  • I hiked to the top of Mount Xiqiao, a 50 million year old extinct volcano in Guangdong, Southern China, on the Pearl River Delta.
    The Guanyin of the South China Sea is the 5th largest Buddhist monument in the world, and believe me - or watch and see for yourself - when I tell you the views are breathtaking.
    Can you help me? My goal for my channel is to get to 1000 subscribers by the end of 2021 and I have 75 to go (20 days left). Nudge me towards my goal by clicking subscribe? 😉

    Thanks for the upload mate. Enjoyed the tour and narration. Glad you made it home safely.👍
    Anything comparable to the Stonehenge?😏 Go to the Kunming stone forest some day.
    There are many such historical landmarks/mountain scenery described in your video across China. Other famous giant Buddha statues are located in Leshan, Henan, Hainan and nearby HK. Need time to explore. The country is vast.

      Thanks I'll check those out! I want to go to HK soon but it's difficult at the moment..
      Fun Fact: I've been to Stonehenge exactly once in my life. When I was at uni me and my housemates were at the train station before a night out when we missed the last train - 2 elderly female Norwegian travellers had also missed their train to their hotel, they planned to sleep on the station floor and head to Stonehenge the next day.
      We invited them to our student house (we had a sofa and a spare room), listened to music and drank wine all night and then drove them to Stonehenge the next day! Was well worth the skipped lectures 😂

    Finally new video hooray !!! Thanks mate for your effort as I know you are a busy man. Over here we always hear that Chinese people cannot freely travel from one city to another because it has COVID cases everywhere. As you know in the west there are only government controlled news. Could you please tell us is this true? And how free are you be able to travel within China ? Cheers mate !

    • @Harveyinchina

    X is pronounced like sh, so xi = she. Q is pronounced like ch or tch, so Qiao sounds like ciao in Italian.
    It's nice to see you finally be able to talk to the camera in the public when nobody is around. lol

    I think maybe the real history for Chinese began to pray at Mountain Xiqiao may be much shorter than 8000 years. And a little suggestion for your pinyin pronounciation: "xi" is sounded more like "she" rather than "zi", and "fo" is sounded more like "for" rather than the "fou".

    • @Harveyinchina
      @Harveyinchina  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Oh really? Stone tools were found on the mountain dating back ~8,000 years! Thanks for the tip, I think I'll be learning correct pronunciations for quite some time yet 😃
