People who are successful in the music industry generally have a massive work ethic and something unique to say. I think it's pretty obvious that Nikki Glaser has both of those qualities. She doesn't sound like star material, but with her life experience, there's no reason why she couldn't be a great songwriter with a decent voice (and many great songwriters are only mediocre singers). You'll never know unless you try.
I LOVE that Mr. Herig nurtured your love for music!! He was the BEST! The only reason I took AP European History was so I could be guaranteed to have him as a teacher!! ❤
A different uncut version of this interview came out first either by mistake or sabotage. She didnt know she was on film. Her off screen personality was not a good look. Maybe she was having a bad day.
Cheers & much Respect, I'm a Singer / Composer, coming from my mother's heritage and talent. I see you have the elements to see this forthcoming, "Passion & Chemistry" !. I share my music on Soundcloud under James Keith Callantine, if interested. All the very best in your endeavors. "Keep On, Keeping On", Hugs & Cheers from Montana. XX
I mean she's not bad. She's certainly musical. She's not at all polished or practiced. So I guess it depends on what she really means by a "new identity" in music. She can absolutely have an identity in music if she wants one - but would she be content with a much less famous identity, that plays to much smaller crowds, and takes a longer time to achieve that? Because frankly there are millions of supremely talented musicians, far better trained and far more polished than Glaser, for whom a successful "identity in music" is a morsel of a fraction of a sliver of what Glaser has achieved in comedy with much less work. I am a person who has the bittersweet good fortune of having become successful in a field that was never my passion, while achieving only locally, modestly in the thing I would have loved to spend my life doing. And I know a bunch of other people for whom this is true. I know lawyers who wanted to be guitar players, but I also know guitar players who wanted to be painters. This seems to be a common thing, and I don't know whether it is a real phenomenon of human creativity or just the product of humans never being satisfied with their lot in life. I mean go for it, you'll never know unless you try. I just wonder about people who have achieved fame in one area who seek it in another. Often they presume they will just leverage their fame and change careers laterally, instead of starting all over again at the bottom like anyone else. And sometimes they don't have to start all over. But the true measure of their commitment is their willingness to do so if that's what it takes.
