Hey everyone, I had a tough time downloading and uploading this video. For whatever reason my editing software would not download the "fully" edited final version and kept leaving the "Title" caption at 19:55. Here is what that section should have: Voice of Hope - Ren - Lights flicker (in order of sequence). Thank you to everyone who pushed for this video! I was impressed with the acting, storytelling, rapping, singing, and videography. Truly a breath of fresh air.
BTW... Ren is very much so Pro Reactors! He Wants y'all to monetize his videos! If you ever get an automated strike... dispute it... he will personally white list ya so you can fully monetize his works from then on!
This was a one-take video. It took four times before they got this one. No cuts/edits in his performance. Ren is the master of one-take videos!👍🏼 Loved your appreciation and insight for Ren's talent.
Ren did 4 one takes, no cuts, just multiple camera angles. He picked this one as his favorite of the 4 but this was a one take..... He's amazing!!!! His background is going through hell, so this is first person perspective.
@@The_Sound_Doctor1957 Agreed - and although impactful it was technically not part of the "song". People are so quick to try and diminish the amazing talent of this 1 take video. It's like they can't allow someone to be that good.
Ren did not cut out the breathing in this, Ren has phenomenal breath control, blessed with an iron lung, it allows him to play with vocal ranges in ways most people could only dream of.
@@RhythmPlanetMusicexactly what I thought I watched this video and her her thoughts that the breaths were edited out . Please put another comment w the link to the LIVe Version of Hi Ren that he did at a theatre in front of an audience . This proves beyond a doubt that its possible to do a performance like this in one take .
The lights flicker with the dark Ren is in control, but not when Ren/Hope are in control. But the ending when he's become one, the lights flicker when he plays. Because the dark side is always part of you, always with you. But it doesn't have to control you.
@@jessicasopranonoteshe's a Master at one take videos! As a busker on the streets of Brighton UK he's 100% a showman, unlike Any artist I've ever seen in my 40 plus years of performing!!!
Ren and more ren please !❤ Also check out Sam Tompkins and Chinchilla 😍 They are all off the charts amazing artists. If you want more of another theatrical from ren definitely do Tale of Jenny and Screech ( full version) Ren and Chinchilla: Chalk Outline, How to be me (live) Sam Tompkins: lose it all, time will fly, see me Chinchilla: Fingers,( live) Little girl gone ( live) Thank you❤
Ren with the iron lung--I assure you this was all done live and with no cuts. He references his iron lung in "Illest of our Time" actually as "blessed with an iron lung." I enjoyed your reaction extremely and welcome to the Ren rabbit hole! He has a vast back catalog of excellence to explore. Have fun!
Yes, it is one take - but that doesn't mean some breadths couldn't have been cut in production. I never noticed this, but if Jdessica's ear is as good as she says, it's possible.
@@briantrip5022 - It's YOU who didn't catch the part where she acknowledged "Leaving the background noise in" when Ren transitioned. The fact that she didn't dwell on what is actually a MINOR part of this performance doesn't mean that she was oblivious to it... It's pretty clear to anyone who performs, that this is "live" (not performed over a track). That being said, this is no more "live" than any other studio performance. Every studio take is "LIVE" as it's being performed. Learn what you are talking about... Yeah, it was performed from beginning to end (after multiple attempts), but it WAS edited and post produced, while still being considered as a "one-take". apparently, it's you who's ears (and eyes) aren't "that good".
Currently has the number one album in the UK, without a record label, management, live shows, radio play or mainstream interviews and promotion. Just you tube and reaction channels.
Great reaction and analysis. I would also recommend "Chalk Outlines" and/or "How to be Me" with Chinchilla. Also, Chinchilla by herself is worth a listen. Fingers" live, "Little Girl Gone" are two good ones. Ren has quite a catalog of music videos to select from, solo, collaboration with others or with the band, "The Big Push." It would also be good to look into his background to understand what he has gone through, and is still battling with. It will help to put some of his songs and lyrics into perspective.
Agreed with above, he also recommended "Asaf Avidan - In A Box III - 900 Days" live worth a watch and I was blown away and think you would also like him.
Definitely pick the Live version of Chalk Outlines. The studio version is good, but his and Chinchilla's voices on the live one will absolutely blow you away / and if you liked this videography, you'll love that one too
14:00 Part of Ren's background is as a busker, so he's absolutely used to entertaining audiences with more than just his voice. His cover of "I shot the Sheriff" is an example of some of his street entertaining.
I love that the carefree yodelling singing bookends the song. But when you first hear it it is unsettling and dark and when you last hear it, it's pure joy and all the lights are flickering but Ren is at peace with it.
agreed.. at the beginning, many are taken by surprise.. weird looks... they laugh and think its oddball, kooky.. almost making fun of it....... and when he hits it at the end, they are in it, with him, it is rejoicing, its empowering, its a wordless sound and song of overflowing expression of self.. and they cheer it/him along.. i see it every time.. I've watched this song probably 40-50 times now over a span of a year or so... Twice, my eyes were not leaking. only twice. it nails me EVERY time.
The Tale of Jenny and Screech (Full) will really Wow you with his story telling, and acting. Great reaction and insightful breakdown, thanks! Just subbed👍 P.S. If you ever get a copyright strike for a Ren video, just send Ren a message and he'll fix it. He loves reactors.😊
Welcome to the Ren rabbit hole, it runs deep, but is a wonderful journey! Nope, no post production, I know, I had a hard time believing it myself, as I have a little background in studio and sound engineering. This was recorded 100% live, one take, 3 camera angles, It took them 4 tries to get it, but what you saw was one take, the only cut they made post production was between the song and the spoken word part at the end. Up until very recently, most of his videos are done with just Ren and his buddy, and incredible videographer, Sam, and they pride themselves on doing it live in one take, though it often takes them many attempts. Ren had a development deal with an agent who worked under Sony's umbrella when he was 17, he was discovered "busking" which is U.K. slang for street performing, and quite popular in certain cities like Brighton, where Ren spent his teen years, he's originally from Wales. He fell ill shortly after the deal and had to back out. He spent the next 8 years undiagnosed and eventually the medical community telling him it was all in his head, He spent years on experimental drugs, and agonizing pain, at it's worst, he spent several years in his early 20s spending 23hrs a day in bed, and just taking a shower caused him excruciating pain. He has stated at this point, he was convinced he'd never see the age of 30. He's now 34 or soon to be 34. Luckily due to his own determination and research, he stumbled on a doctor about 5hrs north of him, that he had sent all his medical records and labs to, who said he knew what Ren had, but wanted to run tests to be certain. After a quick go-fund-me campaign he traveled north to the doctor who eventually confirmed Ren had Lyme disease. Ren was ecstatic to finally have a diagnosis, the problem was, doctors had never treated a patient that suffered from Lyme disease for so long (7-8 years) without diagnosis or treatment, people perished or were diagnosed before that time. So the disease had done a number on not just his mental health, but his muscle mass and bone structure, so Ren hopped back on the research wagon, and started doing music again. As luck would have it, a kid in Florida who was into small independent artists, was a fan of Ren's, and his dad just so happened to be a surgeon on the cutting edge of stem cell research. He told Ren if he could get to Florida that he could stay with his family and he'd do the stem cell surgery on Ren free of charge, but that there was no guarantee it would work. Another go-fund-me and Ren was off to the states, the surgery was painful but after 6mos of recovery Ren's muscle mass and bone density returned to almost normal. That was 4-5 years ago, he is still not out of the woods completely and still has bad days, but life is much much better for him. He's currently doing on again off again treatment in Canada, at a clinic that specializes in autoimmune disorders, where they put you on crazy amounts of natural vitamins, do neuro treatments to repair damaged synapses in brain and neuro pathways, and find a diet for the patients that best keeps away any future issues, and allows a better homeostasis for your bodies immune system. Sorry for the ramble, but now you are caught up on Ren's health issues, and I will let you discovery his musical past and future journey on your own, I've been playing or a part of music my entire life, I am 53yrs old, and I have never seen a person with such a diverse set of talents when it comes to all things music, in all genres, and he's completely self taught. You truly are in for a treat exploring his catalogue further. I REALLY REALLY enjoyed your break down and synopsis of this song, very unique, intelligent and informative, keep up the great work, I REALLY look forward to checking out more of your content!! Cheers!! ✌️💚
Really enjoyed your perspective and analysis of Hi Ren. It took me quite a few listens to pick up just some of that so kudos! The complete Tale of Jenny, Screech and Violet should be next. Thanks!
His Videographer is Sam Perry-Falvey. Just the other day, Joe E. Sparks did a good long interview with him and Sam explains a lot about his team and his process. It's a great watch.
Having seen him do this live, I promise you there is no post production trickery! It’s breath control, pure & simple, just like Beatboxing, didgeridoo playing, you can either do it, or you can’t ! Dimash also has extraordinary breath control, holding 24-27 second notes!
Great reaction! Loved your perspective and the unique things you noticed! As a vocalist, id love to see you react to Chalk Outlines (the live version) if you want some more Ren singing the entire song :)
@@jessicasopranonotes When you listen to Chalk Outlines ( Live ), you are in for a real treat, the discovery of another genius performer and one of the most amazing vocalists I have ever heard, CHINCHILLA - Listen to her live version of FINGERS : th-cam.com/video/KK56SwMFzdc/w-d-xo.htmlsi=KuEHfOEzuBcCzUZi I am certain you will be impressed by this outstanding young lady 🙏
It was done live, it was one take with different camera angles but this take that they decided on was actually the 4th take I believe. You can tell it’s live, it would be impossible to match this video accurately with a separate audio recording. Everything he releases, or that I have seen so far, is in this same format. Check out him ‘busking’ with his band ‘the big push’ ( I am from the UK & assumed everyone was aware of the term ‘busking’, but apparently not so in the US. It is basically performing for free on street corners etc)
Performed live by Ren, in one take with multiple cameras. Took a total of 4 attempts before he was happy with it. He is extremely talented and I'm so happy to see him getting exposure and recognition. He deserves it.
Thank you for your insights and and breakdown on this very special piece of music. Love how you talked about voice control and you had me smiling when you thought that his breathing might have been edited out. Nope. Ren is “blessed with an iron lung” as he says in one of his songs. I also appreciate you mentioning his acting skills. All self taught and honed during his days busking on the streets of Brighton. I’m a new subscriber and will be watching for more.
Nice breakdown! Whether you choose to do any other Ren works or not, I would recommend the "Tales of Jenny and Screech". In a similar vein style-wise, each person has their own unique signature.
I love your breakdown. Fantastic! You are going to enjoy the Ren rabbithole. He has a.mazing breath control. His acting is awesome. He really dives deep into the characters. Read his backstory. He has had a hard battle in health, mental and physical, for the last 13-14 years and is finally seeing the rewards.
Great reaction. As an opera singer, I expected you to appreciate the theatre, the drama, the performance. As already mentioned in the comments, his trilogy of Jenny and Screach is another masterclass in storytelling. Cheers 🙂
20:31 he’s relaxing here, allowing both sides to participate and dancing with them just as he later says. he’s previewing that explanation here to us in the music.
The recording is untouched as it was played live straight through. It took 4 takes before he got it to this point. Ren is simply just incredible. I have been following him the last 9 months or so and I have watched HUNDREDS of reaction videos of Ren as I love seeing how everyone's perspective of the song, it's meanings, it's story telling, the pure roller coaster of emotions. I too being a musician caught a lot of the things you did upon the first play such as the cadence when (as I refer to it as) the dark and the light side. The dark side was more heavy handed with percussive hits on the strumming hand, the softer touch and smoother voice when in the light. When the video starts after the Pig man walks off... you can see two shadows being cast in each direction. One is darker than the other and it was done intentionally for the monologue part at the end where he says The brighter the light shown, the darker shadow it casts. I loved this reaction and hit subscribe. I look forward to diving into some of your other videos as well. I have some music I have written/covered on my channel too. Hope this finds you well
Yes! Another opera singer reactor to follow! The algorithm has done me right. I loved your analysis of this piece. Especially the fact you caught on to the “reality check” at the end. A lot of reactors seem to think it’s just good vs. evil, good wins, the end. I get so frustrated that they miss the entire message that life isn’t just black and white, good vs evil, etc… I like to refer to the voices as “negative inner voice”, “unhelpful positive inner voice”, and the third “accepting inner voice” which understands that we all will experience times of euphoria and happiness, times of depression and anxiety, and everything in between. In fact right before the negative inner voice goes haywire, you can hear the unhelpful positive voice getting frustrated in tone. Can’t wait to view more of your videos.
No one does analysis like you. I was soooo happy to see you finally came to Ren. I've watched tons and tons of reactions and some very good detailed analysis but yours is the best. Please check out other Ren videos. They're all amazing and very different. To answer your question about background, a lot is self-taught (he specifically credits Michael Palmieri) and he attended the Bath School of Music and Performing Arts. He did a lot of busking on the streets of Brighton where he got lots of experience. He comes from a musical family and his father plays 12th Century music and has a few videos on TH-cam. The medieval influence can definitely be heard there. Ren is 33 now and has videos going all the way back to 15 years old.
New sub here, I'm here for any and all Ren reactions. As a 53 year old music lover my whole life, Ren has reconfigured my mind for the better and REN-EWED my heart & soul by making me really hear music for the 1st time in my life! Great reaction! 😊 what an amazing journey awaits you!
Trust the stranger on the interweb... his breath control and range is Unreal!!! Coming from a guitarist/musician of 40 plus years... ive never seen anyone like him!!! Youve truly just fell into the deepest rabbit hole on the interweb!!! From Rap to Rock, from Pop to Reggae, to his own genre called Bardcore... made-up by his fans... he crosses Genres with ease and perfection! I beg you to dig into the RENaissance and prepare to be blown away! Im sure Thousands of fans will recommend tracks... so ill just suggest one! Jenny and Screech trilogy (Full Version a Must!) should be the next in your journey! Also... he did this in 3.5 takes... getting kicked out of the property during 4th take! He choose the 3rd try using one audio and the 3 different video angles to make this Masterpiece! FYI... pick any 10 random tracks aside from this and the Tales... and you might find two that are similar!!! Seriously... buckle up! Especially when reacting to him and his band... the Big Push, and the many duets hes done!!! Seriously... DEEP!!!! Lol
Hey Jess, great reaction. Love having your insight. I think next from Ren you should be looking into either "Chalk Outlines" or "How to be Me" live with chinchilla, or his live version of "for joe". For more storytelling, "The tale of Jenny and Screech" is also fantastic.
Your reactions are just SO good! You pick up on some of the nuances that I haven't heard any other reactor mention. I've watched Hi Ren maybe a hundred times and you made me appreciate it in a whole new way. In terms of what else to listen to, PLEASE react to Ren's duets with Chinchilla. There are live versions of Chalk Outlines and How to Be Me. Both will give you a whole new side of Ren and his vocal abilities. Then, listen to Chinchilla's solo stuff. I think you will be blown away by Fingers (Live).
FYI... he makes and produces all his own music! Directs all his videos! A multi-instrumentalist who is truly changing the music game single handedly!!! Things to know about Ren... perfection is Not best... he thrives at one takes, unfiltered/unedited music! Missing notes, off key here and there, equals Ren greatness if ya ask me! From topics no one would touch, including song titles, to releasing tracks without using autotune etc... Hes given this 40 plus year musician such a Massive new outlook to music and performance!! Ren is truly off the charts good!!! I cannot wait to see more Ren from ya! Trust the stranger on the interweb... youre gonna be blown away!!!!
Good evening Jess, I first saw Hi REN @ 3 months ago...... I'm an older man in his 50's and as you can imagine have a classic rock background. I have since watched dozens of reaction videos to this song as others from Ren, but I feel only a handful have had the keen insight, and ear to analyze it as deeply as you've shown. Thank you for that . I'm looking forward to seeing/ hearing more of your reactions. ~ J
2 hours in and 125 comments...welcome to the Renaissance....as rabid a fan base as Nightwish...as a 56 yr old I haven't been this impressed and obsessed with a new artist since Pink Floyd. Rapper, singer, musician, actor....all joints different, all unquestionably recognizable as him, and all raw and honest...as crazy as I know this sounds, he may be the most exciting artist out there right now
Oh man, I've seen dozens of these - but I've never had my attention drawn to the different voices each guitar uses. THANK YOU for this fresh take. Subbed.
OMG! Such an amazing and thoughtful analysis. Thank you so much! Also highly recommend "How to Be Me" (with Chinchilla), "Chalk Outlines" (live) (also with Chinchilla), "Murderer" (live), "The Hunger", "For Joe" ... well, heck, anything that Ren has done, both solo, in partnership with others like Sam Tompkins, and with his band, The Big Push. I think you will enjoy diving down the Ren rabbit hole, and I eagerly look forward to more of your insightful reactions.
This is my 1st visit to your channel Jess and I absolutely LOVED your analysis of Ren's classic. Hopefully you will explore more of Ren and help me amongst others to find his limits (I don't think he has any). The Triplet of "The tales of Jenny and Screech" would be a great one for us to see you analyse
This is genius level art... a stream of inspiration into the human experience... thanks for taking this on SN!! love your courageous choice of art....you go girl!!! then you share the musical insights we so often completely miss...the reptilian "hiss" is pure genius...and the "voice of hope" is a light at the end of such a long dark tunnel!
There's hundreds of reaction videos for this song. Yours is easily in the top 3 in my opinion, as far as breaking down each aspect of the performance. 👏🏽👏🏽
Great reaction! Ren is one of the most talented musicians ever! As others have said, this is a live, one-take video. His breath control is really just that good. Looking forward to more Ren reactions ❤
I don’t know if he removed any breaths but he IS a master of breath control and can hold his breath for 3 and a half minutes. He follows Wim Hoff with breathing exercises to reduce inflamation in his body ..plus ice baths. He does have Lyme disease, autoimmunity and Mcas also the damage done fromv7 years of misdiagnosis. I don’t think he cut out any breathing. We do often discuss his lung capacity😂 He does an acousticl ive version of Animal Flow sitting in the back seat of a moving bus that is epic. Think you woukd love the Tales of Jenny and Screech FULL.
I love your format! Your face is so emotive but doesn't look like you're exaggerating on purpose, which is beautiful. I'm assuming that's your choice at the end and WOW! Gorgeous! Thank you so much for the wonderful cards on the screen spelling it out for those of us that learn so much better when given multiple types of input.
Ren is the king of the one take videos. It’s not necessarily the first take but he does a lot of his videos in one take, no cuts. The man has super powers. Well done on catching some of the more subtle touches that make the performance even more special. I’m sure ppl will fill you in on his whole history but he speaks as a person who has been through quite a lot. I’ve never seen an artist more authentic and free to be himself.
im sure youve been told by now, this is a live one take. the videos were shot 4 times for the different camera angles, but the audio is one live take (the 4th, i believe)
I love this song so much. Ren is amazing. One bit you'll probably appreciate is that he really likes reactors - he links to them on his page when someone reacts to one of his songs. He was diagnosed in like 2014 with Lyme disease. ...unfortunately, he actually *got* Lyme disease several years earlier, and had endured years of misdiagnosis, and mistreatment, leading to episodes of psychosis and chronic fatigue that kept him bedridden up to 23 hours a day. He had been on track to release an album for Sony, but they dropped him when he got ill. I don't know how, but he kept fighting for a doctor that could help him, and he's finally getting better. His new album drops in like 2 weeks! I've already bought it. He's completely independent now - no label. You might like "Sick Boi" as a song to react to. An artist that I love that hasn't gotten much attention from the reactor community is Julia Fordham. Probably "Porcelain" is a good place to start, though my personal favorite song of hers is "Falling Forward".
Accurate except that I believe that he was diagnosed with Lyme disease in 2018. He had been diagnosed with other things, some were misdiagnoses or symptoms or other diseases that can occur concurrent with Lyme disease. I think he was diagnosed with chronic fatigue syndrome in 2014….
Love your reaction video! You catched sooo much. I loved how the 2 lights behind him made 2 shadows of one person. Kinda showing the multiple sides from one. Love this work of art. The whole damn thing. Masterpiece.
Welcome to the rollercoaster of Ren.. you are in for a wonderful treat when you react to more of his videos and his music. REN fans “RENegades” will be more the. Answer questions that you have.. he has a die hard fan base and he is such a talent that you are going to enjoy.. this particular video is a live one take session that took him a total of four tries to film and get thru. He and his good friend Sam have such a vision of how a simple video and music can touch people. Can’t express how much of his music has touched millions and can’t wait till you see and hear more
Oh wow!!! This was an amazing analysis. I knew I loved it before I saw it. You catch all the most minute and relevant details. If you are open to suggestions, there is a live video of Ren busking with his band "The Big Push." He's wearing red suspenders in the video I'm thinking of where he sings parts of, "I Shot The Sheriff", "The Road to Zion" and "Hip Hop." It's a whole other side to his musicality and leadership. (Not every band leader does it so smoothly.)
Having spent the majority of 10yrs ill, and several of them bedridden, he had a great amount of time on his hands. Somewhere in his interviews with reactors or his live streams he mentions spending time seeing how long he could hold his breathe. Eventually getting to holding it 3+ minutes, with ease. also, the mic on his collar is the main mic, in this 1 - take video. He is also self taught on guitar, using youtube videos. He plays 6 different instruments with zero lessons.
Thank you for this fantastic analysis! Wow I learned so much from you. I am not remotely musically inclined so hearing you talk abou about breathing, pauses, all of that was so educational. Oh I hope you do Ren's Jenny and Screech full version - just full of fascinating things he does with character, voices, emotion, intimation, pulling you right into the story and OMG his guitar playing is phenomenal - it all blows my mind. Thanks again for this review!
You did such a thorough examination of this performance. I really enjoyed it. Your perspective and knowledge is great. I hope you've had a chance to look at some of his other work, I'm sure you would appreciate it. He has insane breath control.
Great reaction Jess! I am subbing to your channel. See how Ren's process developed by taking a peak at his busking here with his group. It is an amazing recording worthy of another beautiful reaction from you: The Big Push - I Shot the Sheriff/Road to Zion/Hip Hop
Thank you for a wonderful and insightful reaction. You appear to have spotted many things in your first viewing that I didn't notice until about the tenth or twelfth time of watching this masterwork of performance art.
Bravo for taking the time and really paying attention to so many details and actually try to understand all the moving pieces as one big whole. You interpreted it so cohesively within the message of the piece. I rarely see anyone so attentive to every little detail not only on youtube but in real life. I love your approach.
Jessica I've watched dozens of Ren reactions and yours is one of the best I've seen. Very in depth and very observant. I discovered Ren about 10 months ago and I've been totally fixated with the guy, he's like a breath of fresh air. Looking forward to you reacting to more of this amazingly talented lyrical genius ❤️
I keep watching these reactions and one thing keeps happening throughout most people , after he is finished speaking there is a waiting stare into the video as to say - more- more - more . Outstanding explanation , thank you for sharing . . .
Great reaction! I agreed with most of what you said, and just wanted to expand on one thing. I think the non-word singing at the beginning and the end is kind of like opening himself for us to see the internal struggle against himself, then him bringing it back together at the end. I think that is why the the lights didn't flicker for the first part, but they flickered for the last part.
I adore Ren and every other song of his I want everyone to hear him! You did a wonderful job putting the pieces of this song together musically. Thank you, I really appreciate it ❤
So ive watched probably 50 of the hi ren reactions.. i really enjoyed uour analysis and how you went back and had the description bubbles for the specific scenes about which you were speaking. There is one clear cut in this video. I love Ren and his one take video style and this is a masterpiece but, it is not a true one take.
At least 3 cameras lead to a cut in editting! Your comment is petty!
@@damonscott4933the audio is one take. They did one cut at the very end because they used a different monologue but that's it.

This is correct.. I need to go find the link to the on stage performance.. that should shut this nonsense down..)
Yeah, listen to his last note on Love Music three. It’s a single continuous run that lasts like 30 seconds and seems impossible.
@@MelFinehout his breath control is almost legendary, up there with Freddy Mercury and Bruce Dickinson.

The lights flicker with the dark Ren is in control, but not when Ren/Hope are in control. But the ending when he's become one, the lights flicker when he plays. Because the dark side is always part of you, always with you. But it doesn't have to control you.

I enjoyed your reaction extremely and welcome to the Ren rabbit hole! He has a vast back catalog of excellence to explore. Have fun!
In one of his old IG videos he used to practice holding his breath during covid. I think he got up to 3 minutes.
Yes, it is one take - but that doesn't mean some breadths couldn't have been cut in production. I never noticed this, but if Jdessica's ear is as good as she says, it's possible.
@avdude10 she didnt even caught on that it was live performance, her ear isnt that good
@@briantrip5022 - It's YOU who didn't catch the part where she acknowledged "Leaving the background noise in" when Ren transitioned.
It would be pretty pointless to mic up and plug in if he was just going to re-record it in a studio. Or did you miss that part too?
The studio version is good, but his and Chinchilla's voices on the live one will absolutely blow you away
/ and if you liked this videography, you'll love that one too
Yes absolutely I agree with these suggestions! CRUTCH is also an amazing song!
"Chalk Outlines" will blow your mind.
Oh, you are going to love the rest of Ren's music videos, I can tell. Thank you for your reaction to this video!
You bet!
Jessica, I can't say anything I haven't said before...thank you for granting us your insight so we can appreciate the music even more. A big hug
You're always so kind. Thank you, Javier. I do enjoy having you in the premieres. Hugs
Pretty cool how the opening vocals sound odd and a little goofy, but by the end the same vocals turn into an epic song of victory
OMG, you did it.
This is going to be great, I cannot wait.
Yes, thank you for recommending this video. It was great!
Ren has amazing breath control. In one of his "Love Music" songs, he does a 16 second vocal run with no breath.
Tom Macdonald crushes this.... he can go a minute non stop rapping. I believe he can circular breathe.
@@kevinkarbonik2928 yes, well congratulations, you're a better human than me for mentioning it. You must be so proud.
No I'm not a better human than you, I don't even know you, I'm just stating facts. I totally respect Ren and his talent. @@jasonremy1627
Just subbed👍
Thanks!
I have seen close to 100 different reactions to this song before seeing yours...and yet you added a great deal...thank you.
It's like a modern day mini opera. Incredibly creative and original. True art. I didn't feel bored for one second.
His Videographer is Sam Perry-Falvey. Just the other day, Joe E. Sparks did a good long interview with him and Sam explains a lot about his team and his process. It's a great watch.
Enjoyed! I like your style. Do more Ren and we’ll be here!
Having seen him do this live, I promise you there is no post production trickery! It’s breath control, pure & simple, just like Beatboxing, didgeridoo playing, you can either do it, or you can’t ! Dimash also has extraordinary breath control, holding 24-27 second notes!
You should check out The Grudge by Tool. Thier vocalist Maynard has a 35 second power scream if you're into amazing breathe control. Cheers
@@Lloocii I think you'll find his was a 25, not 35, second scream! So...yeah.
@@hazmania I have indeed found that the 2 is next to the 3. So, yea.
it was shot in a single take with 4 cameras and then edited together. that performance was performed live. no lip syncing or anything.
Besides the "Tale of Jenny and Screech (Full version)", please check out the theatricality and brilliance in his video "Money Game part 3" 🙏
Great reaction! Loved your perspective and the unique things you noticed! As a vocalist, id love to see you react to Chalk Outlines (the live version) if you want some more Ren singing the entire song :)
Noted! Thank you!
His choice of nylon strings gives it an amazing sound.
Performed live by Ren, in one take with multiple cameras. Took a total of 4 attempts before he was happy with it. He is extremely talented and I'm so happy to see him getting exposure and recognition. He deserves it.
"Some people know me as 'Hope.' Some people know me as the voice that you hear when you loosen the noose on the rope." Wow. That gets me every time.
You have a beautifully empathetic soul! Thx for the reaction!
Thank you too!
I’ve probably watched hundreds of reactions to this song. I have to tell you that I LOVED your reaction. Welcome to the world of Ren.
What a superb analysis! I've watched soooo many reactions to Hi Ren and this is one of the best. Subscribed!
Thank you very much and welcome ☺️
I loved your reaction it was really interesting. I've subscribed. Please do more Ren. 😊😊
Thank you!
Nice breakdown! Whether you choose to do any other Ren works or not, I would recommend the "Tales of Jenny and Screech". In a similar vein style-wise, each person has their own unique signature.
Finally!... Welcome to "Renosphere". He has an amazing portfolio, just dive in... I don't think you'll regret it.
Good reaction.
Thanks.
DEEP!!!! Lol
He just took #1 in the charts!!!
amazing reaction!!!! thank you so much and wellcome to Ren´s world!!!!
AND not only is it a one take, it's Live lady!
Love your reaction!
Thank you, Jessica!❤
Thank you for your knowledgeable and detailed contribution to the 100s of reaction to Hi Ren. You will not regret a deep dive into Ren's rabbit hole.
First time watching you react. I appreciate the analysis & thank you for the notes on screen
Thank you so much 4 your comments, I really enjoyed listening to you! 👍🏽🌻
FYI... he makes and produces all his own music!

I found you through this reaction. Love your pov. ❤
Welcome to the REN rabbit hole enjoy the ride
thank you for reacting to my favourite artist ever please Please more Ren you wont be disappointed sending big love from the UK ❤❤
Your reaction and your professionalism is explaining. This masterpiece is definitely my best reaction
There's hundreds of reaction videos for this song. Yours is easily in the top 3 in my opinion, as far as breaking down each aspect of the performance. 👏🏽👏🏽
I’ve watch SO many of these and I’m only at 6:42 and your breakdown is stellar!! New subscriber here!
Wow, thanks a bunch and welcome to the community!
Think you woukd love the Tales of Jenny and Screech FULL.
you have a long and winding road with this one , full of smiles and surprises and admiration . Welcome to the Renegades .
Refreshing after all this time to find a new informative reaction. Showing how much of a masterpiece this truly is.
We have another one that fell in the Ren rabbit hole!!
Welcome we love company! Awesome reaction!
@@whimsysmith2835 Yeah, I didn't remember the dates - been a while since I first learned about them. Thanks :)
Love your reaction video! You catched sooo much. I loved how the 2 lights behind him made 2 shadows of one person. Kinda showing the multiple sides from one. Love this work of art. The whole damn thing. Masterpiece.
This was a live one take. Yes composite of different cameras. But not cut or edited
I love thwt you propped up the camera work. I forget his name, but he adds so much to Rens music videos.
Hi and thank you for this finetuned and profound reaction - enjoyed it. Welcome to this beautiful RENaissance 😌
Thank you! 😊
Enjoyed your reaction…would love your thoughts on more of Ren’s music.
I am a fan!
I keep watching these reactions and one thing keeps happening throughout most people , after he is finished speaking there is a waiting stare into the video as to say - more- more - more .
Outstanding explanation , thank you for sharing . . .
You clearly put real work and effort into this reaction video, and I appreciate that.
I really appreciate the thorough analysis you gave, what a great reaction video! Thanks for the awesome content. :)
I adore Ren and every other song of his I want everyone to hear him! You did a wonderful job putting the pieces of this song together musically. Thank you, I really appreciate it ❤
Wow... you put a lot of effort to show us what you meant in your analysis. Very clear!! Appreciate it!!
So ive watched probably 50 of the hi ren reactions.. i really enjoyed uour analysis and how you went back and had the description bubbles for the specific scenes about which you were speaking. I cant wait for you to see the tales of jenny and screech (and violet) but also he and sam tompkins do some really fun atuff that shows more of his vocal range.. i think you'll enjoy thay as well
Damn good reaction. Really. I bet if Ren sees this one he’ll really appreciate it too. One of the best I’ve seen!
@sopranoNotes I've watched a LOT of reactions. Yours really stood out. I love what you picked out and made note of. Looking forward to you hopefully reacting to more of Ren's rabbit hole of intriguing and fun works.
One take. No cuts. Hes beyond amazing!!
