I’d say good eye! I got 59! I paused when said if anyone wanted to do so an count. I did out of curiosity. Hit play after and he stated he got 58-60. So we’re both spot on bud!

Just kidding, I got 55. It was getting a little hard at the outer edge and I admit I started guessing if it was a line or not!

You are poetry in motion bringing these trees down Chris getting 20+ ton trees to go more or less where you want them, another great video thanks Chris.

I froze the video and counted several times and the best number I could clearly count of the tree rings from the stump is 54. The pond could have been there for many years before the tree sprouted and began to grow. But still 54 years would take it back to the mid 1960s which is still pretty cool.

it gets really confusing in the last 10 years or so when the growth rings are much smaller, but definitely somewhere around 54 to 58

    Nice big pine!
A quick fact you might be interested in.........
In New Zealand, "Pinus radiata" is an introduced tree which grows exceptionally well.
A tree that size would take 20-25 years to grow.
They are then felled and the majority of the logs are exported whole by ship.
Which is why we have some of the largest man made forests in the world.
Like you vids, keep up the good work.
    Respect for NZ.

Ain't nothing fast about that , when you have to dig them up, drop them , drag umm , and cut them all up by yourself !! lolol... Takes a minute ... But, you got a good hole in it now , should be able to move a little better now. Coming right a long now Chris !! Great as always Man !! Have a Great Evening... On too the Next !!

I am just a viewer but here are my top videos, fire, water, and ponds. Also, love watching you take down trees. That was one nice pine, around my grandparents house was planted by his grandfather ponderosa pines about 30 in a row lining the drive that wraps around the house to the back then continues then makes a 90 to the equipment barn it protects the house from the winter winds in upstate NY. That is almost as big as those

Chris, yes I counted 56 growth rings but trees sometimes have two growth rings (autumn/spring-summer) growth in a year depending on moisture/temperature seasons available though was next to water. Being on water would say are true 56-60 years old. Hard cambium layer is caused by drier/slow times and soft cambium layer quick growth time.

I count of 54 years :) that is a good spot for the tree if it could grow a half inch a year! The skinnier outer ones were also because it is getting to be so large, it takes more to grow each year since the surface area (cumcomferance) is wider, and the tree is taller!

Hi Chris, does the pond have an island 🏝 in it, (off to the right - as you look from your last shot), or is it a crescent 🌙 shape?
The trees that you can't make planed lumber from, do you make bark chips - for use in gardens for mulching weeds? Or is it just burnt off?
