The woman at the beginning of the video with Angelina is her grandmother Mery. She is the person that exposed Angelina to jazz music as a very small child and has had a huge influence on her career.
La version de Adele esta increiblemente cantada. Pero Angelina nos da ese matiz inesperado que nos eriza la piel, nos emociona y nos hace sonreir.
I listened to Adele's version several times. She is a fantastic writer and has a beautiful voice as well technically skilled but I didn't connect to the song. To me she sounded very robotic as if it was another chore to do and cross off her list.
The first time I listened to Angelina singing this song, I was overwhelmed with emotions. I felt every word as she took me away on a journey to her world.
Maybe because I've been following her since the time that she was 7 years old and watched her progress from one level to another and I feel like a proud grandpa.
My eyes still tear up every time I listen to her.

Someone said this was a simple song but after listening to you there were a lot of choices that affected nearly everything about this song and I had a sense that Angelina was simply doing what was needed to convey her emotion to the listener. Ceci, IMO, Angelina's music receives the CECI Stamp Of Approval when you do a reaction to it. My highest compliment to your musicality.
Ceci many thanks for your informative reaction and analysis. I believe Angelina added a new tool to her approach here. She has always treated each note, syllable and lyric as if it is the most important in the song. For this performance, she increased the strength of her vocals as the song went along to emphasize, in my opinion, the hope she wants the song to convey. Adele's version sounds sad, Angelina's hopeful.

I have been waiting for your reaction, and I loved it. Personally, I feel that Angelina wasn’t unsure of the first part, instead she sang it to show her vulnerability, and hurt. In the second part she sings with more resolve to emote her anger and frustration, but finally returns to the softer vulnerability to show her regret at the relationships demise, with regret. She is a naturally born storyteller, and magical. Showing more vocal colors than the Adele version, IMHO, Angelina is once again making the meaning of each word count. Listen to the words. If you listen carefully, it is Rob Christie at the piano doing an incredible job, he is the one speeding up and slowing down, in order to create musical tension, and color. At times he even stops playing completely in order to let her voice dominate. Don’t forget or minimize HIS contribution to the song. Everything Angelina does is intentional, she is an artist

It was nice to hear you react to another Angelina Jordan cover song! I always enjoy your insights and explanations. As others have stated, Angelina doesn't sing only the song, she sings the emotions within the song. I FEEL what she is singing, and that's what makes her unique in her interpretations. Rob Christie is also excellent on the piano. He is a two-time Grammy award winner, and he demonstrates that each time he accompanies Angelina.

makes it startling is that as the chameleon she is, Angelina is able to mimic nuance
and inflections that separated Amy from all other singers. Vocally, Angelina is much
more versatile than Amy, or any other singer for that matter, but you can detect bits
of Amy's style, including breaths, slurring and unorthodox changes to surprise the
listeners, who have set themselves thinking the simplicity they are hearing will continue
but it doesn't as it veers off in a different direction without pre-warning of change.
Amy was the originator of this ability, which marked her as the Queen Of Jazz, but
whereas Angelina wasn't the originator, she is the one who has taken it to a totally
different stratospheric level that sends her singing to the furthest recesses of the
human soul. She is now, and has been for some time, the reigning Queen Of Jazz,
and when you realize the fact that non-jazz singers are not able to reach the depths
of the human soul like a true jazz artist can, none are able to match the heartfelt level of
transference which Angelina is able to accomplish whenever she sings ballads like this.
I think Billie Holiday, Eta James, Nora Jones have in the past been much more clearly influencers on Angelina, though she has now developed her own unmistakeable voice and constantly comparing her to other artists now diminishes her artistry.
The problem with nowadays coaches don’t know about this. Can’t get more than the profesional soprano voice or mezzo, when the jazz contra alto raspy voice it was not accountable as how is supposed to be because is naturall pure talent just like Amy and also Adele got inspiration from. And the fact that Angelina is only 16 is extremely amazing. She not only mastered jazz before she was 12 but manage to incorporate her jazzy tone to modern pop music and style doing

in his You Tube Video titled - 'Is This Better Than Adele?', where he does
the most 'in depth' analysis of both Angelina and Adele singing Adele's
song 'Easy On Me', that you could imagine. He actually compares them,
section by section of the song, and comes to the conclusion that Angelina's
presentation is far better, more complex & penetrating, as well as how she
'out belt's' Adele with regard to the power section of the song. It is the most
mind boggling analysis I have ever heard a vocal coach perform but watch &
listen to it for yourself.

CECI, That was torture waiting for my favorite Angelina Jordan reactor to react to what l think is the best AJ performance to date. It's my opinion that her timid start to the song was intentional for the telling of the story and heartache. Adele wrote a brilliant song of pain and sadness, probably Billboards song of the year. I've listen to this performance many time and Angelina just created a masterpiece from a Adele's song. It's soulful and textured and as another reactor said " even her imperfections are perfect". I always look to your reactions. Thank you.

If you compare to Adele in that long ee-ee-ee-ee sequence. Adele has to pause and take a breath before the final "easy on me", Angelina does it all in one breath.
You are the first person who has noted that AJ performs the second chorus stronger and more full of passion. I don't know if it is intentional, but it is apparent in many of her songs. I absolutely adore this young, amazing. gifted artist. Thanks for picking up on so many of her intelligent and graceful nuances, that I wasn't aware of. Thank you for a good reaction and good analysis. Many keep saying that Angelina sings like Amy. In a way i say the reversed. Amy sang as Angelina. There is a lot of awsome singers in this world. But Angelina is one of the best. If you see the amount of covers she have done and she allways is concistant how she makes you feel the songs more then the original did.

Feel the same way at the end , her voice takes you on a wonderful journey and it always ends to soon. she always leaves us wanting more from the song another chorus would have been great. Angelina is very disciplined in how she handles a song never going beyond what is the normal length.

At a time when young singers especially girls, are singing about explicate non-sense we're blessed with a gifted young artist who is bringing beautiful classic music to generations of people who wouldn't have ever heard them. Se me metió en el alma una niña que tocaba en sus canciones temas que evidentemente no había experimentado por su corta edad, pero su sensibilidad hacía que expresara todos esos sentimientos de una manera conmovedora que solo una artista puede lograr. Ahora Angelina está entrando en una etapa de su vida en la que como es lógico, va a experimentar muchos cambios y le va a tocar decidir sobre las letras de sus canciones desde otra perspectiva. Pronto va a ser una mujer hecha y derecha y parece que a la "Industria Musical" le resulta más rentable las cantantes que sufren, las que cambian de pareja constantemente, las que usan drogas, las alcohólicas porque así producen más. "Easy On Me" es una canción donde la voz de Angelina está mejor que nunca, pero la letra es sobre una madre que le dice a su hijo que la perdone porque ella quiere ser libre y su familia es un fardo demasiado pesado. Además, ahora veo fotos y videos de Angelina llena de maquillaje y con una mirada sensual y provocativa que bien podría guardar para su pareja. Si amo a una niña de esa edad y me ve de esa manera y con tanto maquillaje, en mi caso particular es el momento de echar a correr. Me siento triste porque siento que Angelina se aleja de mí y no puedo hacer nada al respecto. Mi ángel está "creciendo", está "madurando". Quisiera verla con una familia consolidada, con hijos, feliz, con esa sonrisa que le sale del alma hasta que sea una anciana, cantándole al amor, a la paz, a la fraternidad, al entendimiento y parece que eso no vende tantos discos como cuando la vida de una cantante es un verdadero desastre. Veremos qué pasa. Que Dios la guarde.

I have also been listening a lot to another artist from your Barcelona. I am sure you are familiar with her as she is a samba/jazz composer and vocal artist who is as much of a musical force as our dear Angelina. Rita Payes is quite accomplished internationally at the ripe old age of 22. Her performances with her mother, an accomplished classical guitarist and with other musicians are so beautifully done. It is shocking with her video of her composition “nunca vas a comprender” to see her outside with the musicians as she sings, plays the guitar and, of course, her signature trombone. It is a couple of years old now, but I would love hear your technical reaction to her and to introduce her to your savvy viewers. My best to you!
