I have wired my Eufy but the battery died which cause the unit to die. I am wondering what I did wrong and why is the unit relying on the battery when it is wired..

With this doorbell, the existing chime will no longer work. I wireless, plugin chime is included with the doorbell.

is the plugin Eufy chime required? Can the doorbell work with the existing hardwired chime only?

The existing hardwired chime will not longer work. You have to use the included plugin chime.
