I didn't stray too much from the original track in this one, there is already so much going on that I decided to just go with the flow and play the phrases that Dominic Howard wrote, that already compliment the song so well.
There are a few fills here and there that I loooove, though.. like I mentioned in the BTS video of this cover, I improvise 99% of my fills.. so I'm always surprised when they sound good :) FUN song, as always with Muse.

you add more "colors" to the song. the original one is darker. love your fills and your interpretation on this. making me having another option of interpretation and possibilities to offer to my band mates. thanks Cobus. love the original song while loving your version also.
Whoever his drum tech (if it's not him) and sound engineer is, they are amazing at their jobs. He's using Samson mics on his toms and from what I know, they're mid-range, not high in quality like Shure's high end stuff, but they sound amazing in Cobus' videos.

3:47 - had to watch that a few times. you always do have cool linear fills but that one was just so smooth and tasty.

Never seen that brand of cymbals before, honestly though not a fan of their sound. They seem weak and die out to quick. Cobus is awesome though.
I agree, there's just no sustain to their sound, and a song like this needs more aggressive symbols. I love the rest of his kit though, and a great cover.
that brand is called TRX, i personally really like their sound, but cobus switched to sabian anyways.

Indeed, and this is why he can make N'sync sound like the most amazing band ever. It's a cover, which means he creates something else with the song, not replicate what Dom Howard does.

I'd like to sum up the negative comments on this video. Bear in mind I have been watching your video's from the beginning, and have the utmost respect for you for getting as far as you have!
With this cover, it feels like you haven't really listened to the song before you played it. The fills you playing, whilst good, aren't appropriate most of the time, and the act to take all sense of dynamics out of the song, and take any climax/break out of the song. More to say, not enough space to do it!

I've been trying to figure out why this series doesnt have as good a viewing sensation as his earlier series and i see all the time oh i miss the old cobus and stuff like that. its the same cobus i think i finally got it. Cobus doesnt look like he's enjoying it as much anymore. He doesnt look like he wants to explode with happyness anymore. and I dont see him smile nearly as much like he did in his older videos.
People that don't play drums really don't understand how complicated making random fills can be. Great Job cobus!

If you look in all the other videos from this series, his shirt and trousers are the exact same, suggesting he does all the recording in one or two days, then edits and brings them out separately, just like you would on an album, record all at once then edit and show separately, he's not a smelly gorilla smashing a kit every now and then! :D
