    This is by far the best video i have found explaining how stabilizer works and the reason it should not be allowed to get too high. Thank you for your detailed explanation🙏🏽 I finally understand the reasoning behind draining and adding fresh water when CYA is too high.

    I just went through this. Cya was 100 why my HTH kit only gives me 3 tests in the kit pissed me off. Thanks for putting it in a simple way, spent tons of money my clorine was off the chart like a bad urine drug test dark yellow, i was fitting it, it would not come down for weeks then my WELL water i think is the culprit as i was emptying water out the pool and refilling my untreated water ( i ran it out of softner ) it had effect it im not sure whats in it yet, i need to find out.

    Great video ! What do you bring the chlorine ppm up to, to make it last a week with 80 cya ?

    • @PoolCareWorld
      @PoolCareWorld  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thank you! I calculated it at the end of the video you Times 80 by 0.075 so we need to be able hold that level through the week. It would vary Pool to Pool and chlorine dose but this one the weekly dose is going to be about a jug or jug and a half

    So if my CYA is at 90 I should maintain a free chlorine level of 6.75 and that’s safe to swim in correct?

    When you say effective chlorine do you mean free chlorine or total chlorine?

    Well I realize that different areas of the country use different kinds of filters and methods to clean pools there is something you neglected here instead of draining the pool through a water hose you would probably have been a lot more efficient to vacuum the pool straight to waste you killing two birds with one stone then and after you fill it back up the stabilizer be down and the majority of the green would already be gone in my area which is Virginia Beach a DE filter is a lot more efficient and effective than cartridge filters The cartridges just clog up too quick and they still don't get the smallest particles from going back in the pool whereas a DE filter generally will filter down to two to four microns I've been working on pools since 1973 when I was a teenager and doing it professionally for myself since 1984 Nice video though. By the way a lot of areas in the country particularly in Hampton roads you don't want to drain the pool down all the way unless you know exactly what you're doing there are approximately 75% vinyl pools to 25% concrete or fiberglass comparatively and there is high water tables all over the place in this area in a lot of areas if you don't have well points hooked up to control the groundwater you don't even want to drain a pool 2 ft or you could have problems

      That you for taking the time to respond yes that’s correct it can be vacuumed out to waste but the purpose of the video is to show as many people as possible with how to deal with high stabilizer. An not many of our customers have waste lines so I taught a way anyone can do! They also were really worried about their grass so this was the best solution I could come up with. An if it isn’t commercial I’ll take cartridge filters all day! Here in Florida we cut out old residential DE filters all the time for cartridge filters! With the heat the filters are everything and if you can pop a new filter in once a year and it’s good as new!

    i would have hooked up the vacuum to waste and sucked the water out of the pool AND got rid of the algae all at once...I have a fiberglass pool so I cannot suck the water down too much because the wall pressure is balanced between the outside pressure and inside pressure...I have tried both the draining water and the enzyme products and had better luck with 2 bags of the enzyme...some people had terrible results with the enzymes but I was one of the lucky ones...it is 100 bucks for the enzymes but water can add up too if you decide to drain

      Yeah me too but there wasn’t a waste line and the purpose of the video is to show a solution anyone can do! Thanks for watching! I would maybe try a phosphate remover if it’s green your using enzymes for

    We have a 5,000 gal soft side pool. We got our levels I'm range on the test strips than added stabilizer- with in hours We have a swamp green pool! How do we fix this?? I'm at a loss

    CYA doesn't magically go down. It probably dropped from 100 to 80 on the water change after it had fully turned over and blended the new water into the original.
    Surprised 80ppm is considered good down there. Most manufacturers recommend 20-40ppm or 30-50ppm. on regular Chlorine pools and 40-60ppm in SWG pools with 80ppm being a high max in hot very sunny areas.

    You should buy a spin disk. It makes the entire testing process take 30 seconds. Tells you absolutely everything

      I do want one to play with is the prices comparable to Taylor testing reagents, as well as reliability is the question I want to know! I still use Taylor salt reagents to not have to worry if my salt tester is recalibrated is that the same way? Do you have any experience with them?

    if you wouldn't mind what is something like this cost what do you charge and how many days does it take approximately?

    • @PoolCareWorld
      @PoolCareWorld  ปีที่แล้ว

      It’s not common in our area so I just charged per hour. Ask yourself, What’s your time worth per hour? Plus the monthly service fee. That’s what we charged these folks. 3 hours billable for labor and then all the cleaning is included in service rate.

  • @erickrhernandez1451
    @erickrhernandez1451 6 หลายเดือนก่อน

    Question. What if a client refuses to drain the pool to lower the cya. Should I refuse his monthly service? What is the solution if the client doesn’t want his/her pool to be drained?

    • @PoolCareWorld
      @PoolCareWorld  6 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      Drop them and raise all your rates. You’re the expert anyone paying for your services should trust your opinion. If they don’t drain it’s just more work for you and more chemicals. Why deal with that?

    TAKING THE POOL WATER SAMPLE IS STEP ONE. AND YOU NEVER MADE IT PASS STEP ONE... HOW CAN YOU GET A GOOD SAMPLE FROM THE TOP OF THE POOL WATER???

    The answer turns out to be: drain the pool.

    So drain pool halfway, clean & refill. This video was so unnecessarily long

      Believe me it was a lot of editing to get it as short as I did 😂
