My friend (who is gay) and I are always holding hands, are on each others arms when we go out, tell each other we love each other, but I'm completely straight and he's gay, so people get confused when they see us together. We just are comfortable with each other and love each other (platonically). It's not a huge deal.

Yeahh its stuff like this that makes me realize how lucky i was to grow up with the family i did. It was never a big deal, it was never a deal at all. One day I brought a girl home and i was like “this is my girlfriend” and my mom was like “uh huh so is she staying for dinner orr? Oh you should bring her to [aunts house] for fourth of july were doing a big thing” and then later on i ended up bringing a guy home and there was no “but i thought you were gay?? I'm a, mostly, straight girl that has had a really close friendship with a totally gay boy. It was a really safe space for both of us to give and receive affection and silly flirtations with no strings attached. We were besties. Just because he wasn't into girls didn't mean he couldn't appreciate when i was looking especially good and tell me how sexy i was lol. We could be found cuddled up together on many occasions. Dating can be tricky and sometimes it's just not worth it so u curl up with your bestie and chill without the complications or expectations. this video and the sentiment behind it are steeped in homophobia. it’s one thing to go to a content creators page to see if they’re in a relationship with someone else. however, taking the time to create entire videos discussing, or trying to sus if said creator is a “girlie pop” or not just plays into the constant hyper vigilance and scrutiny queer people face every day. yes, this creator used a fake relationship to draw views in; he’s allowed to (it’s his dating life), and his audience is also allowed to be curious about said dating life. but ultimately queer creators should be able to date who they want to date without the main question being their partner’s gender. this video feels like a subtle way of “reassuring” the straight audience that yes, he’s gay-gay, don’t worry, you weren’t wrong. i wish this video instead would have looked at why it matters so much to an audience if a creator is strictly a “girlie pop” (i can’t get over that stupid phrase used in the video) or if they’re bi, bc it’s normal to be curious, but true support for the queer community means moving towards conversations that don’t center on demanding that a content creator divulge to their audience their sexuality at any and all times. especially bc videos like this, that seem harmless bc the conclusion is, “ya he’s gay, we were right all along” (which other commenters have rightfully pointed out, is still an assumption), run the risk of forcing a creator to out themselves.

Yeahh its stuff like this that makes me realize how lucky i was to grow up with the family i did. It was never a big deal, it was never a deal at all. One day I brought a girl home and i was like “this is my girlfriend” and my mom was like “uh huh so is she staying for dinner orr? Oh you should bring her to [aunts house] for fourth of july were doing a big thing” and then later on i ended up bringing a guy home and there was no “but i thought you were gay?? But i thought you liked girls??” And i thought it was the norm to not care but it apparently is definitely not so im super grateful for that.

Where did anyone say it mattered? People are literally talking about this the same way they talk about everything else. It’s weird how whenever the topic of someone being gay comes up, people like you are so quick to say “I don’t care, I like them for them,” when literally everyone else feels the exact same way. Again, we talk and have discussions about everything else, why should this be any different?
Also, the same way it’s “none of our business” which flag someone flies, it’s also "none of of business” who they date. But I’m sure you don’t say this on videos about dating rumors. Keep that same energy.

I haven't been watching him in a while and I'm sure I'm not the only one, so when I saw his video with "my girlfriend" I knew it was a desperate attempt to get people watching again. I know it's not that serious but this lack of integrity and maturity is part of why I just didn't resonate with him anymore.

I remember him making a video a few years ago talking about how he had a gf in high school before coming out . He said he was never repulsed by women the stereotypical way a lot of gay men are portrayed as being whenever a woman is brought up. This was again a few years ago so idk things can change .

I think this is a good lesson in not being so certain of someone’s sexual orientation unless that person chooses to talk about it. I’ve made this mistake in the past. It was a really safe space for both of us to give and receive affection and silly flirtations with no strings attached. We were besties. Just because he wasn't into girls didn't mean he couldn't appreciate when i was looking especially good and tell me how sexy i was lol. We could be found cuddled up together on many occasions. Dating can be tricky and sometimes it's just not worth it so u curl up with your bestie and chill without the complications or expectations. I think these two are adorable together no matter what they may or may not be up to physically. To me it's coming off as pretty innocent and fun. And just because a person has been one way doesn't mean they could never meet someone that could be an exception to all that 🖤

this video and the sentiment behind it are steeped in homophobia. it’s one thing to go to a content creators page to see if they’re in a relationship with someone else. however, taking the time to create entire videos discussing, or trying to sus if said creator is a “girlie pop” or not just plays into the constant hyper vigilance and scrutiny queer people face every day. yes, this creator used a fake relationship to draw views in; he’s allowed to (it’s his dating life), and his audience is also allowed to be curious about said dating life. but ultimately queer creators should be able to date who they want to date without the main question being their partner’s gender. this video feels like a subtle way of “reassuring” the straight audience that yes, he’s gay-gay, don’t worry, you weren’t wrong. i wish this video instead would have looked at why it matters so much to an audience if a creator is strictly a “girlie pop” (i can’t get over that stupid phrase used in the video) or if they’re bi, bc it’s normal to be curious, but true support for the queer community means moving towards conversations that don’t center on demanding that a content creator divulge to their audience their sexuality at any and all times. especially bc videos like this, that seem harmless bc the conclusion is, “ya he’s gay, we were right all along” (which other commenters have rightfully pointed out, is still an assumption), run the risk of forcing a creator to out themselves.
