Really the better tip is that the company should of spent more R&D into it and designed a better grip. A different texture literally makes a huge difference.
So 4 dollars for a metal tin seems to be a little high I have used a saftey razor for sometime and just like my dad and grandad we have a old metal can punch a hole in the top and drop in the old blades this is my modern safety feature my dad and grandad just used a soup can once it got full we would take it to the scrap metal guy when we made a trip for "soda" cans or scrap iron
This is an excellent review! Im currently looking at various offerings from Leaf right now for both face and body, and your long term review was a huge help.
Love my Leaf razor, but the Leaf blades are garbage lol. They dull very fast and aren’t the sharpest things around by far. I’ll keep the ones I have for emergency spares, but will load it with King E Gillettes from now on. They’re pricey, but worth it.
Thank you for this amazing review! Nobody could convince me enough to make the switch and you did. 🤩 Ordered my Leaf razor kit. Can’t wait to use it!!!! ❤
I dunno why but whenever I dry shave with store bought plastic razors I get INSANE reaction, like full blown allergy. With metal razors it's nonexistent. With plastic rasors and foam or water it's nonexistent too.
seconds ago Can I ask a question? What are the best blades to buy for this razor. For some reason the single edge blades I bought do not completely lay flat. I have watched loading videos and I have made sure that the blades are secured in the notches on the side but they bow out in the center until I have flattened them with the screw, it's almost as if the blades are too long. The Leaf brand blades fit fine and go in easily so I am very confused. Has anyone else encountered this? Did I just get an off brand? Any advice would be appreciated.
It's compatible with any standard double edge razor blades, like all double edge razors. You can buy 100 count packs of double edge razor blades for as little as 10 dollars online.
I'm in the same boat. i want it, because i know its more cost efficient over time, but i usually luck out and find the gift pack of a generic brands gillette fusion knock off. Like $15 for both the handle and like 48 cartridges. I'm just now down to my last 5 after 3 years. And i have another one after that. Its just hard to see the value in this over what i got now.
i bought the leaf razor some time ago but never got around to using it till now. question is, after how many shaves should we throw away or retire one blade?
The worst razor I’ve ever used. It’s too slippery that I couldn’t use it in the shower and the blades that Leaf sent me with this razor were poorly made. For a $120 I was expecting something better 😡
@@KrystynaSvonits honestly the best thing i’ve ever used, using all three blades or even just the first and second blade slots it gives me a smooth and clean shave, i personally haven’t had any cuts or scars or razor burns. 10/10 would recommend!
$85 plus shipping is a ridiculous amount of money. We desperately need plastic free Alternatives like this and the fact that they're not making affordable for everybody is despicable. Leaf really cares more about profits and they do the environment. This razor should not cost more than $30 plus shipping
Schick now makes a bamboo razor that you can swap the heads on. The heads seem to still be made of plastic but 75% of the steel in the blades are from recycled sources.
@@davebrock6618 Plenty of other companies machine $10-15 safety razors at high production all while providing free shipping. It isn't like the thing is made out of literal gold. It's maybe 50 cents in steel
Sounds like Leaf's just jumped on the eco-bandwagon grift. Every safety razor since, um, forever, produces little waste, and carbon dioxide is your friend; I don't worry about it, and neither should you. Don't bother buying some ridiculous tiny box to store old blades, cut a slit in the top of any old jar and fill it up; I've been working on filling the same old baking powder jar for years. Once its done, most pharmacies have a sharps box you can put them in. I don't think I'd put them in the recycling for fear that some unsuspecting guy sorting the recycling would get cut.
You can get a free biohazard waste bin in any pharmacy (normally for needles and such), and the pharmacy will take it when it is full.
You can also use a rubber band as a grip
Great tip!

@@MrMega200 thanks for the tip... don’t think it helps anyone here but nice.
@@NoMoreQQ just saying. Hundreds of other razors have designs that work. Who do you think popular razors have rubber grips?

Fantastic razor, best head shaver on planet Earth, completely environmental friendly

You should try Gillette platinum. They are also very good. But cheaper.
Try Asta Super Platinum. A package of 100 blades is not expensive, ans they are very well rated by DE razor community

You're not supposed to dry shave. That's part of why you get a reaction. Your skin NEEDS water and lubrication.
Obviously not. The culprit was an ingredient in that lubrication strip that foams when you get it wet. @@scootcha
This was great! Thank you!

So this razor takes double edge blades that are snapped in half. double edge blades are smaller than single edge blades
Great review, “we’re all friends here”, lol I love it.
Do you have to use their razors or is there an alternative?

Defender Razor FTW. Cheaper and the best hands down
How is it shaving “sensitive” areas? My wife uses a DE but it gives her razor rash on her sensitive areas so she wants me to find something else.
Wow, great review! Thank you!

6 shaves
Until you feel the blade becomes dull and starts pulling basically.
How long does the blades last before replacing them?
That's very dependent on the blade you use
I didn't know I was supposed to break the blade while it was in the paper. I've been taking the blade out first and then breaking it
Well explained. Thx
Pro tip, put isopropyl alcohol on the whole thing.
why?
Nice video
I just have a coffee can that I throw my blades in
