And also a kind of bad example that may be frowned upon these days yet a propaganda for tobacco company as we tried to keep kids from the lewres of cigerettes.
That song at the beginning is called: Richard Wagner - "Ride of the Valkyries". I remember that music for a little bit, but it's also heard in the Car chasing scenes from the movie: "Blues Brothers" (1980). Maybe i was joined on TH-cam since 2013 and i've never heard the same music before.
I'd heard, from an interview with veteran animator Willie Ito, that there was to be a spin-off series by Bob Clampett Productions of Thunderbolt the Wonder Colt! I wonder if any episodes were completed and exist before the Clampett company and studio were fored to close down when "THE BEANY & CECIL SHOW" was sadly not picked up for another season. Man, did I miss this show when it left the airwaves--a real trauma when I was a kid!
This is such a great episode..so many great touches....like when DJ contracts and pops back up when the elevator stops at the top floor...Would Cecil have been stuck in the mountain forever if Thunderbolt hadn't hurled DJ into the side of the mountain at the end?
Interestingly, Walker Edmiston had a recurring live-action role in the seventh and last season of Mission:Impossible, 1972-73, as a secret agent/ mimic.
Imagine if Walt Kelly had collaborated on a The Pogo Special Birthday Special with Bob Clampett instead of Chuck Jones? It probably wouldn't've been as sentimental and saccharine as Kelly grumbled.
@@yosefdemby8792 The trouble is, these legendary animators put their own stamp on everything to the point where real collaboration wasn't possible. Meantime, take a look at this. . . th-cam.com/video/IzJyFKVGeHk/w-d-xo.html
When I was much younger I thought that Hans Conreid was the voice of Thunderbolt..the WONDERCOLT [it's actually Walker Edminston..IMITATING Hans, whose OWN voice like that is filtered through John Carradine FROM JOHN BARRYMORE!!!!! THUNDERBOLT THE WONDERCOLT..BT W I truly hear KPM music here..inmost of it..]
You are probably thinking of the imfamous Go Man Van Gogh; seek out the BEANY & CECIL short, "THE WILD MAN OF WILDSVILLE"; lots of quick little adult asides, there. There was so much more to this series with its colorful supporting cast of characters. Li'l Homer was another example of a brilliantly conceived character, a baseball-loving baby octopus who, with his eight tentacles, is his own baseball team!
2:51- Parody of Ed Murrow (and his constant cigarette smoking) on "PERSON TO PERSON".

I remember as a kid in the fifties watching Thunderbolt the Wondercolt. Great. Thanks for sharing KTLA
The masks used at 4:25 have some resemblance to Bugs Bunny and Porky Pig... Good ol' Bob Clampett didn't forget his Looney Tunes days.

I won a t-shirt answering a question about Beany and Cecil. If I recall the question was about the boat and the captain.
COOL!

Definitely worthy of a horse-laugh.
The wordplay in this is almost Pogo-like.

Walker used the same voice (as "J. Montague Gypsum") in his only "FLINTSTONES" episode, "This is Your Lifesaver".
Yes, I know.
Who was the beatnik in this series?
"Go Man Van Gogh"
