(Outdated) How to get Active Developer Badge on Discord!

- Unfortunately the mobile method has stopped working. I would suggest using something like botghost.com/ and using their "Active Developer Module" to get active developer.
This is an updated version because replit doesn't work anymore. This tutorial covers both DESKTOP and MOBILE! You also don't need an alt account or a friend. Make sure to follow all the steps like resetting your bot's token and secret so nothing can ever happen and I can sleep at night.
So Discord released a new badge called "Active Developer" and you can get it very easily! In this speedrun tutorial I'll show you how to set up a bot that will allow you to send a slash command. Once you do that, wait 24 hours and redeem that badge gamer.

FAQ and important updates! 1. GiveMeBadge has been removed since there is a lot of malware popping up from people taking advantage of Alex's actually functioning givemebadge.exe. I suggest you use the website method only (the video should be cut to only show that method regardless).
Q: It's been 24 hours and I havent gotten the badge!
A: You need to make sure that you have "Use Data to improve Discord" enabled under User Settings > Privacy & Safety. Discord staff said this so if you are having issues, this will help :)
Q: DO I NEED TO DO THIS EVERY 30 DAYS?
A: Nope! That was a mistake from me, sorry. Do this once and you should be good!
Q: I CANNOT SEE THE BOT
A: Just run the /finish command and it should work. The bot is located in your server settings > Integrations and at the bottom it should show your bot.
if i was able to send the command yesterday do i need to make a new method or i still will get the badge by 24h?
What if I already made a bot yesterday in replit and did the steps of yesterdays video? will I still be able to redeem in 24 hours?
OH so that's why my server's bot has been wonky for some time now.

The badge is so easy to get that I’ve seen ACTUAL 9 year olds begging for it lol. There’s a lot a arguments regarding the badge’s exclusivity, but people will go extreme lengths regardless of what the badges are. I’m just glad it’s easily accessible which will cut down account selling, and will actually inspire more devs to start working on their project(s)!
9 year olds aren’t allowed to use discord though…

Tbh I feel like it’s sort of too easy to get it. Maybe say that your bot has to be older than x days to get it and be at least 10 or so guilds. A small requirement but should really motivate people. The req for it being so little basically makes the badge fuck all

At first, I tought this badge was so difficult to get. I watched multiple tutorials and I had to wait 3 days and It didn't worked. At first couldn't understand your video. But after a few minutes, I realized that getting the badge is so easy! I did it and it worked perfectly! FYI: If you're not getting the badge now after waiting 24+ hours it's because (as already said in the video) there's an ongoing bug which prevents some accounts from getting the badge. This glitch is meant to be fixed by tuesday.
Also it might be possible that you need an alt / friend of yours to run the command instead of your own account, but this is a speculation.

Also when you use the command the bot should reply saying "you can now collect your badge" or something like that.

well, actually i earned the badge 3 months ago by following the step-by-step explanation from this video. and I'm just surprised this still works as per day..

For people who already have a discord bot that runs slash commands before the update rolled out, you should be able to get it.
The server has to be a community server thing tho. I tried it and it only worked for a new server, just as NTTS described.
I'm now happy that I've made like 5 bots in my entire life

I think it's weird that Discord stopped giving out new Early Verified Bot Developer badges, because people were creating bots just for the badge, but then rolled out an even more accessible badge with the same issue. They should just have a Verified Bot Developer badge IMO.
I predict they'll discontinue the active developer badge shortly as well, due to you guessed it, people making bots for the badge.
the difference is that the verified bot developer badge required humans to review spam verification applications, whereas this new one does not
It's not the same. This one is easy to get, the other one was near impossible if you weren't a developer. The issue wasn't people creating bots just for the badge, the issue was people trying to steal accounts or buy their way onto development teams which were about to get verified for the badge.
Strangely the accessibility actually makes this one a lot less of an issue

We have received a lot of questions about why the badge isn't restricted to verified bots, or bots in X amount of servers, or something to make the badge more difficult to obtain. A lot of users seem worried the badge is too easy to get, or that people will download a bot from GitHub just to get the badge.
For the record - getting the badge this way is valid and should be encouraged! Everyone starts learning programming in different ways. We should not judge people for how they start bot development, we should instead welcome them into our community and encourage them to continue learning however they want
They will have learned about creating a bot on discord, they will have learned how to get a bot online and run a program, and will have learned about configuring that bot. Their intent to get the badge doesn't disqualify the learning that happened, and we should help them continue their journey as new developers.
TL;DR:
This badge is meant to be for everyone and we want it to be easy to obtain! If someone uses it to learn about programming and bot development, then it is has been a resounding success
I am so glad, I did this on mobile using Replit before this.
(Many people have asked if they have to do this aswell if you have already done the replit method. You don’t. Just wait the 24 hrs)

I'm curious, is this badge meant for like bot developers? If so, I'm kinda experienced with python, made a few games, dipping my toes into machine learning all that nice stuff and I've been thinking about making a bot myself. Would it be better to wait and do this proccess with my own bot or does it really not matter? Of course if this badge means you've developed a bot

Doesn't matter if you develop the app yourself or not, It just means you own an app, that has a global slash command, that has been run at least once. That's literally it.

It's recommended to use slash commands, as chat commands are already heavily outdated and have been deprecated for years.

I've two bots which are 2 month old(actually being used on my discord servers), applied for it within 1st hour of rollout of this badge and got the Badge 😄.

Same here, before the badges existed I made an anti raid and currency bot only for my server and I instantly got it.
I got a question nobody answered yet. I coded a bot and a slash command, but added a guild id so the slash command is not run globally. Does it still count, or do I have to specifically run it globally for the badge?

I have a question: I coded my own bot with a simple /hello command, and I'm wondering if I need to host it online for it to be permanently active to get the badge. Otherwise I just run it from Visual Studio Code when I want to do something with it. Does that work?

edit: it worked! took 22 hours until the website changed from the ineligible screen to a different one which said to claim my badge.

Discord will not be enforcing the 30-day activity check for active developers until January 2023. Existing Active Developers will keep the badge, and new developers can still claim the Active Developer Badge

Whenever i have seen that badge. I started to work on a new bot unlike what I was doing before in the past 1 year. These comments you see are 100% right. Probably Discord have done that because they know they can increase the developers percentage on Discord, else will be more strict requirements on that badge. Just a theory!
Most likely you'll have to wait 24 hours as said. I had a bot created laster year....lol. Just did this and the only thing theat popped up hitting the 4th link was my old bot, thus telling me to wait 24 hours basically. So, I chose my old bot and viola! New badge, thank's bro!
Mine has just been revoked. Ive been doing the /finish command like once a week and i just received an email saying no activity has been detected in the past 60 days??

If you use a server/application that was created previously you get the badge instantly. It gave it to me pretty much as soon as i invited the bot.
EDIT: it seems as though some haven’t been able to replicate this but idk how else I got it so quick other than if it was because I made a few bots before. They just haven’t been on any server that I wasn’t a part of.
My bot i think is 1 year old, I made a Slash command and ran it, but I did not get it instantly. That was yesterday and I don't have the badge yet.
@@jeremygames2006 hm both my application/bot and server were 2+ years old but I doubt that matters. I’m not sure why I would get it instantly after though.

I think this method is patched. You must wait 30 days or 1 month.

I have waited 24 hours an I am able to access the page for claiming the badge. However, when asked to choose a support server, there are no options. My bot is in multiple servers and I have actually used it and run commands so I know it works. What should I do?

I did it successfully and got the badge 2 months ago but since then my bot is still online even though I'm not running it and every slash command I've written gives the same response like 2:32 in video, is this okay? will my bot get controlled and go scam people?

Does it need an endpoint url? I am doing this bot thing from scratch and everything but the endpoint is put in because I have no website giving me an endpoint.
In my server it said, "The application did not respond" but i did enable community and stuff, why does it do that?
If you code, you probably already have an application that is eligible for this on the redemtion page. cause i did all the steps mentions here and the application didnt show on the redemtion page. Got the badge instantly by using an 3-4 month old appplication
The first ever app I made about 2 weeks ago didn’t have slash commands implemented on it so I couldn’t be eligible unfortunately. On a good note, this time I’m making a bot with slash commands
