks

where do you find spare parts for the spree?
Honda Spree Facebook groups, local marketplace and eBay.
hello Thomas greetings from Colombia how do I get the crank pinion for a honda Eve smile thanks
Not sure. Do you have access to eBay.com in Colombia?
i wish my Spree had a filter on the fuel line it probably wouldn't have had to be rebuilt
How do you remove the headcasing for the Honda, cant find anything online
Hey Carson, not sure what you mean by headcasing? If you mean removing the head, you would have to remove the whole engine to be able to do that.

Gotcha. Yeah should be pretty easy. Just a matter of finding all the screws.
Hey Like channel question on your carb whats the lower tube connection on fuel bowl.i have 87 And i dont know where it goes
The lowest connection on the fuel bowl is the drain. When you unscrew the drain plug, fuel will flow out of that connection.
Hi, honda spree and honda eve pax , same as the engine? Thanks
Yes. Same engine

I need a carb for one of these!
What should the compression be
Ideally, 125 minimum, but you can get away with lower than that. I would think it would have trouble running under 90 psi
Did you have to replace the gasket when you took the clutch cover off??
I have yet to see a gasket on a clutch cover that I removed
is it possible to put gy6 engine on it?
I believe so. Looks like a lot of fabrication would be required.
Clutch repair huh
Thanks yes that's a drain the one I'm talking about is one that looks like 1/4 in barbed like a vacuum line
