  • In this video, I compare a widely used Lock-n-Lube coupler to a less expensive Saker locking grease gun coupler and give you my opinion on whether or not you should buy this product and save a few dollars.

I had a locknlube and on my excavator once in a while the pressure would build quite high before it would flow. I experienced some seepage of grease from around the fingers of the LnL coupler because they are spring steel and are extended out of the tube when locked on. The only force keeping them in the zerk in the spring tension. When I first saw an add for the Saker I found it interesting that when this design grabs the zerk it has the outer tube of the coupler supporting it and wondered if maybe it would work better under higher pressures. That would be a great experiment for someone that took the time to set up gauges and test the pressure at which each of these loose seal. Thanks for the video. Nice to see it works well under normal conditions.

You’re welcome. These locking couplers are great but not for every application. I am convinced that on a couple of pieces of machinery that I have owned that there is an engineer laughing somewhere thinking of me trying to get onto a grease fitting.

Hi Darrin. Great review. Maybe you can do a follow up review in a year or two on this fitting. I was thinking that the diameter was a little big, but glad it worked for you. Have a good one!

I’ve used a Lock and Lube for a few years and am disappointed.
I have a problem with the L&L leaking and attaching to the zerks.

Thanks for the review Darrin. I currently use a Dewalt 20v electric grease gun. The problem I have is the gun gets locked onto the zert and I can't get it off. I accidently broke a zert off on my brush hog recently. I'm thinking the grease gun attachment may prevent that in the future. Thanks for sharing.

These types of couplers are great but not always able to get into tight spots. I have been thinking about getting a battery powered unit. The convenience is great.
