    It’s not mixing just ANY red or any blue, they’re specific colours. In order to get the neutrals, pay attention to the colours she’s using.
    This is gold. Thank you so much!

    It ended up looking like a warm tropical forest and made me want to do this color studies again. I did the ones suggested by Richard Schmid a couple of years ago and they've helped me a lot, but I got so tired that they stopped being fun at the end. Now I think I'm in the mood again, specially because yours doesn't involve making endless squares, hahahaha. Thank you again Dianne, I love your videos. Still the best teacher I know.

    • @IntheStudioArtInstruction
      @IntheStudioArtInstruction  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      A triad palette is a palette of three colors. Most commonly, a triad is selected from colors of equidistance on the color wheel, but there are many color combinations that work. For example - two warms and a cool, or two cools and a warm or a split complementary set. The combinations are many.

I loved coloring posters and the new coloring books for adults. I use only color pencils as the pens are to hard to control.
    I have been wondering about what comes naturally was called thank you again for this video it explained a lot. As I age 65 going on 66 my hand tremors are getting worse so I haven't been coloring much. I have been thinking of trying acrylic pouring. Hello Dianne, I have watched your tutorials on the use of colour schemes and found them indeed very helpful. Following the same principles of analogous and complementary relationships, how would it be advisable to use, let's say more neutral colours? Specifically, I'm thinking of umber and Sienna, both raw and burnt. These appear to have a combined content of reds and yellows with other colours and I would like to use them as my predominant hue. Thank you so much.

    • @IntheStudioArtInstruction
      @IntheStudioArtInstruction  4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Our earth colors -- mainly burnt umber, burnt sienna, raw umber, raw sienna and the ochres -- all are neutralized versions of warm hues. To be more specific, burnt umber is a red/orange hue, burnt sienna is also red-orange but more orange than red, raw umber tends to lean more towards yellow and so does raw sienna. Neutralized hues will always harmonize because they all visually contain their complement (which is why they are neutralized). They work wonderfully together as an analogous color scheme.

    There was something you did on 1 of your other videos.
    About getting the values of the colors.
    When one wasn't quite as light or dark, I noticed you'd add more of the complimentary color against what it had more of in the mixture.
    I hope this makes some sort of sense 😂.
    Thank you Diane ❤

      I'm glad to know that some art schools are actually teaching sound principles.

    I’ve spent a long time trying to make sense of colour theory but this is the best and clearest explanation yet.
    Supposing this was a landscape painting and it included a house with a red roof. Your chosen colours don’t include a red, so, can you add a red? Or, is it that you begin with a scheme that already includes a red?

      See my Quick Tip 121 on color harmony, and 238 on mother color and I believe you will find your answer.
