The safety training at my last job included how to handle chemical products, lift heavy objects, and how to work around heavy machinery, amongst other things. It was a call center job.
Just applied to drive for Lyft and had to sit through literally 30 minutes of videos explaining how not to talk to passengers. Not exactly the same thing, but equally ridiculous.

Look at the automotive industry for an excellent example of this in action.
Not sure if you want a serious answer but in places where I've worked, health and safety has often been an additional role on top of someone's regular job.
It is nice of Byron to react so fast. Usually, the bulb will not get replaced for 3-4 weeks (although the area will stay cordoned off), because it takes time to find and procure an incandescent replacement bulb. This is due to the middle management having failed on several occasions over the years to reach a consensus on what color temperature LED bulbs to get, (as it has to be uniform throughout the office, for some reason). And CFLs have been banned due to mercury since the 1990s.
An open flame?! Health an safety would call fire evacuation as soon as they see a candle, even an unlit one. And HR would call a "disgruntled employee with malicious intent" alarm as soon as the candle and an ignition source come within a foot of one another@@alexhajnal107

Gosh, this brings back memories of working in big businesses with power-tripping unions. Literally got screamed at for cleaning up a little broken glass in the middle of what was about to become a busy hallway instead of cordoning off the area and calling the janitor to come clean it.
I would have replaced the glass with the dipshits teeth who screamed at you. Call your union rep and get them fired, they aren't allowed to do that. Bullying and harassment, intimidation, verbal abuse, 1-2-3 strikes they're fuckin fired with no severance

Spent 7 years in the canadian oilfield. I can confirm that they actually didn’t go far enough. They did not lock out and tag out the breaker leading to the outlet, did not unplug the lamp from the wall, did not write a permit and hazard assessment to change the bulb (though there may have been an SOP) and finally, did not engage a journeyman electrician to change the bulb. I wish I was joking but I have, in complete seriousness, seen this happen.

The desk task lamp and the bulb must be standard issue from risk assessment and method statement, if not, they need to be revised prior to the works commence, after the used materials have been authorized. Alan needs to be allocated to a different desk by the logistic manager for the duration. The task must be represented in the Inspection and Test Plan. Reviewed, rejected, revised, reviewed, rejected, revised again.
As someone who works in an automotive factory... I can confirm that such an extreme amount of safety is genuinely needed in the workplace. With anything electronic. Or high pressure. Or something razor sharp. Or something higher than 4 feet off the ground. Or something flammable. Byron should have unplugged the lamp, kicked Alan out of the room, and shooed Rowan away for not wearing proper PPE!
I ve lived in the UK and I confirm what is shown is true there too. Once the - very round and made of plastic attached to the shower tube by screw - showerhead in my room was broken and they would not give me a replacement one because of health and safety. I asked the reception if they thought I could really stub my self with it but I did not get an answer.
Loving the vids guys I'm not sure if its because of Health and safety or your typical bureaucracy in Healthcare but at my local hospital most of the wards and departments locked all their cleaning cupboards at night and don't leave the simplest bin bag out. Basically you can't typically empty full bins as one of the Nursing staff at night. Oh and they took our microwaves on the newly built parts of the hospital due to a fire causing electrical issue that they didn't think of when they built it. Again not fun on nights, especially when your the only one that doesn't sleep on their break.....but just eats.

Also bulb companies: makes a CFL or LED lamp that costs twice as much and lasts half as long as the incandescent bulb it was supposed to replace.

I'm not sure if its because of Health and safety or your typical bureaucracy in Healthcare but at my local hospital most of the wards and departments locked all their cleaning cupboards at night and don't leave the simplest bin bag out.
Basically you can't typically empty full bins as one of the Nursing staff at night.
Oh and they took our microwaves on the newly built parts of the hospital due to a fire causing electrical issue that they didn't think of when they built it.
Again not fun on nights, especially when your the only one that doesn't sleep on their break.....but just eats.

I was expecting something different when I saw the title. I was relieved when it didn't go that direction. With politics seeming to be in literally everything, I love that Viva exists outside of all that, and just exists to be funny. Keep up the good work, guys. With love from the Southern 🇺🇸.
